Some New York lawmakers are renewing the push for a state law that would lay the groundwork to pay reparations to black residents whose ancestors were enslaved.
Proponents gained steam after a task force in California last week recommended that the Golden State shell out $569 billion in reparations to slaves’ descendents there, or $223,200 apiece, because of lingering housing discrimination practices.
A previously proposed New York measure called for creating a commission to study the impact of slavery and providing reparations but failed to pass the legislature. It is now being revised, backers said.

They might want to wait until all of the NY (identify as) black residents move west to share in the CA bounty

Blatant vote buying scheme. Along with welfare, food stamps (cards) and student loan forgiveness. Disgusting politicians.

It will be interesting to see what proof will be required or could be provided that someone’s ancestors were slaves. My guess is that the only qualification will be brown skin.

the Confederacy was defeated 157 years ago, so it is not available for reparations. The Union, liberating the slaves, was not a party to their misery, so it is not culpable for reparations.
However, The Democrat Party, chief practitioner of slavery, is still around with millions of registered Democrats able to pay. Send them the bill.

My family settled in NY before the revolution, traded with the natives for land, ran a station on the underground railroad...EVERY male over 16yo enlisted and fought to free the southern slaves, several as officers with "Coloured Troops", outfitting, arming , training, supporting those units from their own pockets...three died in that war, 4 were seriously injured, crippled for life.My fathers namesake who was 15yo and left at home met a young lady, a freed slave, as she passed through on her way to canada...when the war was over she came back....and they married. Do WE get paid some sort of Reparations for the actual expenses and damages? Or is it simply reserved for those that OTHERS already paid a price to free?
Payments to be made primarily by people descended from people who were not even IN America during that time...that immigrated, poor, from Europe by the shiploads in the decades well after the Civil War.

Qualifications? How will this workout? Stand in line if you ain't black enough and have 'good hair' you don't qualify. You must be brown or darker with kinky bad hair to get a check. This will be easy, no paperwork required.

So can the Irish who were brought here as indentured servants and cost a lot less than African slaves, also line up for this payout?
What about the Italians who fell victim to mob run business because they couldn’t get a job anywhere else?
How about the Chinese who built significant portions of the railroads and were treated as less than?
No need for Native Americans to line up?
See what I’m getting at?

Notice they never call for commissions to hold those responsible for slavery accountable, because that always leads back to the Democrat Party.

Any reparations that get paid should come out of the coffers of the DNC, since it was the Democrats who profited from slavery in the South, fought the Civil War to protect slavery, created the KKK and Jim Crow laws, and refused to enact Civil Rights legislation for 40 years.
If the DNC has insufficient funding for reparations, seize the assets of George Soros, Nancy Pelosi, and all Democrats on Capital Hill. And don't forget the Biden's !!

New York is already broke and will be expecting federal grants to pay for this outrage. What if some of their ancestors had been enslaved in Africa by their own people and came here later as free people? Who owes them? Same goes for Newsom and his even grander vote-buying scheme.

I DEMAND REPARATIONS!
My entire working career, I had to deal with 'Affirmative Action', which is a Bowdlerized version of official racial discrimination against White Men.
The ideal of hiring and promoting the best worker, the best performing employee, has long been made a mockery in the Federal service.
I demand reparations and compensation for a career-long atmosphere of official Racial and Sexual Discrimination against the group of which I am a member.

Yet another vote buying scheme that will run out of funds, only to be bailed out down the road by the taxpayers of the other 49 states.
