DECATUR, Ga. (CBS46) - A DeKalb County commission candidate is being criticized for using what some are calling a racially-insensitive phrase. It’s costing her a major endorsement just weeks before the primary. “It’s hard right now to even find law enforcement. One of my clients -- I’m actually doing an American Rescue Plan project in a municipality. Prior to the ‘racial uprisings,’ they would get roughly about a hundred applications,” said Democratic candidate Michelle Long Spears on April 19 at a forum.

Comments:

Georgia democrat pays the price when she fails to praise BLM as valiant Social Justice Warriors.

I saw black people in all major cities in the country looting, burning and throwing things at the police. Now they are murdering people all over the place. If that isn't a racial uprising then it's some kind of ceremonial crime ritual to which the government has not given a name yet and created an official holiday.

Surprised the author didn't blame spell check. She could have said she meant radical uprising. One letter switched by the computer with unfortunate results. Either way you put it, racial uprising or radical uprising, it accurately describes the George Floyd riots.

“I apologize for my comments, that they were insensitive, hurtful or any way minimizing the Black Lives Matter movement,” she expressed her opinion...and then apologized for saying what she believes. If I was voting in DeKalb County my vote would definitely not be for such a weak personality.

Last month, Gazi Kodzo, the leader of the extremist sect the Black Hammer Party, led a small band of followers on a protest march through downtown Atlanta, threatening Mayor Andre Dickens and the Atlanta Police. President Joe Biden is banning traditional incandescent lightbulbs in a push to be more energy efficient, but critics claim the switch to LED alternatives will prove costly for poorer Americans. The Department of Energy (DOE) adopted two new rules Tuesday that strengthen energy efficiency standards for lightbulbs and will effectively phase out the sale of traditional bulbs by next year. However, consumer analysts allege that not only are LED bulbs more expensive, costing nearly $4 each as opposed to $1 for an incandescent bulb, but are often not stocked in stores in lower-income communities. Around 30 percent of the two billion bulbs sold in the US every year are incandescent.
