The long strange trip is, of course, the Odyssey. The Christopher Nolan film dropped, to mixed reactions from conservative reviewers. Along with reviews, it gave rise to a number of entertaining memes. It was a rather slow week, so there were leftover memes–the World Cup, the buffalo, and so on. But the largest number of memes attacked socialism. Socialism has always been a target in meme-world, but with the Democratic Party going full commie, the memes are in overdrive. Oh, one more thing: the phrase “explosive diarrhea” entered the lexicon. So here we go: The Week In Pictures, Long Strange Trip Edition:

The socialists are feeling their oats right now.
They think they are on the rise in the face of a weak Democratic Party that seems largely okay with being eaten alive, and already has been largely taken over by radicals.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — the guy with the perpetual smirk — is one piece of evidence of this trend. He apparently thought he could dictate foreign policy and get Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested. Then when he found out he doesn't have that kind of power, he had to resort to encouraging leftists to protest.

Friday night's episode of The Five gave viewers a masterclass in what happens when a liberal co-host way out of her depth tries to lecture the panel and ends up lecturing herself into a corner. Jessica Tarlov set out to catch her conservative colleagues in a supposed contradiction on socialism. She walked out of the segment looking like a fool in the process.
Tarlov opened by accusing Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters of hypocrisy over the Trump administration's equity stakes in companies such as U.S. Steel and Intel, arguing that conservatives have been throwing around the word "socialist" for years without meaning it.

There’s a dark mood creeping into American politics that has even the most die-hard gun control politicians worried. Democrats, typically (but not always) aligned with gun control, are facing the prospect of their political party turning their gaze to complete control.
Enter the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
These candidates for political office aren’t your grandfather’s Democrats or even limousine liberals. They can’t even honestly call themselves socialists. They’re cosplaying communists who are shredding any pretense of respect or admiration for the U.S. Constitution.

When college kids showed more class than the WNBA I came across a very inspirational story yesterday. It was interesting because it provided a stark contrast to another story that’s been unfolding over the last few weeks. And the words “stark contrast” don’t adequately describe it.
The inspirational story involved a game between two women’s college softball teams that took place in 2008. This was a crucial conference game that had playoff implications. A young woman named Sara Tucholsky, playing for Western Oregon, hit her first career home run. There were two runners on base and two outs. Ms. Tucholsky was a senior,
Not so long ago, I suggested that Hunter Biden is testing the waters for a presidential run.
I was half joking, half not, as Mr. Biden has spent an inordinate amount of time out in public and on podcasts discussing politics and other matters, despite his claims that he is not running for office.

He explained to Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner how the SPR was now at a 43-year low, noting how the Biden administration had drained 180 million barrels before the 2022 midterm elections. It was clearly for political reasons to help in the elections, not for the reason you're supposed to do it - for emergencies in the market supply. Texas Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate James Talarico is trapped between two oncoming trains that are about to crash into each other. On the one hand, Talarico has been having fundraising success, mostly because he's done a great job of pretending to moderate his positions on transgenderism and aberrant Christian views, while claiming he now wants to secure the border. However, this moderation is not sitting well with his far Left progressive base.
Just last week, Talarico wrapped up a 750-mile bus tour from El Paso to the Rio Grande Valley, claiming he wanted to show up, listen and learn from the border communities.

We have all heard it many times. According to “journalists,” claims made by President Trump regarding election cheating are “unfounded,” “disproven,” and/or “debunked.” However, irrefutable evidence of large-scale 2020 election fraud exists.
On Thursday night, the president outlined four specific areas of election concern. I’d like to address one of them: corrupt Michigan voter registrations in the 2020 election. Trump said, “Even when significant evidence of fraud has been detected, it has been buried and covered up.”
The president is correct: Widespread evidence of Michigan fraud was detected before the 2020 election. After it was discovered and reviewed by the FBI, it was concealed by the Biden DOJ.
Well, Democrats in Maine really do have some special candidates to choose from. It took months but they finally got rid of Graham Platner after women came forward and accused him of abusive behavior and rape. Democrats finally decided that was a bad look and now they've had to rush to replace him with someone more agreeable. As of this weekend it seems clear that person is Troy Jackson.
Troy Jackson has effectively secured the Democratic nomination in the crucial Maine Senate race, winning the support of a majority of the state delegates who will officially nominate a candidate next weekend.

Sound like a fun diversion? It was. Read on.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill spurned the Department of Justice’s request for information on the nearly 6,600 noncitizens who were improperly added to the state’s voter rolls, raising the ire of Trump administration officials who are making election security a priority heading in the November midterms.

The shift in the poll, which had Ocasio-Cortez at 14 percent in October 2025 and 15 percent in February. In February, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was at 15 percent and former Vice President Kamala Harris was at 10 percent. In July, Newsom was down to 8 percent and Harris was down to 5 percent. Their loss was Ocasio-Cortez’ gain.

The diocese has been seeing declining attendance at the services, as well as a shortage of priests. Last fall, Bishop Andrew Cozzens began meeting with parishes to come up with a long-term plan for the diocese.
