Jim McIngvale, a businessman from Houston who also goes by the name “Mattress Mack,” is back in the news. .. snip ..The owner and operator of the Gallery Furniture retail chain is potentially in line for the largest payoff in legal gambling history. All he needs is for the Houston Astros to defeat either the Atlanta Braves or Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. If they do, his $2 million bet at Caesars will turn into $20 million (over $35 million in total when adding in other bets made by McIngvale). And what will “Mattress Mack” do if he wins? Well, give away mattresses to his customers, of course.

Comments:

For those of you not in Texas, Mack is HOUSTON. Self made and when the hurricane hits and you want to volunteer you head for Gallery Furniture and they will be seriously organizing help. The man is a joy to the world and FUN too.

I initially misread the title and thought it was "Mattress Back". I thought Camel-Toe Harris had placed a lucky sports bet!

Divorce usually isn’t a good idea, and that’s especially true of a nearly 250-year-old continental nation. The notion of a national breakup has long simmered as a fringe argument, but it is increasingly popular in certain precincts of the political right and has gained at least some traction with partisans of both sides. A recent survey by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia found that about 50 percent of Donald Trump voters and 40 percent of Joe Biden voters agreed to some extent with the proposition that the country should split up, with either red or blue states seceding.

Judging by its current behavior, the federal government has decided to completely give up on reality.

Range typically occupies an outsized chunk of the conversation on any new EV. But, in the case of the F-150 Lightning, which has the bestselling pickup's usual healthy scoop of towing and hauling capabilities, things get more complicated. Ford is claiming that the range figures for its electric pickup will come in at 230 miles and 300 miles, depending on whether the standard-range (which we estimate can hold 115.0 kWh) or extended-range battery pack (150.0 kWh, same caveat) is beneath the bed. Those are EPA predictions, specifically EPA combined figures, in lightly loaded conditions.

Evil is a very strong word, when used properly. Merriam-Webster defines it many ways, the most relevant to what I’m talking about being “morally reprehensible” and “arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct.” That is the modern left, the “progressive movement,” the “Democratic” Party. And to fight evil, to stop it, is the most important thing anyone can do.What justifies the use of “evil” as a descriptor? It’s a dangerous word to use, one that has been abused throughout history to demonize innocent people as well as condemn the guilty. But there is no other word for what these people are doing, both in tactic and objective.
