WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Some countries might send in a riot squad to disperse trespassing protesters. In New Zealand, authorities turned on the sprinklers and Barry Manilow. Initial moves to try and flush out several hundred protesters who have been camped on Parliament's grassy grounds since Tuesday had little effect. The protesters, who have been voicing their opposition to coronavirus vaccine mandates, responded to the soaking from the sprinklers by digging trenches and installing makeshift drainpipes to divert the water.

Comments:

New Zealand's solution to get rid of Anti Vax protestors is to play rotten music. My suggestions are Johnny Rotten and Handel operas.

Hey, Manilow has nice music. Why not play rap or as OP suggested, opera.

The NZ government deserves to massively fail!!! Barry's music may be a little dated, but it was still good music and easy to listen to. The worst thing that could happen would be for the protestors to start singing along. And free showers to go with it. "Copa, Copacabana, the hottest spot north of Havana..."

New Zealand is another bigger-than-it's-britches government that is going to be taken down in a hurtful way. I believe the AssPress meant "earworn" but I think they are devoid of English-speaking staffers and editors these days.

Fortunately, it’s summer there so no one is freezing. I’m surprised and thrilled to see that there are protests going on and that there are still some sane people there. I’ve spent a lot of time there and it’s a mostly left leaning population, their only television news sources being their own leftist government network and CNN International. I was there for a month in July 2016 on a business trip and everyone asked me about Trump and were shocked to hear that I planned to vote for him. They had been shielded completely from Hillary’s four decades of blatant corruption.

So sad, so very sad to see the truly lovable Kiwis, those great friends who endured, and triumphed from that great trial of WW2, shoulder to shoulder through hellish swamps, shark infested waters and an evil enemy with their stalwart allies in Australia and America now reduced to perilous straights by a piranha faced leader, a supplicant of China and a gleeful cheerleader of New Zealand's demise. A duly elected, piranha faced leader, a supplicant of China and a gleeful cheerleader of New Zealand's demise.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is set on Tuesday to recommend fully vaccinated Americans wear masks indoors in at least some instances, as the more highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus has led to a surge in infections, sources said. That would mark a reversal of the CDC's announcement in May that prompted millions of vaccinated Americans to shed their face coverings. The CDC will announce revised mask guidance but the specifics of when the agency will recommend fully vaccinated Americans wear masks indoors are not fully clear, the sources said.
