President Donald Trump ushered in the 250th anniversary of American independence on Friday with soaring rhetoric about American exceptionalism before veering into a darkly political speech with warnings about a sinister threat of communism that evoked one of the country's ugliest chapters.
"Communism is a mortal threat to American liberty," he said from Mount Rushmore. "It is the greatest threat to our country, including World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor or even 9/11."//snip//Indeed, Trump's language evoked the Red Scare of the 1950s, when alleged communists

LOS ANGELES — The husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was involved in a hit-and-run in California that left a car with “major” damage authorities said Saturday, and he could face misdemeanor charges. Paul Pelosi was driving his brown convertible Friday in Yountville, a town in the heart of Wine Country, when he struck a legally parked car on the side of the road, briefly stopped and then drove away, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. No injuries were reported. A witness saw the collision and called 911. Shortly afterward sheriff’s deputies found Pelosi with damage

I’m sure you don’t, but I’ll give you one anyway.
Michelle Obama has spent years selling herself as America's warm, approachable former first lady. Remember the whole “when they go low, we go high” thing? We knew then it was just an empty slogan, because whenever she had a chance to prove she’s the bigger person, she just proved the opposite.
According to a Daily Mail report, Barack Obama’s wife personally torpedoed Cheryl Hines' return to the small screen when Larry David's new HBO series, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America, began casting. The show premiered last week. Higher Ground, the production company

Speaking at Mount Rushmore on Friday to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation, President Donald Trump sounded the alarm: “As we approach this magnificent anniversary, we see our American identity under a renewed attack.” He observed that “a generation after we fought and won the Cold War against the menace of communism, there is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land, including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life and our great success.”
There was no doubt whatsoever that what he was saying was true, and that thirty-five years after the end of the Cold War,

An Air Force major was arrested on the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday after calling for President Trump’s and Vice President Vance’s impeachments.
Peaceful demonstrations are permitted on Capitol grounds, but a protester must remain alongside a member of Congress to speak openly from the steps.
Originally, Air Force Maj. Jason Watson was accompanied by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who later left.
Upon the lawmaker’s exit, Watson was directed to come off the steps or face arrest, U.S. Capitol Police told The Hill. Watson was then arrested for crowding, obstructing and incommoding, the authorities noted in a statement.

Michael Bon, a 33-year-old truck driver who caused an accident that killed Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr. on Wednesday has been confirmed to be an illegal alien who entered the United States under the Biden administration, according to a report from Fox News’ Bill Melugin. [Tweets]
Trooper Pahira Jr. was inspecting an unrelated semi-truck early on Wednesday morning when Bon veered off of the road and onto the shoulder, striking a vehicle and causing a deadly chain reaction that eventually led to the death of Pahira Jr.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's speech for our nation's 250th birthday has gotten a lot of well-deserved criticism.
It was pretty awful on the whole. But there was one particular part on Friday that got a lot of attention, in which he lambasted America, attacked Elon Musk, and demonized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The swipe against Musk was particularly nasty, saying children go hungry while the world's first trillionaire (Musk) "hungers for more."
In that you can see the evil of the radical left - to demonize the people who are actually achieving and whipping up envy and class warfare.
But Elon Musk responded,

New York's communist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has regularly revealed himself to be a real piece of... work. He's abysmally ill-informed, and he appears to harbor a lot of hate for a country that took him in, making it something of a mystery as to why he left his wealthy family's expansive Uganda compound. Unless, of course, you assume that gaining control of one of America's largest cities was the goal all along.
Now, on Friday, the day before we celebrated 250 years of American liberty, Mayor Mamdani took the opportunity to trash America, and to add insult to injury, we see that the commie mayor did so from behind a desk

In another case of federal bureaucrats challenging elected leaders, seven employees of the Environmental Protection Agency who signed onto a public letter opposing President Donald Trump were eventually ousted. Now they’re suing to get their jobs back.
The terminated employees are suing with the backing of the litigation group Democracy Forward. Democrat lawyer Marc Elias is chairman of the board for Democracy Forward, which has filed numerous lawsuits advocating for the federal bureaucracy against elected leaders. Elias is best known for election litigation for Democrats, and for his role in pushing the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy theory.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche didn't dress up the message in diplomatic lace. In a June 29 letter to Judge Tomoko Akane, president of the International Criminal Court, Blanche told The Hague what President Donald Trump's administration had already made clear: Americans answer to American courts. [Tweet]
A foreign tribunal the United States never joined doesn't get a roving claim over its liberty. The legal language was polished, but the meaning was blunt enough.
The Hague can go pound sand!
The DOJ said the United States isn't a party to the Rome Statute, never consented to ICC authority, and will not accept ICC jurisdiction over U.S. people anywhere in the world.

Rep. Marianette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, is turning Hillary Clinton's most infamous phrase against her, sharply criticizing the former First Lady's suggestion that spy agency workers resist Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte and keep intelligence from him.
“I’m going to use Hillary Clinton's own words: deplorable," Miller/Meeks told the Just the News, No Noise TV show on Thursday. "That is disgusting behavior from a former secretary of state, from a former first lady, from a former senator."
