Outsourcing Robespierre

Lawyer to revolutionary to tyrant to butcher to victim of the forces he himself had unleashed — that was the arc of the life of Maximillian Robespierre. The architect of The Terror that engulfed France from 1792 until 1794, Robespierre may have been the first despot of the mind. Throughout history, kings and emperors and such had raged across the world, killing people for power and land and glory and to obliterate opponents. But Robespierre's elected dictatorship was the first to systematically kill people in its own territory for not thinking the right way, for not blindly following his lead

Very good article. I've always thought Robespierre was one of history's greatest monsters. He wasn't motivated by money, power or the desire to gain land. All he cared about was that everyone thought the right thoughts. And he would send anyone to the guillotine with no qualm whatsoever.

Warning to readers, last in the list of R.'s statements of principle has a confusing typo: "When will their interest be confounded with the one of the people? NEVER." I think the word intended was "cofound."or "co-found." The mistake is confounding.

France still celebrate Bastille Day as a national holiday. Margaret Thatcher was made to sit behind the front row after reciting the horrors of the Revolution during her visit in 1989. The French didn’t like what she said.

History and future in a capsule: (FTA) ''Making terrible examples of those who have outraged liberty? That's cancel culture, the FBI raiding homes, people getting sentenced to years in prison for trespassing on public property, and the overt criminal targeting of anyone who is perceived as an enemy.'' Take two before bed and call the doctor in the morning. If you wake up.

FTA: "...Robespierre's elected dictatorship was the first to systematically kill people in its own territory for not thinking the right way,..." I don't think so. Maybe Robespierre was the first to advocate a non-theistic "thinking the right way" to justify killing people, but I'm not sure of that, either. Maybe the "systematically" qualifier sets him apart. Or that he just wrote everything down.

Robespierre and the French Revolution were founded in the political philosophy of Jean-Jaques Rousseau. He was a deist like Thomas Jefferson who believed in democracy as long as it was run by an all-powerfull executive. He wrote that we only had the right to obey the "general will" which was essentially the consensus of the majority who expressed the divine will. Individuals were only free to obey the general will and if you didn't agree with it you could be "forced to be free". He was the original "proto-socialist". This is the "by any means necessary" ethic that we see in Hitler, Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Xi Jingping and the leftist extremists in the West today. They have replaced the deity with the cult-of-the-personality but its the same tyranny any way you cut it.

Surprised by the Midterm Election Results?
Take a Look at the Data

For many Republicans, the final midterm election results were surprising— especially in the states of Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. Based on polling, it looked likely that Kari Lake, Adam Laxalt, and Mehmet Oz would win their contests. I believe that there are only three likely explanations for the unexpected results: late campaign surges, polling error, or aggressive ballot-harvesting. A late surge? Some Republicans are falling for an illogical narrative put forth by Democrats and the mainstream media.
Violent crime comes to previously peaceful

The previously unimaginable has happened: The storybook island of Martha’s Vineyard, the seasonal home of billionaires and hundreds of elite cultural and political movers and shakers, not to mention one of three year-round homes of the Obamas, has finally experienced that rarity previously limited to the mainland: violent gun crime. And surprise: The alleged perpetrators are not MAGA white nationalists. Rather, evidence so far points to migrants, possibly of the illegal kind. This is a bitter pill for most Vineyard residents to swallow. The island’s six towns have all declared themselves to be sanctuary communities.

Attorney General Merrick Garland has just announced the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith. But Smith’s team will not look into the Biden family quid pro quo syndicate nor its incriminating confessionals on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Instead, it will further investigate Donald Trump’s possession of presidential records that were hauled off from Mar-a-Lago, as well as his purported role in the January 6 “insurrection.” We know the script that will follow because we suffered through it for 22 months and spent $40 million

I really can’t stand Nancy Pelosi, the hypocritical fraud tossed out on her boney rear end by the American public in the last election. The soon to be former Speaker of the House, historic in that she lost the House of Representatives twice, has always been a power-mad post-digested food human exit port (I’m trying to keep it clean while being disgusted by her existence, forgive me). But (no pun intended) on her way out the door, she has decided to become even worse. The woman has made a fortune in “public service,” seeing her family’s net worth skyrocket to somewhere between $200 and $300 million

At the Federalist, Jordan Boyd offers up a proposed agenda for the new House of Representatives. The Republicans have won a majority. How great is still to be determined. Officially the count is 218, but Lauren Boebert’s opposition, Adam Frisch, conceded. If the certification matches the ballot count that would make the total 219, and they are still counting two districts in California in which the Republican candidates are leading so the count may be as high as 221.Certification of results in at least one county in Arizona are being held up pending examination of the voting machines, and other counties may follow.

Six years out of office, and the Obamas still esteem themselves oracles of racial justice and authorities of truth concerning America’s flaws. As witnessed at the recent unveiling of the Obamas' official White House portraits, in a photo taken in the Oval Office, both Barack and Michelle are positioned shamelessly front and center. Still smarting from the reproof of 2016, the Obamas take any opportunity to publicly defame the character of the political outsider who upset the collective vision Barack hoped Hillary Clinton would set in stone – as well as the people who voted for him.

Is it just a coincidence that a slew of articles appeared in the nation's socialist media with almost the same storyline to expect delays in election results? Up until a few days ago, the nation's far left and the nation's socialist media were silent about how long it would take for the midterm results to be resolved. Then, as someone else noticed, they all published almost identical versions of the same article: "prepare to wait for election results that could take many days." Almost all of them within the same narrow timespan:

The 80 year-old president regularly reminds people he is the only person who has beaten Trump, and he remains confident that he's the man to repeat that feat in 2024, The New York Times reported. Biden previously billed himself as a single term transitional president who'd bridge the gap between the chaos of the Trump years, and the emergence of a younger Democrat successor. But he's since announced a plan to run again in 2024, despite already being the oldest president in US history.  'Why would he get out now?'

A national freight rail strike is viewed as increasingly inevitable as four rail worker labor unions have rejected a tentative agreement with rail companies. In September, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh brokered a tentative deal between rail unions and rail carriers while President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were out of town. Union concerns centered around sick time and scheduling, and Walsh’s work appeared to have avoided a strike that had the potential for far-reaching consequences on the American economy. However, the deal has fallen to pieces, and the clock is ticking as a December 9 strike looms. On Monday, members of SMART Transportation Division,
