CBS committed a crucial triple-bogey-like error. There is nothing like watching Rory McIlroy win a back-to-back Masters for golf fans — that is, if you can actually see the winning shots. The broadcast failed to show McIlroy’s final four shots of the tournament as he claimed the first repeat green jacket since Tiger Woods in 2002. And CBS went on to hear it from golf fans. “CBS not being able to show the location of the final two approach shots of the masters is the cherry on top of an all-time horrible broadcast,” an X user posted.
“Very on brand for golf broadcasting that the cameraman lined up

CBS bragged that their 70 year association with the Masters was the longest ever. So? There's no way on planet earth the Tiffany Network would allow this jewel, the highest rated golfing event of all, to escape to NBC or ABC. But if it's so important to them, television coverage must not miss any of the leaders, especially on the back nine Sunday. I was astonished that we barely saw the champion finish. If he had missed that last putt, there would have been a playoff. Too many side stories. Let's concentrate on the tournament, not the spectators.
I watched both the television broadcast and the Masters.com coverage of various holes and various groups. During this year's commercial breaks we were inundated with repeated reruns of junior golfers hitting fantasy versions of, say, Bubba Watson's playoff duck hook sand wedge from the woods right of #10 fairway, replete with some of the real narration. Or of Nicklaus's putt on #17 in 1986 ("Yes, sir!") ... that was ruined, too.
All of us dedicated junior golfers had dreams which were sometimes acted out on the course. That's normal. But I was irritated and distracted by the extraneous bovine scatology which shouldn't have run over and over. In years past, Masters' three or four sponsors kept their commercials down to four minutes per hour. Fifty-six minutes of action each hour. That's long gone now. Greedy, greedy CBS.
The Masters is the greatest golf tournament in the world, always worth watching, the greatest of the four major championships because it's always played on that dramatic stage created by Bobby Jones. Augusta National Golf Club never disappoints. It's my favorite place to have ever played, or visited as a spectator. There's nothing else like it.

I just turned it off before they anointed Mcllroy. I didn't even watch the last four holes. The constant cheering section for Rory for four days from the broadcasters was just over the top. It just became almost unwatchable after listening to it for four days. Add in the almost unplayable greens which are an Augusta golf club tradition and watching six-foot putts roll past the hole by six feet and balls rolling off the green when the player hits it on and I just switched to baseball. Even the number one player in the world decided it was safer to have a 35-foot putt for birdie rather than trying to get it closer to the pin.

Is Rory turning into Tiger with the head games?
Early on, Cam Young, who mostly drove great, left one right. Rory moves in behind and conspicuously signals the shot is right. Did he yell "fore" first, I don't know, but it's like he's tweaking Young for all to see.
Yound had a twenty footer (?) on twelve, he's behind the ball eyeing the line. McIlroy walks between him and the hole, on Cam's line and Rory is like oops. What? WHAT?!
Just smart golf, huh, ***nudge nudge wink win***

I absolutely cannot stand Rory. I have no clue why he is so popular as a person.

To see Augusta in bloom is on my bucket list.
For this year, I so wanted Justin Rose to win. And the Irish pub shots were tiring.

I don't even follow the PGA but like some others here, am totally Rory'd out.

Not a 'pasture pool' fan, so missed all of it. I had some paint I needed to watch dry, but to each, his own.

#4. I volunteered in the practice area a few years ago (pre Covid). We were told to not talk to the golfers unless they talked to us first. Rory talked to all of us and thanked us for volunteering. He was sincere and friendly.

With Frank Chirkinian in charge, golf tournament productions on CBS television were peerless.

I watched the whole thing cheering for Scottie to get the win. He came so close.

Re #8, the manner in which he treats his family says more to me about him than how he treats his ‘fans’.

Fragile Rory didn't win. a half dozen world class golfers somepw all chose to lose.
And instead of showing converge in a critical final hou8r of the tournament, CBS shshowed a 'feelings' interview with Rory.
But at least he didn't serve divorce papers on his wife and new born baby this time. He h8ust ignored them.
