Donald Trump has rattled close aides of Ron DeSantis who think the Florida governor will have to campaign far harder to win the GOP nomination, reports say.
Recent polls have shown Trump holding on to a commanding lead, with a Morning Consult survey showing the ex-president leading DeSantis by 28 points, 54-26.
It is the biggest lead Trump has seen since announcing his third run at the White House, though recent polls from Quinnipiac and Yahoo/YouGov showed him leading DeSantis from 14-15 points.

Everyone miscalculated the loyalty of Trump’s base. The GOPe cannot understand the connection because they have been playing a political game with Americans who have right leaning political beliefs and have really had not much of a choice. They did a very good job of fooling us in the past, but Americans were awakened by Trump and they have no interest in being played for a fool ever again. They are paying attention and are just not going to fall for their lies. We have learned this country can be prosperous and peaceful. The choice we have been given in the past is pretty much democrat-lite and once we experienced America first, there was no going back to a time when the GOPe elites patted us on our heads and then after the election said, go away kid, you bother me. When you have experienced a President who puts this country first from day one of his administration, someone supported by a self-serving elitist political faction is just not going to cut it.
I had nothing against RdS. In fact, I admired him and believed he was doing great things for the same reason President Trump was so committed to this country. However, it appears that he is nothing more than a politician who has been convinced by the same old donor class that he should step up and run now not because his opponent is lacking but because he actually has the desire and will to put the country and its people first. This is the sin of Donald John Trump. He has the audacity to believe in the potential of the country and its people and will not stop until that potential is tapped to its fullest and the country is on top again. Trump will charge Hades with a squirt gun to succeed. That is why his base is loyal and RdS is fooling himself if he believes he can come in backed by the same old donor class who loves their power as much as the democrats do, wants to fight any war and drain the treasury, throw away the lives of our military and throw open the border for their own selfish reasons and worst of all ignores the deep state. It’s to heck with what is good for Americans as long as they sit in the Republican catbird seat. Therefore, RdS is a no for me. He definitely would have been an enthusiastic yes if he had been wise enough to understand that if you lie down with dogs you will get up with fleas. I am so disappointed he chose the road he has when he could have fought the good fight for the American people and not thrown in with the globalist elites. It’s a real pity but it is better to find out now, rather than later.

The headline is a joke..... Right???
Trump has always been the guy to beat in 24. He has the rabid support of half the base. And his core supporters aren't going to entertain anyone not named Trump.
The only way Trump loses is if he is taken out of the primaries, assumes room temperature or completely melts down. It's possible that DeSantis could beat him in a straight up clean primary, but we know that Trump is ruthless. Least we forget that Trump insinuated that Cruz's father was involved with the Kennedy assassination.
DeSantis will have to spend half his time defending himself against one baseless accusation after another, with the barking seal contingent believing every word.
Trump will most likely be the nominee and probably give us another 4 years of Biden and his successor.

Ron DeSantis has to either change FLA law to run without giving up his job as gov, or, forget running until later.
If he changes that law to benefit himslef he makes a talking point of being part of the uniparty that has rules for us but not for themselves.

Dear Gov, As I understand it, Florida laws prohibit a sitting Governor from running for the presidency. If so, stop the teasing it makes you look bad. If you plan on changing the law, that will make you look self centered and uncaring of your constituents who supported that law. Also that you do not care about fulfilling the oath you took.

2, are those the new DNC talking points? Voting for Trump is a vote for Biden?
If we had clean elections, Trump would be in office right now. We all know it. Absolutely nothing has changed since then except everyone now knows how corrupt and stupid Biden is. Trump hasn't changed at all. There is absolutely no way Biden would win a clean election.
Everyone please vote -for- the candidate you like. Do not be swayed by political operatives of the establishment uniparty trying to convince you to waste your MAGA vote on anyone but a clearly MAGA candidate. If your vote is for anyone non-MAGA you might as well stay home or vote DNC. By definition non-MAGA do not love this country.
The last time I was fooled by establishment tripe was GWB jr. I didn't vote for any of the other establishment slime since him. Proudly and justifiably waited all those years not voting for the RINO trash they put forward until 2016.
If you vote for people you don't like you'll elect people you don't like.
Keep the unlabeled DNC propaganda off the site, please.
This is MAGA territory.
Trump'24.

It is NOT DeSantis's time. Our President has a job to finish. DeSantis should be cheering him on while keeping Florida solid RED and successful. MAGA

"__________ will have to spend half his time defending himself against one baseless accusation after another, with the barking seal contingent believing every word."
Poster above made a statement that will always be correct no matter who the Republican candidate is. The one most likely to overcome those baseless accusations is the "ruthless" one beholden to no one and unafraid to beat his opponent to a pulp.
Anyone who thinks it was Trump who gave us 4 years of Biden has been hypnotized by CNN into believing the candidate who won more votes than any other presidential candidate in history (including Obama) was actually beaten by sleepy Joe.

I am afraid that those who envision a triumphant Trump comeback in '24 are going to be disappointed. The legal and electoral machinery in six key states is still stacked against him and any other potential GOP nominee.
I hope Governor Ron stays out of this presidential mess and remains here in FL to continue doing a stand up job. Those who see him as a tool of mysterious, unnamed forces because he shook hands with Jeb Bush or campaigned for a RINO senate candidate ought to stop drinking the Sundance Kool-Aid and judge the man on his actual performance.
It may not be DeS' time to run for president. But if MAGA is only a one man show, as some posts here seem to imply, then the cause is doomed.

These times will pass. The "expected arrest" will fade. And the less committed Trumpistas will again be open to an alternative message. It's still nearly a year before the first '24 caucus/primary. An eternity.
And let's presume FPDT wins the nomination. Who does he choose for running mate? Not DeSantis. And then what of the dreams of Trump-DeSantis morphing into DeSantis-X in '28...that dynasty many here predict, if only? The man is a bought globalist, a pawn of the elite and the establishment, still "green" as an executive...no? Worse, he is rumored to have molested underaged girls, and (in a whisper) he may be GAY!

Don and Ron, use your head and stop arguing with each other. Trump in 2024, DeSantis in 2028. The country needs both of you to undo this mess. Leave the egos to the Dems.
