Per the Consumer Price Index, egg prices have spiked 66% since last year.
People around the globe have found themselves paying more for eggs at stores due to over 41 million egg-laying hens dying from the avian flu, but also as rampant inflation under the Biden regime causing prices to erratically jump among suppliers and subsequently among common consumer products. Egg prices have gone from $1.71 per dozen 18 months ago to an average over $7 per dozen today.

What is amazing is that there are idiots that will buy these eggs. They are not scrambled but they are a scam.

What a foolish thing to waste money on.
Carbon is good, not harmful.

Ummm okay. Are we supposed to clap?
Well when we had our laying flock, I would compost the goodness from their coop and run and every late fall top off my garden spot with it. Best tomatoes you ever ate. Slice, add salt and pepper and they went well with fried eggs from my girls.
THAT beats "carbon neutral" (whatever that even means) by a country mile!!
Oh and Publix beats the pants off Kroger!!

I was in Kroger's not 2 hours ago. That wasn't posted on the egg case. I expect you mean some other Kroger in about six other states (besides Ohio).

Dumbness to the Nth. A living, carbon-neutral zygote produced by a creature on a planet where all life forms are carbon-based is a figment of someone's imagination.

I quit going to our local Kroger years ago. I really liked the store but they would never open enough registers which is I guess an effort to force people into self checkout to save money. I now see where self checkouts are having to deal with a lot of fraud by people slipping stuff through without scanning the items. We may have to go back to the days where everything was stored in the back and the clerk got your item and brought them to the counter.

Did anyone read the article? It’s much better living conditions for the chickens and the eggs are produced and shipped locally. When we were in trucking we’d pick up eggs in Loda IL and deliver them to Kroger in Houston. There are egg farms in Wharton TX (close to Houston) but we’d take those to FL. It made no sense to me. They’re calling it something that sounds stupid but they’re not the worst ideas I’ve heard.

Nothing is carbon neutral.
Carbon Neutral is the new Organic, that's all.
Next will probably be "Bug Free".
Which will also be a lie.
But, people who have never seen
what free range chicken actually eat
will never know why...

The US government created the avian flu epidemic, first by lying about their inspection results, and when some farmers got wise, deliberately infected the chickens during their later inspections. Stop pretending.

During Trump before Covid I was buying eggs at $0.57/doz. 2 weeks ago they were $9 at my local store. I think mathematically that works out to about a 1,600% increase.
My local town just passed an ordinance that anyone can raise up to 3 egg layers in their backyard with no permits. The coyotes and racoons are going to be ecstatic.

41 million chickens did not die from the avian flu. A huge percentage of them were not infected. But because a handful of chickenS had the virus all were cullen. That means they were killed, sometimes in horrible ways, by the government.

Do the Carbon-Neutral chickens wear diapers as prescribed by Bill Gates? Enquiring minds want to know.

From the article: "Rather than eating traditional corn-based feed, Krouse’s hens eat repurposed bakery by-products, and their manure is turned into organic fertilizer."
What is "repurposed bakery by-products" and what processes occurred for those products?

Further down in the article it mentions Tractor Supply selling chicken feed that may be linked to chickens laying fewer eggs or none at all. That is disturbing in and of itself.

Yeah, listened to our yearly state of the company webcast yesterday. Big push for sustainable and green. CO2 reductions got a lot of emphasis. Oh well, Lord willing I will retire sometime next year.
