The Virginia teacher shot by a 6-year-old student filed a $40 million lawsuit on Monday, accusing school officials of repeatedly ignoring warnings that the disturbed youngster had a gun.
Abigail Zwerner, 25, filed the suit nearly three months after she was shot while teaching at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News by a first-grader with “a history of random violence,” according to the lawsuit. (Snip) Zwerner filed the suit after school officials refused to settle, claiming that it was effectively a workers’ compensation case.
“That’s what they’ve maintained, up until today, that that is just part of the job” for a first-grade teacher “to be shot by their own student,”

Finland's main conservative party claimed victory in parliamentary elections Sunday in a tight three-way race that saw right-wing populists take second place, leaving Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Social Democratic Party in third, dashing her reelection hopes. The results sparked worries in the EU over far-right The Finns party's infamous anti-EU sentiments. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Dr Helena Ivanov, research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society, pointed out that after the Italian and Swedish election results, the bloc is increasingly moving towards the right in a seeming "domino effect".

Finnish politics could dramatically shift to the far-Right on Sunday as an anti-immigration party aims to replace Sanna Marin's Social Democrats Party.
The 'rock star' prime minister, who took office in 2019 as the world's youngest PM at 34, is Finland's most popular leader this century, polls show.
However, latest figures put the mother-of-one's centre-Left SDP in third place behind the anti-immigration and nationalist Finns Party and the centre-Right National Coalition Party, which held on to a thin lead. (Snip) A win for the far-Right Finns Party, and a far-Right prime minister, would be a first in Finland - but the party has previously served in government in a coalition.

As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt sat in his wheelchair in the Oval Office, dictating a letter to his secretary, in sneaked William Donovan, the head of the Office of Strategic Services, armed with a loaded pistol. (Snip) That summer, “Wild Bill” Donovan had also appointed Dr. Stanley Lovell as the director of research and development at the agency.
A renowned industrial chemist, Lovell was a blue-sky thinker long before the phrase even existed.
His more left-field ideas were developed by Division 19, a hush-hush branch of R&D tasked with performing “frequently bizarre tasks,” writes Lisle.
Nothing was a bad idea, at least not initially.

After a Tennessee librarian was fired for sparking a disruption at an event by women’s sports activist Riley Gaines and actor Kirk Cameron, Gaines told The Post it’s all about politics and liberal activism.
Sumner County, Tennessee, library director Allan Morales was axed in a 4-3 vote by the library’s board, after he and his staff allegedly created a ruckus at the February 25 reading for kids.
“They were talking very loudly. They were slamming doors. Then all of a sudden they started blaring music and dropping books,” Gaines recalled. (Snip) She added, “I’ve never in my life seen older women act so immaturely.”
