Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) posted a photo on Twitter of a Montana antelope killed on a hunting trip with his wife, Cindy. The two pose with the elk in the picture, dressed in hunting clothes. His account was suspended on Monday night and the reason given was that the image violated the Twitter Terms of Service. How did Daines react to the news? He said, “My wife is a great shot. What can I say?”The hashtag #FreeSteveDaines was created. Some other elected officials weighed in on behalf of their friend and colleague, including Senator Ted Cruz.

I hate when people write about animals who have no clue what they’re talking about. It’s a pronghorn antelope not an elk. An elk is a deer. Deer and antelope are not the same. Sheesh.

North American pronghorn are sometimes called antelope, but they are not antelope at all. The only relative of the North American Pronghorn is the giraffe.

I will be honest and say that I could not pick up a gun and shoot an animal unless I was starving or fighting for my life. I realize that hunting is a sport that some do not approve of. I have no problem with legal hunting. We must remember that if these herds were not thinned out many of them would die from starvation. Would these people be happier if they were viewing a sickly animal dying from starvation taking his last breath? Do these people have a problem eating a lobster, or a fillet, or some delicious fried chicken? Most of us prefer to hunt our meat at the grocery counter (if we can afford it) but there are more ways than one to prepare for your Sunday dinner. People have got to get a grip, get their heads out of their butts and stop being so offended by every little thing. Grow up!

This makes me wonder about Elon. I thought he was going to put a stop to most censorship on Twitter. There was no gore or over the top cruelty shown. I observe clips on Twitter where animals take down other animals which I find distasteful but they are not removed.

The Twitter censor sitting safely behind their desk in San Francisco with their latte probably think meat magically comes from the gourmet butcher and was never anything else and that the food and produce on the shelves at Whole Foods magically appears each day from the back room. These are the same people who think that there is nothing of consequence between California and New York and that there are 200+ genders. That someone would even consider shooting Bambi (or an antelope) is beyond their comprehension. Montana may as well be on another planet to these people.

Hunting is legal. The government makes money off it through hunting licenses. It was a clean kill and will provide enough meat to feed them for many months. I think #2 is probably right. He should have put on a gaudy dress, falsies, makeup, a giant wig, and painted his gun pink, and Twitter would have praised him for being so empowered and stepping back from his "white male privilege" to all a woman to kill that animal.

Joe Biden's 2023 State of the Union is

Joe Biden is running for president again and his second State of the Union address was his campaign manifesto headlined by the notion of "finish the job" as his rallying cry. Most Americans today, however, want Biden to finish up his job and move over for someone else. Clearly, this president has no intention of backing down from an all-out effort to stay in office even as polls show a majority of Democrats want him to stick to one term. First, let’s cover what was not in the speech. Inflation – the nation’s number one problem – got almost no mention.

Remember when we were told that the army of new IRS agents Biden wants to hire was only going to go after billionaires? Good times. If that’s the case, somebody should check to see if Bill Gates and Elon Musk have taken some side gigs slinging hash at a diner somewhere. (Of course, in Musk’s case it may come to that if he can’t get 10 million more people to sign up for Twitter Blue.) As it turns out, the Tax Man is launching a new program to crack down on tips received by wait staff in the food and beverage industry. That’s right.

On Friday, Pierre Rutledge, chair of the Black Affairs Advisory Board, issued an apology to Governor DeSantis. Days before, a member of the volunteer board called DeSantis “racist” because the governor rejected an African-American history Advanced Placement course. The College Board removed parts of the course last Wednesday that was opposed by DeSantis. The course will be reevaluated by the Florida Department of Education.DeSantis supported the Department of Education’s decision to remove the history course, because he said it pushed a political agenda. “This course on Black history, what’s one of the lessons about? Queer theory,” DeSantis said.

Last Friday, just before President Joe Biden left for another of his many long weekends away from the White House, reporters vainly asked him about the Chinese surveillance balloon that had been meandering around in U.S. airspace since Jan. 28. Our commander-in-chief offered no response beyond a smirk and a vacant stare. The “spy balloon,” as it has been dubbed by the media, is a good metaphor for the Biden administration’s foreign policy — lighter than air and potentially dangerous.

The Republican-led House Judiciary Committee is seeking testimony from FBI whistleblowers to attempt to get around the Biden administration's "stonewalling" on providing information about the investigations into former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. The new revelation about congressional oversight on the classified documents saga is just the latest example of how Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has used whistleblowers to shed light on issues inside the FBI.Jordan and other Republicans have previously revealed that FBI whistleblowers have alleged serious flaws in how the bureau has conducted major investigations, including those related to Hunter Biden, the Capitol riot, and parental protests at school board meetings.

Donald Trump is not stupid. His opponents have always underestimated him because of the colloquial way he talks–sounding vastly different than most people in the highly educated class. Not sounding educated, they assume he isn’t and by extension isn’t smart. But in recent weeks Trump has been acting as if he is stupid, and I have to say I am surprised. Trump has been attacking Ron DeSantis on the COVID lockdown issue, arguing that the governor’s reputation as a freedom fighter is unearned. Trump even implies that DeSantis was something of a COVID fascist, while Trump himself was fighting to reopen the American economy. That is a profoundly stupid line of attack.

The pandemic sparked a restlessness in American life, with many families opting to move in search of more space or a lower cost of living. That trend continued in 2022, with hundreds of thousands of people uprooting their lives and moving to new states. But some regions are benefitting from an influx of new residents — a trend that can help those areas grow their economies and expand their tax bases — while others are witnessing a net loss of residents. About 25 U.S. states saw more people move within their boundaries last year, while about 25 states lost residents or were relatively flat,

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday brushed off former President Trump’s latest attacks with a simple message: Check the scoreboard. Asked during a news conference about Trump’s criticism over the weekend of his approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, DeSantis responded with a reminder that he won reelection last year by the largest margin of any Republican Florida governor in the state’s modern history. “When you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You got to steer that ship. And the good thing is, is that the people are able to render a judgment on that — whether they reelect you or not,” DeSantis said.

During the last few years, most conservatives have become at least dimly aware that leftist ideology, in the guise of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), has infected public education. It’s unlikely, however, that many Americans realize just how far the disease has advanced. It has long since spread beyond a few courses embedded into the social studies curricula of secondary schools and elite colleges. Public school students as young as 9 and 10 years of age effortlessly recite leftist shibboleths even as they descend into functional illiteracy in reading, writing, math, and science.

In the days before George Washington was to set a historic precedent by taking the oath of office and becoming the first president of the United States, he was often heard to say, “I walk on untrodden ground.” The reluctant Washington no doubt understood that, as one Mount Vernon historian wrote, “the precedents he set must make the presidency powerful enough to function effectively in the national government, but at the same time these practices could not show any tendency toward monarchy or dictatorship.” He also understood that how he constructed and conducted this first presidency would set standards and practices for every president to follow.

He was ensconced behind that golden EIB microphone; a master of ideas and argument. From his lofty height, he engaged with every thorny problem with an equanimity that drew a placid sagacity from an ocean of experience, and confidence. After all, Rush was “documented almost always right 99.7% of the time.” He was a compass that always pointed the precise bearing to truth. He was the constitutionalists’ loadstar.

Somehow, the weirdest thing that happened at the State of the Union was not Joe Biden proclaiming that he’ll veto any legislation that raises the cost of “frisizhnjubs,” a line I’m still trying to figure out. Instead, it involved a pre-speech kiss delivered by Jill Biden to Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff. Honestly, I have no idea what happened here. When I first saw that, I tried to rationalize it. Maybe non-family members kiss on the lips like that routinely and I just missed it all this time.
