Netanyahu Now Suing NYT Over IDF
Blood Libel

We recently saw the New York Times print an article by columnist Nicholas Kristof, in which he made claims about the behavior of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and accusations of mistreatment of prisoners, leading some to describe his words as blood libel. That event may now lead to legal action against Mr. Kristof and the New York Times. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his legal advisers to look into what legal actions that Israel can take against the New York Times. Since PM Netanyahu made the announcement on his official X account, it appears that he intends to take action on behalf

I would consider printing Blood Liable was malicious intent. It sounds like Hamas propaganda falsely accusing Israel of doing to Hamas prisoners what they actually did to Israelis they held prisoner.

Maybe a bridge too far for the NYT to print something like this. The Times may not have to pay a big judgement but the discovery phase will at least bring out some well deserved exposure. After this, I can't see reasonable Jews continuing to support and subscribe to an anti-Semitic newspaper.

Kristof will probably win a Pulitzer Prize for this "hard hitting journalism". The correct category should be Creative Writing. This sounds more like a Hamas propaganda piece mixed with some Islamic porn fantasy than actual news.

Glad to see this. Anyone and everyone slandered by the Times should take them to court. After a few billion dollars in losses, they may start practicing journalism again. Or they will fold. Either option works for me.

The redistricting battle being fought across the nation has caused a sea change, and now, it's having a notable effect in Tennessee. We saw Democratic lawmakers melting down a week ago over the changes, with state Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) getting into a disturbing exchange with a state trooper. The redistricting redrew a black majority district, the 9th district, which is currently represented by Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen (TN-09). Cohen is not black. He's held the seat for 19 years, since 2007. He's had black Republicans run against him. (X) Now it looks like Cohen is giving up the ghost. He announced that he wouldn't be running again. Cohen said

Desperate to deflect attention from Minnesota’s fraud scandals, the state’s Democrats have seized on gun control as a political lifeline, much as they did with abortion in 2022. Despite having passed an anti-gun package when they had complete control over state government in 2023, the Democrats have come up with a new bill that, among other things, would ban sales of “assault weapons,” i.e., semiautomatic rifles (and some pistols) with a modern, modular design typified by a black plastic stock rather than a brown wooden stock. Existing owners of “assault weapons,” like me, would have to register their firearms with the state. Governor Walz mused about calling a special session

Senate Democrats spent Wednesday on the Senate floor demanding votes they knew they would lose, on rules that in some cases courts had already thrown out, in defense of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), an agency that by the government's own math has cost Americans hundreds of billions of dollars. Republicans obliged them and won every single one. Democrats used a procedural tool called the Congressional Review Act to force more than a dozen resolutions targeting Trump's rollback of the CFPB, covering everything from overdraft fees and medical debt to military lending protections. The real goal wasn't legislation —

A Canadian doctor has suggested that babies with severe deformities could be euthanized under the country's controversial assisted suicide laws. Quebec College of Physicians member Louis Roy has been condemned by a lobbying group after a comment he made during a 2022 parliamentary committee resurfaced. Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) missed the last 43 House votes and hasn't been seen for a month — that's maybe not the most disturbing part of the story. The eight-term incumbent is probably best known for her collection of hats — usually sparkly ones — is 83 years old, and so it's natural to fear the worst. Wilson's last recorded House vote was on April 17, and House reporter Jaime Dupree noted on BlueSky Wednesday that she "missed all 10 votes on Wednesday in the House," bringing the total to 43 consecutive missed votes over the last four weeks. When a federal judge shot down a Trump administration policy of holding immigrants without bond last December, it seemed like a serious blow to the US president’s mass deportation effort,” The Guardian told us about a week ago. “Instead, a top justice department official insisted the ruling wasn’t binding, and the administration continued denying detainees around the country a chance for release.” That case, The Guardian claims, illustrates a “broader pattern by the US government’s executive branch,” which is now openly defying orders from the lower courts. The Trump administration, it seems, is learning. Instead of pretending things are a-okay

Those of us who support the rights of Americans to keep and bear arms, as confirmed in the Second Amendment, are used to seeing some pretty dumb takes from the other side. One of the dumbest in recent history, the 1994 "assault weapons" ban, even put bayonet lugs on the list of proscribed features, because, presumably, of all the massed bayonet attacks carried out by criminal gangs. But now and then, something comes along that sets a new low for even the dumbest of dumb takes; this time, it's a video from the Associated Press, clutching pearls about how black-powder guns, like those used in the Revolutionary War,

Another member of Congress has been missing a slew of votes without much explanation. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL), 83, has not voted in the House of Representatives since April 17, congressional reporter Jamie Dupree of the Regular Order newsletter noted on Wednesday night. Posting on Bluesky, he pointed out that Wilson had missed all 10 House votes on Wednesday and has now missed 43 consecutive votes. Included in Dupree’s post were images posted on Wilson’s X account on Tuesday, but he noted something was amiss. “Wilson’s X account this week sent out photos of a Service Academy day – but pictures from the same event were posted last October,” Dupree wrote. Babies are proverbially easy to steal from, and California is going to swipe the very diapers off their bottoms. Of course, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has promised the opposite, announcing a program to provide “free” diapers to newborns. This is meant to appear as a generous and pro-baby plan, and Newsom was even applauded by some pro-life and pro-family writers and activists. But this is California, notorious for fraud and boondoggles ranging from fake hospices to the high-speed rail train to nowhere. So, in evaluating this program, it is pointless to try to parse the projected cost-per-diaper because California cannot accurately estimate such costs.

Unsurprisingly, Democrats are willing to eliminate black-majority congressional districts through redistricting in order to gain more political power, a new poll finds. Democrat politicians and pundits have long claimed that any proposed shift away from race-based gerrymandering is racist, repeatedly weaponizing the issue to smear Republicans. The Politico poll, conducted in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Voting Rights Act, shows “a lot of Democrats are willing to sacrifice Black voting power to beat the GOP.” At face value, respondents — who were Kamala Harris voters — said discriminatory gerrymandering —

Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis commuted the sentence of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters on Friday, shortening her nearly nine-year prison sentence related to the 2020 election. Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2024 but an appeals court ruled last month that she needs to be resentenced after part of the sentence punished Peters for her protected speech regarding fraud claims in the 2020 election. Polis denied that the commutation was an attempt to appease President Donald Trump, instead highlighting that Peters was a first-time nonviolent offender who was given an "unusually harsh sentence."

Federal employees are suing the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Secretary Brooke Rollins, accusing the Trump official of "Christian proselytizing" after she sent department emails on Christmas and Easter with religious messages. The complaint, brought by the National Federation of Federal Employees and seven USDA employees, accuses Rollins of "sending increasingly proselytizing communications to the entire USDA workforce, promoting her own preferred brand of Christian beliefs and theology to the captive audience of employees that report to her," since becoming head of the government agency in February 2025. In the complaint, the plaintiffs say Rollins sent emails to all USDA employees on national and religious holidays, most overtly on Easter

Jewish labor groups lined up behind Franklin D. Roosevelt for the New Deal, and marched in every civil rights movement since.
