Departing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi raised the maximum rate that lawmakers can pay House staff for a second time this year, totaling $212,000.
Earlier this year, Pelosi issued a directive that raised the pay rate from $199,300 to $203,700. She also issued the minimum salary pay for House staff of $45,000.
Pelosi defended her action, saying that it would help Congress retain quality staff who might potentially look for outside opportunities from private employers.
“As you know, our hard-working, patriotic congressional staffers are integral to the functioning of the House of Representatives," Pelosi wrote in a letter to House lawmakers,

The next speaker should undo this, just as Biden undid all of Trump's policies.

Is this because of the inflation they have caused or the impending depression at the end of the recession they have caused?

It must be nice to wave your magic money wand and give staffers huge raises. To Pelosi, this isn't real money, it's government money. She is used to throwing government money around like monopoly money. It is only taxpayers money after all.

#4, for sure! The politicians need to protect themselves from the policies that they DO to US.
It is so disappointing that our Govt has become the enemy of the people. They steal from us and give it to our adversaries that in turn want to harm us. Something has to change.

Truth be known congressional staffers do all the work- if you want to call it that. On the positive side by losing the majority hundreds of democrat staff members will be fired due to reduced committee assignments . Of course they will find high paying federal government jobs instead. Drain the swamp.

If Republicans don't get their act together quickly, the next speaker could be another Democrat.

It’s not funny but with the help of some of the “UniParty” wimpy establishment Republicans, and of course the RINOS, the leftist, progressive, and socialist congressional Democrats were able to effectively castrate the congressional Republicans ability to determine how much money will be appropriated in the House of Representatives for about the next nine months, even before the wimpy Republicans take over control of the House of Representatives. Besides even if the wimpy Republicans do attempt to appropriate money to fund their future programs the 101% partisan leftist Democrat career politician Biden will simply veto those Republican appropriation bills with a hearty laugh unless they are loaded up with Democrat pork.

FTA: "Pelosi defended her action, saying that it would help Congress retain quality staff who might potentially look for outside opportunities from private employers." Truth be told, the best thing for our country would be for these 'quality staff' to have to look for employment in private industry. They add a lot to the black hole we find ourselves in. They stay in place for years and tell the new elected what they will be doing. Also I remember Hitlery had over 200 employees in her office and McPain had around 160 in his office. Really???

Ah yes, the old "quality staff" mantra. Like any private employer would hire a government worker at any price. At least a couple of people will like Nancy after she is gone because she bought them.

The clubby nature of House (and Senate) extends down to the lowest rank staff too. Many many are children of, grandchildren of, nieces and nephews of, and in-laws of politicians or party officials of some sort. Of course, they will be loyal to party, keep their mouths shut about what they see and hear. The best and brightest hired in government? Stifle giggle here.

Don't be surprised if Pelosi becomes Speaker again in Jan 2025. She's still in Congress and she wants that job back. The Dems will stop at nothing to cheat their way into permanent power.

I really hate to beat a DEAD HORSE, but I feel I have to point out AGAIN one of my constant suggestions;
Term Limits for Senators to twelve years!!
Term Limits for all Congress critters to ten years.
And here is the plum; Term Limits for ALL of the aids in Washington to ten years. These aids are, to me at least, the real problem because the lazy Congress people and the lazy Senator people do whatever these layabouts suggest, as again they do ALL of the work. And I do mean ALL of the work.

$212 K is a pittance in relation to the perks and kicback rewards many, not all, of them receive. Both during and after their “service” to the country. Consider the cost of returning those favors required to get them elected. As I mention, many, not all of them. In theory, we still have the best form of government.
