For many years before the climate change cult started to embrace electric vehicles as the thing that would save all of us from certain climate doom, the alarmists were in love with “light rail.” Taking a train somewhere instead of driving or flying was going to make the climate safer for everybody — or something. The love of light rail is alive in France with a new policy that bans short domestic flights when passengers have the option to take a train. But, as is par for the course when the climate crazies get to make policy, it’s not convenient for some travelers. “The move is aimed at reducing airline emissions

While I know global warming is a con and am opposed to governments making policy to deal with it, if I were traveling from Paris to Marseille I would of course take the high speed train. Instead of enduring the agony of checking in and then out of two airports for the privilege of a flight time of just shy one hour I would prefer the easy in and out of a train that gets me to my destination in about the same elapsed time.

#4: I don’t know of any “high-speed” trains from Paris to Marseille. The fast trains all travel between countries, i.e, Paris to Brussels. All the trains inside France are run by SNCF, the French national railroad. They’re usually running late, and they’ll cancel a train at the drop of a hat. SNCF is as bad as any other government-run enterprise in France.

The Nazi invasion of Paris, shown in the movie "Casablanca," is a lesson for free people. As the tanks roll into town, a goon with a megaphone stands high informing the weaponless Parisians that they are now prisoners of the Reich. Then, we see frantic panic at the mass-transit train stations as individuals who have no cars or trucks try to escape. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

I flew on a French flight from Marseilles to Paris once. The jet plane was 20+ years old. The hot-shot pilot zoomed all over the sky, using his air brakes and up and down, left and right as he was dodging clouds. ...scared the living daylights out of us.

Having traveled extensively by train all over France and Europe, I’d say “let them ban”… The trains are clean, well-maintained, on-time… easier to access than airports.

Re #8 on #4 Want to travel from Paris to Marseille and need more information? Look no further! Generally, the train time from Paris to Marseille is 3h 53m, although it can take just 3h 4m on the fastest TGV INOUI services. With around 18 direct trains running on this popular route each day, you don’t need to worry about changing along the way. On this route, you’ll depart from Paris Gare de Lyon, travel through the French countryside before arriving at Marseille St Charles station. Much more here: I’ll do my travel with #4 :-)

In 2023, we are just now entering the deadliest phase of the opioid crisis. Driven by a powerful synthetic opioid known as fentanyl, this is not just another chapter in the pharmaceutical and over-prescription scandal. During the last three years, prescription opioids were dispensed at the lowest levels in nearly 15 years, while overdose deaths have skyrocketed to record levels. In 2021, the United States hit a grim new milestone of 107,000 drug overdose deaths, with fentanyl accounting for nearly 70% of those deaths. Like so many other states, Minnesota, where I served as sheriff of its largest county, was not immune from this trend. Over that same period,

It is hard to find any data to support what we have been told about temperatures and the climate, yet, we repeatedly see the talking point that “the science is settled” and people saying the dire predictions have been true. Here is a report that shows that Arctic Ice, which has only been measured since 1981, is melting slower than normal, because it is cooler than normal. And that it is at 95% of the average. 5.4 million square miles vs. 5.67 million square miles. The prediction was that the ice was melting fast and would soon be gone, not that sometimes it is melting and sometimes it is expanding.

The White House on Thursday released a broad national strategy to fight antisemitism, describing the initiative as unprecedented in scope amid a surge in anti-Jewish crime. However, the White House evaded an increasingly contentious debate over how to define antisemitism, avoiding a clear endorsement of a mainstream, widely accepted definition while simultaneously welcoming an alternative pushed by progressives who argue the former doesn't allow sufficient space to criticize Israel, the world's only Jewish state. The 60-page document details four pillars that undergird the strategy: increasing awareness and understanding of antisemitism and appreciation of Jewish American heritage,

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., slammed the Supreme Court's ruling Thursday that limited the Environmental Protection Agency's ability to regulate bodies of water, calling it a "MAGA" court even though the decision was 9-0. On Thursday, the high court issued an opinion that narrowed the EPA's broad definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS). The court said the federal government must define WOTUS as a water source with a "continuous surface connection" to major bodies of water. The decision upended an attempt by the Biden administration to regulate wetlands, lakes, ponds, streams and other "relatively permanent" waterways, which had relied on a broad reading of the EPA's authority

It is clear from the Durham report and the work of House Republican hearings that the current scandals in the Biden White House – and senior bureaucracies at the Justice Department, IRS, and elsewhere – are much deeper and more cancerous than Watergate ever was. It may be hard to remember, but Watergate came about due to a weird, dumb, and fairly narrow set of criminal behaviors which mushroomed into 69 officials being indicted and 48 imprisoned. I remember Watergate vividly, because I first ran for Congress in 1974 during the Watergate scandal.
