California's Taxpayer Compact Is Being
Looted From Both Ends

Original Article

There is a particular kind of irrationality that only single-party government can sustain with a straight face. Governor Gavin Newsom demonstrated it again on February 20, 2026 when his administration announced $35 million in new "humanitarian funding" to connect illegal immigrants facing federal deportation proceedings with attorneys, food assistance, and legal navigation services. (snip) While Sacramento was building its immigration defense infrastructure (snip) it reclassified theft of property valued below $950 from a felony to a misdemeanor (snip.) The two policies (snip) share a common architectural logic: the systematic transfer of risk and cost from those who violate the law onto those who follow it.

Comments:

The new $35 million appropriation brings the total California will spend to defend immigration criminals this fiscal year to $160 million. When one considers that illegal immigrant patients are primarily responsible for California's multi-billion dollar Medicaid deficit, California is literally spending millions of dollars to continue losing billions of dollars.

California is soooo much worse than you can possibly understand if you ne er lived there. You can read every article and still not get it. These articles are only the tip of the iceberg. When I fled to a Free State a few years ago, my daily stress levels dropped to near zero, I got a house twice the size and much nicer for less than half what I sold my California house for. It took me 2 years to get over my California ptsd about everything horrific I survived for decades in that pit of evil and stupidity. When I told everyone I knew I was moving, literally every single person told me they were also planning to leave soon (several have since then) or they would but they have family they can't leave but will go later. "I'm so jealous!" was a phrase I heard many times. The place is dead. It's just a matter of time until we see what happens when an entire state goes bankrupt. This is unexplored Constitutional ground. I lol forward to seeing it... from another state.

The Trump Administration is suing California over a de facto fuel economy rule that it believes the state is using to enact a pseudo electric vehicle mandate, the California Post has learned. The Department of Justice filed the lawsuit Tuesday on behalf of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), arguing that the Golden State is violating federal law by forcing state-specific mileage requirements on car manufacturers through the state's Advanced Clean Cars proposal. (snip) In response to Trump nixing California's emission regulations, Newsom signed an executive order doubling down -- ordering the California Air Resources Board to develop and propose Advanced Clean Cars III (snip.)

California Governor Gavin Newsom is destroying the state's oil and gas industry, and it appears to be deliberate. Newsom is presiding over the largest collapse of the oil industry, refinery operations and gasoline production in U.S. history. A conservative watchdog group is pushing federal regulators to investigate the tax-exempt status of a major nonprofit that has been allegedly bankrolling violent protests for years. The Center to Advance Security In America (CASA) is requesting the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigate the Progress Unity Fund (PUF), a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit based in California (snip.) CASA argues that PUF is violating its ta-exempt status due to its financial support of the ANSWER Coalition, a group behind several high-profile violent protests and allegedly tied to extremist elements. (snip) ANSWER activists have assaulted law enforcement, destroyed federal property, and even had ties to pro-Hamas groups.

During last week's contentious hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, Delaware Sen. Chris Coons asked then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, with great concern, "Will you rule out the deployment of ICE or CBP officers to polling places this November?" The Secretary's answer was sharp and to the point: "Do you plan on illegals voting in our elections?" Democrats are saying the quiet part out loud. The people who have told us for years that illegal aliens never vote, and that voter fraud doesn't exist, are terrified of anyone actually checking to see if that is true.

The first six days of war in Iran cost U.S. taxpayers at least $11.3 billion in munitions alone, according to Pentagon estimates reviewed by lawmakers, and experts say the final cost will only increase. That total does not include the cost of operating and maintaining the military force engaged in the war or battle damage sustained from Iran’s attacks. The military used about $5.6 billion in munitions in the first two days of the conflict, according to a person with knowledge of the estimate. The munitions cost was first reported by The Washington Post. The money spent on munitions, and the added expense of any damage done to U.S. military infrastructure

For years, the British £5 note has carried the face of Winston Churchill. The wartime prime minister who rallied Britain during its darkest hour has stared out from wallets and cash registers across the country, a constant reminder of the man who helped lead Britain through World War II. Now the Bank of England is considering scrapping that tradition. And what might replace one of Britain’s most consequential leaders says quite a lot about where parts of the country’s cultural establishment think Britain should be headed. Animals. Plants. Landscapes. Not the people who shaped the nation’s history. Wildlife. The idea surfaced after the Bank of England asked the public what themes they

Occasionally I hear credentialed professionals with prestigious titles whine about the so-called “war on expertise.” It really bothers people who see themselves as “experts” that a growing share of society ignores them. A psychologist might intuit something revealing from the lack of self-confidence plaguing our “expert” class. If all the fancy degrees, voluminous curricula vitae, and lofty career positions have failed to instill a resilient modicum of self-esteem, then perhaps all those things are not the true measures of a person’s worth. “Experts” do not like to be challenged.
