Nick Shirley, the young man who has been putting “professional” journalists to shame with his on-site reporting on rampant Medicaid fraud, released another video exposing schemes in New York, these involving senior centers for elderly Koreans and Chinese. One that he visited, an adult day care in Flushing, claims to have nearly 8,000 members, for which it bills Medicaid $1,600 each. But even an employee admits that the number is wildly inflated. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz joined Shirley. [snip] But not all government fraud is illegal. In fact, we’d say that legal fraud is an even bigger scam than what Shirley is uncovering.

About 5 years ago we were sent a wheelchair - that we really didn't need or want. We pushed back but were told again and again that we wouldn't have to pay anything. And sure enough we didn't. Except in the ever rising medicare premiums. The medical equipment company billed medicare over $3k. The same exact chair on Amazon was $157. The bill described the chair in ridiculous engineering terms making it sound like it was for a moon mission. It was just a run of the mill common wheel chair. The only reason they used such complex terminology for this simple item was to snow the medicare agent that reviewed the claim into thinking this was some kind of super high technology wheel chair. In my opinion this was fraud. It is huge and common place in the medical equipment arena.

That tiny piece of sidwalk probably used 1/4 of a yard of concrete, which....even in Crazyfornia can't cost more than $200 a yard. So, $50 of concrete put down where nobody CAN walk because there is a phone pole in the way....for $1 million federal money. The feds need to get San Bernadino to recompense them for that.

It has become the role of us all to call out whatever insanity we encounter, especially at a local level.

When Joe Biden announced that he had written a memoir of his four years as president, the reaction on the blogosphere was mockery. Even his most ardent defenders now admit that the guy was barely functional as president, that he was kept under lock and key by White House staff for most of four years, and that the mainstream press was in on the cover-up. [snip] Well, thanks to our contacts in the publishing world and the Dementia Society of America, we were able to obtain an exclusive copy of the original manuscript of “Promise Me, America” that Biden submitted

Might the reader be wondering whether the across-the-board Trump Deranged Syndrome-tinged legacy media response to The Donald’s Thursday night primetime address on election integrity reflected a predetermined and even pre-researched-and-written narrative? [snip] The legacy media clearly came loaded for bear – ready to shoot down just about each and every point the president raised on his main issue. Except one – regarding which the collective commentariat, based on your correspondent’s own rapid review, appeared to suffering from “a deplorable lack of curiosity,” as the fictionalized version of Captain Von Trapp phrased it in a film classic.

The fast-food drive-thru was not born in California. But the idea was perfected by California cultural icon In-N-Out, which is fitting because the double-double chain has become the main villain in Culver City’s effort to ban drive-thrus. Red’s Giant Hamburg on Route 66 in Springfield, Mo., was likely the first drive-thru restaurant in the country, says the American Automobile Association, serving customers as early as 1947. But In-N-Out created a year later “the drive-thru as we know it today, complete with an intercom ordering system,” at its Baldwin Park restaurant, which had “only enough room for the cooks.”
The 5 Dumbest Arguments Against The Sunshine

Four years ago, the Senate voted unanimously to ditch the switch and stick with daylight saving time year-round. Nineteen states have passed laws that would make DST permanent, if the federal government would let them. And this week, the House approved the Sunshine Protection Act by a 3-to-1 margin. But don’t count on it becoming law. As Politico reports, it “faces an uphill battle in the Senate despite strong lobbying from the White House and personal engagement from President Donald Trump.” The problem is that enough Senators are likely to be swayed by critics to block it, even though the arguments against the bill are entirely specious.

With the sudden popularity of openly socialist candidates in recent local elections, is the U.S. turning into a socialist state? As the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows, Americans mostly believe the country is indeed moving toward socialism, but don’t want to foot the bill for the big jump in taxpayer spending to pay for it. The national online I&I/TIPP Poll was taken from June 29 through July 2, and kicked off by asking 1,473 voters whether they agreed or disagreed with the following question: “The U.S. is evolving into a big government socialist state.” Overall, 48% agreed the U.S. was “evolving” toward socialism either “somewhat” (31%)

Finding out that, by a 3-to-2 margin, Americans think the country is “evolving into a big government socialist state” is bad enough. Far more worrisome is finding out how many Republicans and self-styled conservatives are on board with one of socialism’s central tenets. The latest IBD/TIPP Poll, which we are reporting on today, finds that nearly half of Americans agree that we’re sliding into socialism, and less than a third disagree. (See: “By 3-To-2 Margin, Americans Believe U.S. Is Turning Into A ‘Socialist State’: I&I/TIPP Poll.”) It also finds that Republicans are more pessimistic about the future than Democrats,

For all the endless talk about “draconian” cuts, federal spending is running $172 billion ahead of last year, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released Monday. And that includes a substantial increase in fraud-riddled Medicaid spending. And spending continues to outpace increases in revenues, which means the deficit this year is now on track to top $2 trillion. The last time that happened was in the middle of the COVID-19 spending splurge. To be sure, it’s not all bad news.

If they really wanted to make it big time, they should have targeted federal entitlement programs instead of gamblers and drug addicts. Not only does it pay better, but you can count on one political party to look the other way. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) figures that fraudsters make off with more than $500 billion of federal taxpayer money a year, plus another $184 billion in “improper payments.” That isn’t just bigger than U.S. Steel. For over 20 years, Americans have enjoyed the liberty to keep their phone number when they switch wireless providers. But there’s still a catch: consumers can port their number, but not the phone itself. This is due to “mobile locking,” a software restriction carriers place on devices purchased through an equipment installment plan. The phone works perfectly fine, but it can’t be taken to another provider unless under certain stipulations that vary from provider to provider. In theory, the consumer owns the device. In practice, the carrier still sits in the driver’s seat. Consumers can

President Donald Trump’s favorability ratings have suffered this year as higher oil prices and a persistent armed conflict with Iran have upset many voters. But with energy prices down in recent weeks, and ongoing talks with Iran, Trump may be turning a corner in public opinion, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests. The national online I&I/TIPP Poll each month asks voters to grade the president’s performance. Voters are asked four questions, starting with: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable, generally unfavorable, or are you not familiar enough to to say one way or the other?”

On Sunday, a new report came out that, among Saturday night's targets in Iran hit by American attacks, there was a strike against a nuclear facility under construction, that being what is called the Darkhovin facility. The Iranian government is said to be "furious." Good. This is a military target, no matter what Iran has to say about it. This is precisely the kind of target American forces should be razing to the ground. Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, in its outrage, is again dissembling; nothing this regime does is peaceful or has an entirely peaceful purpose.
