WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump said Thursday that he does not intend to put ground troops in Iran, undercutting an anonymous report claiming his administration is considering putting thousands of troops in the Middle East. Trump dispelled the notion that he is considering adding troops to the Middle East during a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae in the Oval Office. “Do you intend to lift sanctions on Iranian oil, and do you intend to potentially put U.S. troops or more troops in the region?” a reporter asked. “No, I’m not putting troops anywhere. If I were, I certainly wouldn’t tell you,

In war, is Trump required to speak truth to our enemies? Didn't think so.

Not Just MAGA: Politico Poll Shows Americans

For the past three weeks, the Protection Racket Media has had a field day speculating that the war with Iran would split the MAGA base and infuriate those who demand America First policies. Poll after poll has contradicted that speculation. It turns out that the better question might be whether the war is splitting Donald Trump's opposition. Politico published a new poll this morning, taken this week, even while Iran forced a strangulation of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The poll shows sharp support for the war among Republicans, and even more robust support among self-identified MAGA voters, as previous surveys from NBC News and CNN

Iran launched an attack on the Diego Garcia, US-UK joint military base in the Indian Ocean, but did not hit it, as per a report from The Wall Street Journal. As per WSJ's Friday report, one of the missiles failed in flight when a US warship fired an SM-3 interceptor at the other, though it was not determined if the interceptor had succeeded. The report did not specify when Iran fired the missiles. However, it is the distance of the Diego Garcia base from Iran that has sparked discussions about the striking capabilities of Iranian missiles. “4,118 km from Iran to Diego Garcia. Far beyond any previously known Iranian ballistic missile

There were some great moments between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and President Donald Trump during their meetings and dinner on Thursday. They worked on the question of resolving any issues in the Strait of Hormuz. Japan signed onto the allies' coalition statement issued earlier in the day. The relationship is certainly blooming well. Takaichi confirmed that with a gift of 250 more cherry trees to the U.S. for our 250th birthday. The cherry trees from Japan in D.C. are famous and beautiful. Takaichi praised their bond, saying how they were "best buddies" to make both countries strong and prosperous.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday that the unfolding U.S. operation against Iran remains “laser-focused” and decisive in achieving its objectives, pushing back on comparisons to past prolonged conflicts while outlining a campaign he said is systematically degrading Tehran’s military capabilities. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing on day 20 of Operation Epic Fury, Hegseth opened by directly challenging portrayals that the operation risks becoming a drawn-out war akin to Iraq or Afghanistan, arguing the mission is tightly defined and purpose-driven. “The media here — not all of it, but much of it — wants you to think, just 19 days

A coalition of 40 Democratic states, cities and counties sued the Trump administration on Thursday, challenging the recent termination of a longstanding policy allowing the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate climate pollution. The lawsuit, and others like it, will kick off a years-long court saga that could wind up at the Supreme Court and determine the fate of Trump’s plan to undo decades of climate policy. First issued in 2009 during the Obama administration, the endangerment finding is considered the federal government’s most powerful tool to tackle climate pollution. The finding determined that six greenhouse gases could be categorized as dangerous to human health

A US F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at a US air base in the Middle East after being struck by what is believed to be Iranian fire, CNN reported on Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter. Iranian media claimed the IRGC was behind the hit shortly after. According to Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for US Central Command, the F-35 was "flying a combat mission over Iran" when it was struck and was forced to make an emergency landing. "The aircraft landed safely, and the pilot is in stable condition," CNN quoted Hawkins as saying. "The incident is under investigation," Hawkins added.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee voted Thursday to advance Senator Markwayne Mullin’s nomination to serve as the next Homeland Security secretary, with Democratic Senator John Fetterman crossing party lines to give Mullin the deciding vote. Mullin was able to overcome staunch opposition from committee Chair Rand Paul (R., Ky.), who questioned the Oklahoma Republican’s fitness for the role, describing him as “a man with anger issues.” Now that Mullin’s nomination has successfully advanced out of committee, he is expected to be confirmed by the full Senate despite opposition from Democrats who have raised questions about an overseas trip Mullin says he took to a combat zone several years ago.

California lawmakers said Thursday they planned to change the name of “César Chavez Day” to “Farmworkers Day” after sexual abuse allegations against the late civil rights leader arose earlier this week. The New York Times reported Wednesday that Chavez had groomed and sexually abused young girls within the labor rights movement while he served as leader of the United Farm Workers Union. One of those women was Dolores Huerta, who co-founded the union with Chavez in 1962. Huerta came forward this week with allegations that she was victimized by Chavez in her 30s.

Here's something I doubt many people had on their bingo card. A new poll released today shows two Republicans leading the California race for governor. Despite a long, entrenched Democratic reign over California politics, a new poll shows two Republicans leading by slim margins in the state’s 2026 race for governor as the June primary election fast approaches. The confounding results appear to be mostly due to the state’s left-leaning electorate feeling uninspired by any single candidate in the crowded field of eight top Democrats. Because of California’s top-two primary rule, that lethargy could lead to Democrats being shut out

Has the progressive Left finally hit its high-water mark? Even in deep-blue Illinois? Yesterday, the state that launched Barack Obama's presidency and created Chicago's socialist decline went to the primary polls to nominate midterm candidates. As usual, progressives competed heavily for House and Senate seats, as well as in state legislative races. Most unusually, Axios reports, hard-Left candidates appear to have lost every competitive race in which they contended, running campaigns that featured attacks on Israel as well as Hakeem Jeffries: The left suffered a virtually total collapse in the Illinois Democratic congressional primaries on Tuesday night — even in races where the AIPAC-backed candidate lost.

In 2018, then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was eating at the Red Hen in Lexington when the owners asked her to leave because of her politics. It was a huge controversy (and not to be confused with the September incident when President Trump and those who were with him were harassed by protesters at the D.C. eatery with the same name). That Red Hen location closed permanently in 2023. Now, an Arkansas eatery has started the clock on its own closure after asking Governor Huckabee Sanders to leave their establishment, again over her politics. Three weeks into a military engagement in Iran, a war Republicans will not call a war, the American and Israeli militaries have all but wiped out Iran's capacity to make war. We have killed their leadership, the replacement leaders, and militia members on the ground. We have destroyed their missile launchers and the factories in which they made the missiles. But Iran still has one of the most powerful weapons in the world on its side, and it is ruthlessly deploying it – the American press corps. "Families mourn as dead are laid to rest in Tehran," blared the front page, above the fold headline in the Athens Banner-Herald

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese learned a valuable lesson about pandering to Islamists during a recent visit to a mosque in Sydney, with what was supposed to be a box-checking affair quickly getting out of hand. Following Albanese's denunciations of the Iranian regime, the left-winger must have felt the need to make amends. To do so, he showed up at a mosque to sit on the floor in his socks and parrot Muslim prayers. The Islamists in the crowd weren't as eager to accept his olive branch, though. Multiple videos showed the moment chaos erupted. At least one person tried to rush the prime minister, with the assumed

The nerve of a judge to deport an illegal immigrant who held the lofty status of a staff member for the New York City Council has left New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in high dudgeon. Rafael Andres Rubio Bohorquez, a data analyst for the council, will be deported to Venezuela. The Department of Homeland Security said Rubio overstayed his 2017 tourist visa, has an arrest for assault, and does not possess work authorization, CBS News noted. Mamdani argued his version of reality should take precedence over the law. “Today, an administrative immigration judge ordered the deportation of Rafael Rubio, a City Council employee. In politics, it is often the people who you think have your back who end up stabbing you there. Nobody knows that better than Donald Trump, who has been stabbed in the back more times than Julius Caesar — yet has still survived. This week, part of the noisy right-wing online podcast-sphere again turned on the president. Leading the virtual charge, again, was Trump’s one-time cheerleader, Tucker Carlson. There was a time when Carlson was fully Team Trump. Carlson often appeared at Trump rallies as part of the warmup act. But in the past year, he has tried to lead the MAGA base away from Trump and down a very dark path.

The mail may soon stop — and not because it’s lost in transit. The cash-strapped United States Postal Service is barreling toward a financial cliff, with Postmaster General David Steiner warning lawmakers the agency could run dry by October — and potentially halt mail delivery altogether by 2027 if Congress doesn’t step in. “At our current rate, we’ll be out of cash in less than 12 months,” Steiner told the House Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations on March 17. “So in about a year from now, the Postal Service would be unable to deliver the mail.” Translation: no stamps, no service. The grim forecast comes as the USPS continues its long-running losing streak.
