California Is Becoming a Warning for America

Sami Winc: Let’s turn to California, and California seems to be a petri dish of all those ideas that the Democrats have going. I’ll read a few of the things that are happening this week in California, and you can provide us with commentary. The first thing that I think is very interesting is that the federal Congress, the House, has passed a bill for the defense budget of $1.15 trillion. In it, Donald Trump has the ability to seize property in California for an oil pipeline. The property they’re looking at is down near Santa Barbara.

Kalifornia became a warning long ago for those who are awake and listening. For those pretending to sleep, it doesn't matter!

Outrageous! Think about how many earthworms that an oil pipeline will kill. That problem could kill more birds than the windmills do.

Trump, GOP Sens Lash Out at Thune for
Placing Six-Week Recess Over SAVE America Act

Several prominent Senate Republicans have joined President Donald Trump in pressuring Senate Majority Leader John Thune to cancel the Senate’s August recess to pass the SAVE America Act, the voter-integrity legislation championed by the president. The legislation aims to prevent noncitizens from voting. As of Monday morning, Sens. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., Rick Scott, R-Fla., Mike Lee, R-Utah, Jim Banks, R-Ind., John Kennedy, R-La., and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., have come out in favor of passing the legislation before recess. Banks stated that after New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced that more than 6,600 noncitizens had been accidentally registered to vote, there has been a new push among Republicans to enact the legislation.

Some sectors of Louisiana’s economy faced challenges because of the Trump administration’s tariff policy, but House Speaker Mike Johnson said he believes the overall impact has been positive because it corrected what he described as trade disparities. The administration turned to Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 for authority to impose new tariffs, according to a White House memorandum. The U.S. Supreme Court had ruled earlier this year that the president could not impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. This month, the administration announced tariffs on imports from 60 economies, the memorandum said.

One hundred days away from the midterm elections, the National Republican Senatorial Committee is launching a new ad highlighting the rise of socialism across the country. The ad, titled “Hold the Line,” will run across North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, Michigan, Georgia, and New Hampshire. These are their key Senate races that could keep Republicans in the majority. “Democrats want to export New York’s ‘commie corridor’ to a state near you, bringing crippling tax hikes, dismantled law enforcement, and bloated government spending with it,” NRSC National Press Secretary Bernadette Breslin told the Daily Signal when discussing the ad. America began to see a rise in socialism when democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani—

Acting DNI Bill Pulte on Sunday evening announced that he fired more Deep State intel officials. This is Pulte’s fourth round of firings. “Since becoming Acting Director of National Intelligence, our team has been smartly, and carefully, reducing the size of ODNI, re-focusing ODNI on national security, the law, and the statute,” Pulte said. “As of this evening, we just finished a 4th round of thoughtful, measured layoffs. Thank you!” Pulte said on X. CBS News previously reported that Pulte fired six political intelligence staffers and sent 45 others to their home agencies. CNN reported that Pulte fired six political appointees chosen by Tulsi Gabbard. “Today, I spent time with the National Counterterrorism Center team,

The ideological excesses of the American Left are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Political commentator Hasan Piker recently appeared in a Mao jacket—a conspicuous tribute to the Chinese dictator whose regime was responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people—before addressing college students. Around the same time, Melat Kiros, a Democratic Socialists of America candidate in Colorado, declared that America would stop “exploiting the world” only after the country elects enough immigrants from the Global South. That is more than a campaign slogan. It reflects an ideology that seeks to replace America’s founding principles with an entirely different worldview.

It is the oldest trick in the authoritarian playbook. Anytime a Democrat politician looks into a television camera and declares a new policy is “for the kids,” history tells us it is time to do three things: grab your Bill of Rights, lock your wallet, and check your firearms. The political left has mastered the art of semantic camouflage. Because leftists’ true intentions—total state control and the systematic dismantling of individual liberty—are entirely unpalatable to the average citizen, they must cloak their radical agendas in the warm blanket of public safety.
Fixing the Trucker Shortage Means Turning

The Trump administration is moving to fill gaps in the trucking industry by encouraging military veterans to step into roles left open after a crackdown on commercial driver's licenses issued improperly to immigrants. This approach makes practical sense. It rewards service members with skills already honed behind the wheel of heavy vehicles while addressing a workforce need through legal, qualified Americans. Under longstanding federal programs, veterans who operated military trucks weighing more than 2.5 tons in the past year and have two years of safe driving history in military heavy vehicles can skip the on-road skills test for a commercial driver's license. They still must pass the written exam.

It seems that everyone is talking about two things these days: The Odyssey (or, to be more strictly accurate, The Odyssey as reimagined by Christopher Nolan) and the Smithsonian Institution, specifically the National Museum of American History (NMAH), one of the roughly 20 museums that huddle under the taxpayer-funded umbrella of the Smithsonian. I have not seen the film version of Homer’s epic. But I feel confident in reporting that, for sheer entertainment, the televised cross-examination of NMAH’s longtime director, Anthea Hartig, easily beat out the cinematic version of The Odyssey. How can I say this, not having seen Matt Damon emoting around in his beard and shiny armor? Well,

In 2023, the New York Times ran an article entitled, “Increasingly, Women Are Running the World’s Great Museums.” Some of the museums mentioned were the Louvre, the Vatican Museum, and the National Gallery of Art. But it’s not only museums where women dominate. Other arts and cultural institutions seem to be on a permanent trajectory to hire women as CEOs. On the surface, this shouldn’t be a problem. Qualified women should certainly take their place at the top if they are the best candidates for the job. But…. There seems to be a troubling common denominator here. The vast majority of the women in these positions fit a certain mold.

Budweiser closed out its 150th-anniversary Super Bowl campaign this year with Clydesdales, a bald eagle, and the tagline “Made in America.” The ad won USA TODAY’s Ad Meter as the game’s most popular commercial and leaned hard into the same red-white-and-blue imagery Anheuser-Busch has used for its “American Careers, American Beers” push, which celebrates the roughly 65,000 U.S. jobs the company says it supports. What the ad didn’t mention is that Anheuser-Busch is a subsidiary of AB InBev, the Belgium-headquartered brewing giant, and its parent company has spent this year both closing American breweries and lobbying U.S.

Former President Barack Obama recently gave America another reminder of how his presidency—once expected to bring the country together—left us more divided on race. Obama compared America under President Donald Trump to the tumultuous period after the Civil War that gave birth to the Ku Klux Klan. He said the U.S. is “having the same arguments” we did in the 1860s and 1870s, when Union troops occupied the former Confederacy and attempted to secure real freedom for former slaves. “These issues are still here,” Obama told author Malcolm Gladwell in an interview for the podcast “Reconstruction: The Unfinished Promise.”

New Jersey Gov. Talarico has repeatedly made heretical and anti-Christian statements throughout his tenure in politics. President Trump spoke extensively about the vulnerabilities of our election system in a primetime address on July 16. The president outlined how Beijing has compromised the voter data of around 220 million Americans, paid U.S. reporters to spread anti-Trump propaganda, and cited numerous intelligence officials who kept the extent of the Chinese election meddling operation from him.
