DECATUR, Ga. (CBS46) - A DeKalb County commission candidate is being criticized for using what some are calling a racially-insensitive phrase. It’s costing her a major endorsement just weeks before the primary. “It’s hard right now to even find law enforcement. One of my clients -- I’m actually doing an American Rescue Plan project in a municipality. Prior to the ‘racial uprisings,’ they would get roughly about a hundred applications,” said Democratic candidate Michelle Long Spears on April 19 at a forum.

Last month, Gazi Kodzo, the leader of the extremist sect the Black Hammer Party, led a small band of followers on a protest march through downtown Atlanta, threatening Mayor Andre Dickens and the Atlanta Police.
He announced that he was armed with “a lot of guns” and had security for anyone who tried to shut him up. “Kill the police!” Kodzo shouted into a bullhorn as a follower with a cell phone camera beamed the march to the group’s YouTube channel. “To get free, you’ve got to kill the pigs.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has reportedly said that Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy sometimes sounds like a "stupid son of a b****" because of questions the network gives him to ask. On January 24, President Joe Biden was caught on a hot mic calling Doocy "a stupid son of a b****" after the Fox News journalist asked the president if inflation would be a "political liability in the midterms."

LONDON (Reuters) - The Kremlin dismissed a remark by U.S. President Joe Biden on Saturday that Vladimir Putin "cannot remain in power," saying it was up to Russians to choose their own president. Asked about Biden's comment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Reuters: "That's not for Biden to decide. The president of Russia is elected by Russians." A White House official said Biden, who was speaking in Warsaw, had not been calling for "regime change" in Russia but his point was that "Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region".

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Some countries might send in a riot squad to disperse trespassing protesters. In New Zealand, authorities turned on the sprinklers and Barry Manilow. Initial moves to try and flush out several hundred protesters who have been camped on Parliament's grassy grounds since Tuesday had little effect. The protesters, who have been voicing their opposition to coronavirus vaccine mandates, responded to the soaking from the sprinklers by digging trenches and installing makeshift drainpipes to divert the water.

Former Georgia Republican Senator David Perdue launched his bid for governor of Georgia on Monday, setting up a high-stakes primary challenge against incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp. Perdue's decision comes just days after Democrat Stacey Abrams announced her campaign for governor, her second effort, after she lost to Kemp in 2018. Perdue's website went live late Sunday night and encouraged supporters to "join our team to stop Stacey Abrams." In his announcement video on Monday, Perdue attacked Abrams and accused Kemp and Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of dividing the GOP in Georgia.

U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath will run for Congress in a neighboring suburban district after Republicans redrew her congressional seat to be a conservative bastion. The move sets up a showdown with another Democrat, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux. McBath told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she’ll run in the 7th Congressional District, swing territory now held by Bourdeaux that Georgia’s Republican-controlled Legislature refashioned into a safe Democratic seat based in Gwinnett County.

A pit bull once owned by canine trainer Cesar Millan mauled one of Queen Latifah’s pets to death, and the reality TV star tried to cover up the attack by instructing his staff to tell the actress that her dog was hit by a car, according to a recently filed lawsuit. The alleged incident is one of the more shocking revelations cited in the legal action against the “Dog Whisperer” star, brought in California by a former gymnast who claims the same dog attacked her in 2017 and ruined her career, TMZ reported.
