Gerontocracy: the exceptionally old political
class that governs the US

It is the year of the octogenarian. American TV viewers can find Patrick Stewart, 82, boldly going in a new series of Star Trek: Picard and 80-year-old Harrison Ford starring in two shows plus a trailer for the fifth installment of Indiana Jones. And a switch to the news is likely to serve up Joe Biden, at 80 the oldest president in US history, or Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, who turns 81 on Monday. But while action heroes are evergreen, the political class is facing demands for generational change.

The up side of that is that because of my age I will likely live to see most of them dead. I first cheered when Howard Metzenbaum croaked, then years later Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd. It seems to be the only way to get rid of those cancers.

They would say that it takes decades of experience to gain the wisdom to run the country. Truth is, it takes decades of skills to collect the stash of blackmail and cash that allows you to run the country.

They are terrified that we might learn how easy it is for a competent private sector leader to slide into club 535 and do the peoples work. However, breaking into the inner circle of that club to attain one of the prime positions at the trough of corruption is a long and arduous journey and once there they can't let go. .

especially when, like most of these elected officials in D.C. they've spent most of their adult life swilling down copious amounts of alcohol in various forms - drinking really does accelerate the aging process both internally and externally and has been proven to be a harmful substance for the human body but, never let it be said that a politician ever turned down a free drink

I don't see a younger generation in charge as being any better. Newsom, Butttigig, Betto.....? And yet DJT is a patriot. Not age ( although the addle minded need not apply) but their philosophy.

Long ago, I concluded that the only way to get rid of Biden, Pelosi, McConnell, Soros, Feinstein, and the rest of them was to wait for them to die. They won't willingly give up power. Eventually, they'll follow their power-hungry friends, Kennedy, McCain, Thurmond, Byrd, et al to the after life.

What's that famous saying? ; Old age and treachery will beat out youth and exuberance every time. Something like that. Not that JUST our old politicians have a lock on treachery. The young ones are catch on fast, especially when they are part of a political dynasty.

A source familiar with the former president’s plans told Fox News Digital that Trump will travel to East Palestine on Wednesday to meet with members of the community and community officials.

Sen. Joe Manchin III is escalating his attacks on corporations and financial firms that embrace environmental, social and governance investing as the ESG movement also suffers setbacks in corporate boardrooms. Once mum on the hot-button issue, the West Virginia Democrat has increasingly targeted the investment strategy that makes fighting climate change a top consideration. Mr. Manchin insisted to The Washington Times in a recent interview that his warning that ESG hurts energy security when geopolitical risks go ignored was “not criticizing ESG” or the responsibility to address climate change. But he has begun to sound more like his Republican colleagues who dub ESG “woke capitalism.”

It is now fashionable to deride our presidents as part of the woke deconstruction and desecration of America. Two of America’s most noble presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whom Presidents’ Day honors most especially, are routinely scrutinized by the vandals running through our country and institutions. Why? The two most consequential presidents are the ones whom the woke despise most. Washington is the “Father” of the United States. But what America is he the father of? The America of liberty, the rule of law, and defender of freedom or the America of racism, white supremacy, and historical injustices? Likewise, Lincoln held the union together,

Last year, the Biden administration caved to public outcry and disbanded its infamous Disinformation Governance Board under its “Disinformation Nanny,” Nina Jankowicz. Yet, as explored in a recent hearing (in which I testified), the Biden administration never told the public about a far larger censorship effort involving an estimated 80 FBI agents secretly targeting citizens and groups for disinformation. Now it appears that the administration also was partially funding an “index” to warn advertisers to avoid what the index deemed to be dangerous disinformation sites. It turns out that all ten of the “riskiest” sites identified by the Global Disinformation Index are popular with conservatives, libertarians and independents.

Nonprofit research organization Wirepoint has looked into Illinois public schools, and their performance deserves less than an “A+.” Among more than 30 institutions of learning, zero students can read at their respective grade levels. As for math, across 53 schools, no students are proficient. The bulk of those underperforming campuses — twenty-two in the case of reading and thirty-three in the case of math — sit within the City of Chicago School District — where taxpayers annually spend between $5,929 and $56,311 per student.

The Biden regime is so clueless they cannot even properly secure sensitive military information. For two full weeks an unsecured Department of Defense (DOD) server was leaking military emails online and no one noticed until Monday. The culprit was a so-called misconfiguration that left the server without a password. The server was loaded with files containing sensitive personnel information from the past several years, including a completed SF-86 questionnaire. Once upon a time we mocked the Soviet Union for its gerontocracy. Aged party leaders, bundled up in overcoats and fur hats to the point of near-unrecognizability, would be wheeled out to sit, immobile, as parades passed or party congresses opened. Their withered, stale leadership was emblematic of the decaying USSR’s withered, stale ideology — and industrial base. But now the joke’s on us. A leading United States senator, Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), can’t seem to remember important things, like her just-taken vote on a judicial nominee and her just-announced retirement. “Did I vote for that?” she asked an aide Wednesday, moments after leaving the chamber.

The White House said Wednesday it moved one step closer to meeting its offshore wind energy goals by announcing the first lease sale for developments in the Gulf of Mexico. President Joe Biden set a goal of having 30 gigawatts of offshore wind installed by 2030, with another 15 GW coming from floating turbine installations by 2035. To reach that goal, the administration said it opened its first lease sale for offshore wind in the Gulf of Mexico. Three lease areas off Texas and Louisiana could support the development of enough wind energy to meet the demands of nearly 1.3 million average households, the White House in a fact sheet.
