Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called to remove "obstacles" for new police recruits and pledged to root out officers with ties to "right-wing domestic extremist organizations." Bass is looking to remove "obstacles" for police recruits who fail to initially qualify for training as a means of further diversifying the LAPD, according to a summary of her public safety goals obtained by Fox News Digital – but police union leaders are questioning the move. (Snip) "We think that particular provision or that goal or that idea is dangerous," Tom Saggau, Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) spokesperson, told Fox News Digital.

The Air Force has relieved six leaders assigned to a North Dakota base in charge of nuclear missiles and bombers over a loss of confidence, the military branch said Monday.
Maj. Gen. Andrew J. Gebara, commander of 8th Air Force, relieved Col. Gregory Mayer of the 5th Mission Support Group and Maj. Jonathan Welch of the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron, both based at Minot Air Force Base. The Air Force didn't identify the commanders, but an Air Force spokesperson confirmed their identities to Task & Purpose. Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned on Sunday that potential 2024 GOP presidential contenders who have called for the U.S. to pull back its support for Ukraine in its war with Russia should be careful with their words.
During an appearance on CBS’s “Face The Nation,” moderator Margaret Brennan asked Rice about recent remarks from former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) criticizing the U.S. for its robust support for Kyiv.

Former President Donald Trump has never been in more serious — and fast-approaching — legal jeopardy.
A Georgia grand jury has apparently already recommended Trump’s indictment in a 2020 election interference case. The Atlanta prosecutor handling that case told a judge that decisions on charging him and others are “imminent.” Special counsel Jack Smith, meanwhile, is showing none of the kid-glove deference to Trump that marked Attorney General Merrick Garland’s handling of the explosive cases.
Moving at the legal equivalent of lightning speed, Smith is gathering evidence against the former president on two fronts: his taking a cache of classified documents to his Mar-a-Lago resort and Trump’s role

For two years, the Democrats have insisted that, on Jan. 6, 2021, the republic was shaken to its foundations by an “insurrection” mounted by wild-eyed MAGA extremists. They attempted to reinforce this claim with a series of hyper-partisan hearings, complete with video edited for dramatic effect by a professional television producer. This left most of the footage captured by Capitol surveillance cameras on the cutting room floor, and the Democrats refused to release any of the unused video to the public. Thus, after the midterms, Kevin McCarthy pledged to make it public if elected speaker of the House. He kept his word, and the Democrats are clearly alarmed.

Kyiv, - U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen swept into Kyiv on Monday on a surprise visit to reaffirm U.S. support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russia's invasion and promote U.S. economic aid that is bolstering Ukraine's war effort.
Yellen met with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and other key government officials just days into the war's second year, repeating U.S. assurances delivered by President Joe Biden a week ago in Kyiv"America will stand with Ukraine as long as it takes," Yellen, flanked by sandbags at the cabinet ministers' office, told Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

China will attack the American homeland if “a major war” erupts over Taiwan or elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific, the U.S. Army’s top civilian expects.
“If we got into a major war with China, the United States homeland would be at risk as well with both kinetic attacks and non-kinetic attacks — whether it's cyberattacks on the power grid or on pipelines,” Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said Monday at the American Enterprise Institute. “They are going to go after the will of the United States public. They're going to try to erode support for a conflict.”

The new MLS season is off to a bright start with attendances through the roof on opening day, with some stadiums experiencing a better turnout than several NFL venues on average.
On Saturday, Charlotte FC had 69,345 fans at its home opener in a 1-0 loss against the New England Revolution, while Atlanta United's dramatic 2-1 win against the San Jose Earthquakes wasn't far behind with 67,538 supporters watching from the stands of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
That's close to the NFL's per game attendance of 69,442 last year and it's the first time that MLS has had multiple 65,000+ games on the same day,

Muhammad was the most popular baby name in Galway, Ireland’s fourth-largest city, last year, the country’s government has confirmed.
A report released by Ireland’s Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Friday has revealed that “Muhammad” has risen to become the most popular name for newborn babies in one of the country’s major cities.
The statistic sees Ireland join the likes of France, England, Sweden, and many other European countries, which have all seen the popularity of the name surge amid record immigration from Islamic countries over the last two-to-three decades. It now appears that Ireland is on the same path as its European neighbours as it pursues mass migration policies,

If you’re wondering who Republican voters want to see square off in next year’s presidential primaries, it’s probably no big secret. As the latest polling data from I&I/TIPP show, a solid majority of registered GOP voters and independents who lean Republican, or Republican primary voters, say they want to see former President Donald Trump and current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis duke it out on the primary trail.
In the latest poll, taken of 1,155 registered voters from Feb. 1-3, 397 were identified as GOP primary voters. They were asked to respond to the following statement: “I would like to see a primary contest between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.”

Gisele Fetterman took her children on a road trip to Canada while her husband, Sen. John Fetterman was being treated for clinical depression at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Fetterman, 41, posted on social media about the trip after the senator's staff revealed he had checked into the Maryland hospital amid 'severe' depression. She said she took the trip because of the media presence outside their Braddock home, following news of her husband's treatment.
'I am not really sure how to navigate this journey but am figuring it out slowly. 1 week ago today when the news dropped, the kids were off from school and media trucks circled our home,'

Social media is awash right now with wild rumors about the condition of Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, who has been hospitalized for depression—a hospitalization that will apparently last a month or longer. We should await some facts or other kinds of confirmation before drawing conclusions about nefarious political calculations, but it is confirmed that his wife and children have fled the country to “avoid media attention.” I don’t know much about treating what appears to be severe depression (a month in the hospital?), but common sense would suggest the presence of wife and family is instrumental for treatment and recovery. No wonder there are rumors spreading.
