Sound like a really good thing. I am not entirely sure what Mr. Musk will do, but if it really is "free speech" that will be a huge improvement.

I hope this will be a great step forward in promoting free speech for everyone -- but the mischievous part of me can't help but imagine what it would be like if Twitter were now to turn the tables and silence all left-wing speech on its platform, giving the leftists a taste of their own medicine and making their heads explode like Krakatoa.

The article couldn't even admit that the boards' chief objection to Musk's bid had nothing to do with the price, it was all about losing its political power to censor. I'd love to see why they changed their mind about the sale (if indeed, they actually did).

I would guess that such a blatant violation of fiduciary duty was going to end very badly for them. Given a choice between spending years subpoenaed before the SEC and cashing out for an enormous windfall, they decided to take the money.

#10 and #11, I would guess that the threat by Gov. DeSantis to sue for breach of fiduciary duty may have gotten their attention. That suit could have been joined by other states' pension plans, as well as other private pension plans. Once the board of directors got some straight talk from some good corporate lawyers, the scales starting falling from their eyes. It probably registered on the Richter Scale.

Facebook settled claims that it refused to recruit or hire U.S. workers for positions it set aside for temporary visa holders, the Department of Justice announced Tuesday. It also entered a separate settlement with the Department of Labor over potential recruitment violations through a program that makes jobs available to temporary visa holders. Under the program, companies must make good-faith efforts to recruit U.S. workers for the roles. The DOJ settlement stems from a complaint filed under the Trump administration in December 2020, claiming Facebook discriminated against U.S. workers by reserving certain posts for temporary visa holders from at least

Donald Trump had an incredible legacy as president, but sometimes he can be his own worst enemy. More broadly, as the leader of the Republican Party, he’s ensuring that his self-inflicted wounds damage not only his own (presumed) electoral chances but those of other Republicans as well. Clearly, Trump has yet to get over the fact that he is not the one currently sitting in the White House following the 2020 election. It’s true that millions of Americans wish he were currently the president, enacting policies to make America great. But as they say, if wishes were horses, then

In a recently published article titled “The Lab-Leak Theory: Inside the Fight to Uncover COVID-19’s Origins,” investigative journalist Katherine Eban details how individuals within the U.S. State Department sought to suppress any notion of the coronavirus having originated in a lab in Wuhan, China. Needless to say, the evidence presented of an intentional cover-up by deep state actors (and a complicit Leftmedia) is both compelling and deeply troubling. This scandal exposes the reality that political considerations motivated individuals within the State Department to hide the facts from the American people. Eban writes: Interviews with more than 40 people, and a

Two things occurred to our editorial team as we watched things spin out of control at the Capitol yesterday afternoon: First, we knew this would be one of those few-in-a-lifetime days that we remember because of its uniqueness and its gravity [Snip] Searching for some honor and decency amid the rubble that was January 6, 2021, we came across these simple words from Vice President Mike Pence: “It’s my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not.”

After a 16-month investigation into competitive practices at Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google, the House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust has released Tuesday its findings and recommendations on how to reform laws to fit the digital age. In a nearly 450-page report, the Democratic majority staff laid out their takeaways from hearings, interviews and the 1.3 million documents they scoured throughout the investigation. They conclude that the four Big Tech companies enjoy monopoly power and suggest Congress take up changes to antitrust laws that could result in parts of their businesses being separated. The recommendations from Democratic staff include:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance on the coronavirus Monday, acknowledging that it can sometimes spread through airborne particles that can “linger in the air for minutes to hours” and among people who are more than six feet apart. “These transmissions occurred within enclosed spaces that had inadequate ventilation,” the CDC’s new guidance says. “Sometimes the infected person was breathing heavily, for example while singing or exercising.” This is breaking news. A team of engineers from the U.K. and Germany says a newly developed material could be a breakthrough for a wide range of industries requiring safety or protective equipment. Proteus — named for the shape-shifting aquatic deity of Greek mythology — is the first manufactured material that cannot be cut, researchers from Durham University and the Fraunhofer Institute write in the journal Scientific Reports. The lightweight substance consists of ceramic spheres surrounded by a cellular aluminum structure, which combine to render cutting tools — including angle grinders, drills, and high-pressure water jets — ineffective. Although video footage released by the team shows

A growing number of scientists are raising the possibility COVID-19 was created in a laboratory, saying the option cannot be ruled out. Leading immunologists and geneticists have told Sky News that there are two unusual things about COVID-19 that open the door to it being man-made rather than a naturally-occurring virus. The first curious characteristic of COVID-19 is that the virus binds to human ACE2 receptor cells more strongly than it does to any other animal, including bats. The second unusual thing about the virus that causes COVID-19 is that it has what’s called a “furin cleavage site” that its closest genetic bat-coronavirus relative, RaTG-13, does not have.
