The co-founder of Home Depot slammed 'woke people,' said nobody wants to work anymore and called Joe Biden 'the worst president in history' for putting obstacles in the way of entrepreneurial success.
Bernie Marcus, 93, believes that the success the company he began with Arthur Blank in 1978 couldn't happen today.
He said: 'We would end up with 15, 16 stores. I don’t know that we could go further' because of people standing in the way of the business community.
Marcus added that he's worried about capitalism and said thanks to socialism, 'Nobody works.

Why buy a cow with so much free milk at hand? The word Entitled used to have a positive connotation. It meant an honor or privilege bestowed upon one deserving of it. Now, it's generational Gimees.

Because of WELFARE. There used to be a clear connection between working and eating, and living indoors.
Now housing if free, food is free, everything you need can be obtained by government handout. So, huge numbers of folks have just said....."Why work?" and they don't give a damn unless they are hungry or tossed out....and then, they just move into a tent in a park and beg. NOT work.

It's as old as Aesop - remember the Ant and the Grasshopper. It's Marxism, take from the productive and distribute to those who are not productive. What's new is the Government enabling and promoting the behavior. How many individuals have left the workforce - 10 million? How many jobs are open - 10 million? Yet Lame Duck brags about the unemployment rate. Welcome to a bizzaro America.

One reason unemployment is low is because millions have simply left the workforce. The world Mr Marcus grew up in has just about disappeared.

'Bout to get worse as His Majesty just lifted long-term welfare use as an obstacle to citizenship. Being a burden is no longer frowned upon and you're a stingy racist hater if you object. Subject to penalty. And fines - they're going to need much more money.

During the panicdemic many were making more money not working than they made working. Not much of an incentive to work. Not to go off topic but Quid Pro Joe is the reason there is a tax on Social Security income. At one time there was no federal tax on SSN income. Then senilator Bidet got a 50 % tax. Later he got it boosted to 85%. Once The Vegetable gets his new 85,000 IRS agents things are going to get really bleak.

Yes and no. It isn't quite that simple. The labor shortage means there are not enough experienced manager types. Because of that, they hire inexperienced ones who do not lead, they order and bully. They crack the whip and belittle people, often asking unreasonable things from their employees. I'm in that now.
Mrs C left nursing ten years ago. If a nurse would quit, they would not hire a replacement for a while, if ever. The additional work load was shifted to the remaining nurses. 7 days a week of 12 hour shifts was not uncommon. More would eventually tire of it and quit themselves and the downward spiral continues. No job is worth killing yourself for.

Redistributing taxpayer wealth to people who don't work, college students who don't want to pay their debts, and importing masses of impoverished illegal aliens into the US sounds like a great way to finish off the US taxpayer. The US middle class got a raw deal with Obama and Biden. No wonder so many solid citizens are skeptical about their votes being counted.

I notice Home Depot has been strangely excluded from the woke shop lifting and looting movement.
First of all, ballpeen hammers are uncomfortably close by for potential victims to defend themselves. And it seems such perpetrators are not gonna go home and build a deck.
Wokesters looting Home Depot would be be like a brood of vampires looting a chapel with Holy Water fonts at every door.
Love that place.

The political class is a collective of group think mediocrity, none of whom have built anything in the private sector——Mitch, Mitt, Barack, Joe, Chuck, Lyndsey, Mario, Susan, Barbara, Nancy....all of them seat holders from some larger puppet master...Chinese, big pharma, Wall Street, insurance/health care, public employee unions, planned parenthood, none of which benefit individuals, believe in God or capitalism, freedom
We have a handful of free market limited government voices..Trump of course, Ron Johnson, Paul, Cruz... it’s a short list.

My first job was a paper route. Rain, sleet or snow I delivered the paper and put them on the front porch. If I managed my collections and new subscriptions properly I might clear 15 to 20 bucks a month. Wasn’t much but looking back on a job well done in all sorts of weather off the back of a bicycle was worth it. Pride in work, any kind of work, was a life lesson that has served me well through out my entire life. Today, it seems, work is beneath too many folks.

Suck it up. Other big stores just get with the spirit of wokeness, double down on diversity and free everything if you are the proper color and send in their monthly payment to BLM. The white kids just prefer working from their basements. Is that so hard to swallow?

#15, Your personal history is very similar to my husband’s. He worked a very large paper route until he was able to get a job at 16 and has continued to do so. He understands the need for a strong work ethic and that being responsible in every area of life is the key to a successful and meaningful life. This has been a core value in our family because it produces success along with self-respect and self-satisfaction.
Democrats want to wipe out the value of work. They see it as having very little value. We have changed as a nation and not for the better. Some parents are too soft on their kids. They don’t teach them the value of work or a job well done. They reward laziness and then wonder why their kids aren’t more productive. Raising responsible kids who value work is not easy. You have to start early and set an example and have high expectations for your children. Nothing is free. Someone always pays even the fools who choose the welfare life don’t understand how they are nothing but chattels of big government and it is costing them their souls. A government that will give you everything is the same one that can take it all from you. Government has destroyed more lives than have been lost in any war. It’s a long slow death wherein you lose all your self-respect before you die.
Human beings were created to be productive and build families and communities in order to have lives that are meaningful. This is the foundation for a well ordered civilization. The evil cabal that has at its core mission an evil ideology that will destroy the family and personal property in order to gain control of humanity has taken major steps to accomplish that and has exploded during the past two years. They openly state, you will own nothing and be happy. Unfortunately, many will embrace the slavery that comes from embracing free stuff.

Our society suffers from its prosperity. The definition of "poverty" would be luxury in 75 percent of the world, and largely middle class in the rest. Our kids expect to start where their parents worked to get. Investors believe their investments should only gain 20 percent annually and that the government ought to manage the economy. We're wanting to be the "Leader of the Free World", spending our blood and treasure in places and causes that have no national interest, unwilling to leave nations where decades are spent "nation building", with these countries unable to defend themselves when we finally leave. Schools that teach no practical skills, with "diversity" the goal...retarding merit and dissuading white males from trying. The list is long and growing.

Dems have always wanted the people to be dependent on the govt for food , clothing , shelter and everything else needed in life. It's how you control the people,.............you own them. The killing off of capitalism by the dems/libs/progs has always been their # 1 goal.

HD's other co-founder, Ken Langone, says exactly the same things Marcus does. Sometimes, I will tune into CNBC's Squawk Box program in the morning when Langone makes a guest appearance on the program to discuss America's economic picture and how he skillfully dresses down that lefty little twerp Andrew Sorkin with the successes that capitalism has brought to America.

I agree with all of the replies here. As to the CEO of Home Depot, I am troubled because of my recent experience with Home Depot. I am not here to air out my dirty laundry, so to speak, but Home Depot's response was very, very disappointing. In a nutshell, we spent thousands of dollars for a repair to our whole house and received substandard customer service. Home Depot didn't seem to care - that is all I will say. Home Depot wanted to feel as little pain in what they did. Trust me, if I would have been allowed to have a conversation with Bernie Marcus, it would have occurred. We do not shop there very much anymore. Sadly as it was my go to place.
I will say this - there seems to be immaturity on both sides. CEO's, managers or high-level positions are paid top dollar in a company and some of those people can't even think their way out of a brown paper bag. Yet, they continue to be paid top dollar while people in lesser positions that are paid less have to make up for the lack of thinking at the top level. The other side of the coin is some of the people in lower positions think they should receive more pay and raises but perform as little as possible.
I guess I am exhausted with leadership and the work ethic that has deteriorated greatly. Such a shame as we forget the blessings of this wonderful country. . .

The goal is to make everyone dependent upon government for everything, thereby solidifying their power as the hand that cuts the pie. When people must look to the gov’t to eat, heat, get better and drive cars, the gov’t has the people by the short hairs. Only Democrats like this setup. They are the ones with the totalitarian bent. Nauseating people.

Perhaps the coming inflation bubble will wake them up...there's just so much the entitlements can buy when the groceries and gas keep going up....it will be fun to watch when President Trump takes over again....he'll straighten out the budget quickly...and fire the political patronage people to save money...WE need 10,000 politicians off the government payroll and then tackle the wall problem....and best of all....close down the FBI and fire the DOJ....ah...to dream the impossible dream....

Big stores like Home Depot contract out their installation and repair services and they have little control over a bad job other than to not use those same contractors in the future. That is why they might seem to dodge responsibility. Once the sale is over they are finished with you. It's an efficient workable business model but sometimes the customer is left hanging. I attempt to do my own work after purchasing an appliance or materials and I can only blame myself if the work is shoddy. Surprisingly I get better results than when I use a contractor and my costs are cut in half. Youtube is packed with videos on how to do everything from installing a hot water heater to staining your wood floor.
This guy is right on target when complaining about HR people. They used to focus on hiring, firing and preparing paychecks and that was it. Now HR specialists are supposed to be psychological counselors, diversity and inclusion monitors and babysitters, none of it in the best interests of the business. Unfortunately most of their activity is government mandated - Nuff said.

Free government stimulus money is probably one of the worst ideas ever to come out of DC. Now we are hearing murmurings about a new mask mandate? Why go to work when you might lose your job at any moment? All this has the greasy paw prints of Obama and Soros all over it. They have the ultimate fall guy to hide behind named Biden.
