Townhall has reported on several situations in which Americans took advantage of COVID-19 pandemic programs and defrauded the government to enrich themselves at the expense of taxpayers, but it turns out there were also perfectly legal loopholes that allowed wealthy Americans to take unemployment benefits — even those who had annual incomes over $1 million. Recent data released by the IRS reveal that thousands of Americans — 19,003 to be exact — reported receiving unemployment compensation in 2020 despite having adjusted gross income of greater than $1 million that year. The amount of unemployment compensation that those millionaires received totaled $263,794,000.

There have been some just outright shameless takes when it comes to how Hurricane Ian is headed for Florida, where Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is in charge. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) went a particular step by incorporating it into the upcoming November midterms. While calling into MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday morning, she used the hurricane as an opportunity to campaign for Democrats now just six weeks before the November 8. Klobuchar herself isn't up for re-election until 2024. (snip) "We just did something about climate change, for the first time in decades. That's why we've gotta win this, as that hurricane bears down on Florida."

It's no secret that the mainstream media and liberal pundit class are not fans of Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. From the day he took office, through COVID, and amid Biden's border crisis, the media has never resisted an opportunity — however frivolous — to attack the man known to conservatives as "America's Governor." (snip) But now, even the media has found another low with their anti-DeSantis attacks: salivating over the chance for a hurricane to devastate Florida and make its governor look bad.

Sea level rise is increasing at a dramatic rate. Scientists at the University of Miami warn that if we don't act soon, coastal cities and towns will slowly diminish.
Scientists say a few decades from now, downtown Miami will be underwater.
The tide is coming in and eventually it's not going to go back out," says Dr. Harold Wanless, a Geologist and Professor of Geography and Sustainable Development at University of Miami. So what does that mean for us? According to Dr. Wanelss's research, by the year 2060, nearly 60% of Miami-Dade county will be underwater.

Several pro-abortion Democratic lawmakers sent a letter to Google urging the company to give “accurate” search results pertaining to abortion procedures. The lawmakers specifically ask the search platform to direct women to abortion clinics instead of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers.
The letter, led by Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), was signed by 14 senators and seven representatives.
In the letter, the pro-abortion lawmakers refer to crisis pregnancy centers as “fake clinics.” It cites a study conducted by the Center for Countering Digital Hate, “a U.S.-based nonprofit that fights online hate and misinformation.”

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine.
The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

Five centrist Democratic senators have reportedly told the White House that they’ll oppose the nomination of Saule Omarova, President Joe Biden’s controversial lefty pick for head of the Treasury Department’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
The opposition from both Republicans and, now, some of Biden’s own party could kill the nomination of the Soviet-born academic to the critically important post, In a Wednesday phone call, Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), all members of the Senate Banking Committee, told Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), the panel’s chairman, that they oppose Omarova’s nomination to the post, according to Axios.

Since July 1, there's been a 700% increase in the week-over-week average of COVID-19 infections in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The information was presented Friday at CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices meeting during a discussion of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for immunocompromised patients.
"There's no doubt we're seeing a surge in cases now," said Dr. William Moss, a professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The January 6th insurrection made clear the increasing dangers of domestic extremism in the U.S. But with social media spreading online disinformation at an alarming rate, how can law enforcement and experts hope to stop the flow of white supremacist propaganda? Some believe teaching people how to recognize false information and stop them from becoming radicalized in the first place is the best strategy. Methods developed from these partnerships include teaching students about democratic values, providing mental health and job counseling, and educating youths on how radicalization works. CORRECTIONS*

If Democrats win in November, they already vow to destroy one branch of government and transform the U.S. Senate into another House of Representatives, where a simple majority rules and "fickleness and passion" carry the day, to quote James Madison. (snip) In a classic Olbermann deranged rant, the former MSNBC host breathed fire and brimstone at President Trump and all of his supporters, who Olbermann wants "prosecuted, convicted, and removed" from society.

Texas reported more than 10,000 additional Covid-19 cases Tuesday, a record-breaking daily surge in cases as the state responds to a growing outbreak and an increase in hospitalizations.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission reported 10,028 new cases, which surpasses the state’s previous record of nearly 8,260 cases set on July 4.
There were 9,268 people in the state’s hospitals with Covid-19 as of Tuesday, another daily record. Public health experts watch hospitalizations closely because it can indicate how severe an outbreak is in an area.

Here is another prime example of why massive spending efforts by the federal government should always be vigorously opposed. No one is ever held accountable to ensure that the money is fairly and honestly distributed, or for hunting down the grifters who steal from the American taxpayer. Economic stimulus, COVID stimulus, infrastructure, student loan forgiveness- it's all the same. Just throw out money and watch it get gobbled up, and both parties are guilty.
