Sony’s mistake, according to Obama

Michael Lynton was the CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment when it greenlit Seth Rogen’s film The Interview. You’ve most likely never seen it because it displeased the Supreme (Communist) Leader of North Korea and led to North Korea’s hack of the company’s emails, confidential scripts, and his family’s personal information. Sony limited distribution of the film in order to mitigate the damage. The Wall Street Journal published an excerpt of Lynton’s memoir in its February 21 Review section. In the excerpt Lynton blames the malformation of his character for what he deems a monumental corporate mistake. I was disgusted to read President Obama’s concurrence in Lynton’s assessment:

Weak, fekless, self-absorbed, self-reverenrtial Obie messed up greater rhings than Lynton eer dreamedof. He darned near destroyed the greatest nation in the world and he still won't go away.

Sony and America's Hollywood president are deflecting. They're pointing fingers everywhere but Sony itself. The North Koreans got into Sony through a simple phishing email. Apparently there was no corporate system for the mitigation of phishing emails. And Sony, a major corporation, was apparently never worried about being potentially subject to a hostile court ordered discovery process.

Another Joe Biden FBI Scandal 7 replies

The extent to which the Department of Justice under Merrick Garland was weaponized to serve the Democratic Party is a scandal that is still unraveling. The FBI was particularly turned to partisan ends, a scandal for which there has yet been no accounting. It has most recently come to light that in 2023, the FBI tapped the phones secretly subpoenaed phone records of both Kash Patel–now, ironically, the Director of the FBI–and Susie Wiles, now the President’s Chief of Staff. This was all, I take it, part of the Democratic Party’s well-organized effort to prevent Donald Trump from being re-elected President in 2024. That the FBI wiretapped Patel and Wiles is disgraceful,

One of President Trump's key priorities for his second term was rebuilding and re-arming our military, including making sure we have the best, most modern aircraft in the world. That may well be happening now, and in record time. The United States Air Force's first 6th-generation fighter, the F-47, is reportedly on track for a 2028 test flight. That's remarkably fast for a concept-to-cockpit development these days. The advanced F-47 sixth-generation fighter remains on track to fly in the next two years, the senior Air Force acquisition officer overseeing the program said Feb. 25, as the service continues on its ambitious schedule to debut the air superiority-focused fighter by 2028

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5) is demanding a full investigation after Capitol Police arrested her guest during President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night — and the woman they hauled out might look awfully familiar to RedState readers. The congresswoman invited 43-year-old Minneapolis activist Aliya Rahman — the same far-left agitator who went viral in January when ICE agents dragged her from her car during immigration enforcement operations in her home state — to sit in the gallery as her personal guest. Wouldn't you know it, somebody as attention-seeking and willing to intentionally get arrested to interfere in law enforcement actions as Rahman, seated next to a lawmaker

North Korea hacked into the computers of a Hollywood studio in 2014, and the company's former executive now blames himself—or his own childhood—for okaying a movie that angered the dictator in Pyongyang, Kim Jong Un. "Curiously, I never really got angry at the North Koreans, on the assumption that if you kick the hornet's nest and get stung, you can't really blame the hornets," the former CEO of Sony Entertainment, Michael Lynton, writes in an excerpt that appeared in the Wall Street Journal of his new book, From Mistakes to Meaning: Owning Your Past So It Doesn't Own You. In the book excerpt, Lynton depicts then-President Barack Obama as critical

I’ve written about Shawn Farash before, because I think he’s funny as hell. In my mind, he’s one of the best — if not the best — Trump impersonators out there. He doesn’t try to look like the president, but it’s uncanny how much he can make himself sound like him. He gets the inflections right, the pace, and the kind of things Trump might say perfectly right. Here he is congratulating the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team for winning their epic gold medal against Canada in overtime: (X) People’s taste in comedy varies widely, but if you don’t find “Snow Mexico” and "shut the Tkachuk up" funny,

Sometimes all you can do is just shake your head. When you read about the tragic murder of young Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina, in August 2025, and then find out that her killer had at least 14 prior arrests, you want to cry or bang your head against the wall. The blue state style of justice brings one thing: victims of heartbreaking violence. A recent decision by a parole board in Gavin Newsom’s California seems to say, “we don’t actually give a rat’s butt about the victims, both past and future, and the criminals’ lives are more important than your own.” To wit: A California child molester once described

There are times when I, too, like some Canadian supporters of President Donald Trump, could wish he kept a tighter zip on his mouth. His referring to Justin Trudeau as “Governor” and his speculating on incorporating Canada as the 51st state cost us a Conservative administration, as Canadians fell for Liberal Mark Carney’s shameful rhetoric respecting the sanctity of Canadian nationhood. Carney, like the electorate, conveniently forgot that, according to his predecessor’s New York Times op-ed, Canada is the first post-national state with no core identity. No matter. Suddenly, we are flag-wavers again, and America, the defender of Western civilization, is now a violent and unrestrained hegemon

Around the world, “trans” ideology has collapsed and medical professionals are stepping back from chemical and surgical interventions on young people. This is obviously a good thing, in my opinion, but there is much gnashing of teeth on the Left. The New York Times runs a piece by a liberal that focuses on how the purported scientific consensus on behalf of child mutilation fell apart: American advocates for youth gender medicine have insisted for years that overwhelming evidence favors providing gender dysphoric youth with puberty blockers, hormones and, in the case of biological females, surgery to remove their breasts.

Next month the most important political book of the year, or perhaps the decade, will be published. It is called The Information State: Politics in the Age of Total Control. The author is Jacob Siegel, a journalist for the Tablet. To summarize: shocked by the arrival of Donald Trump in 2016, American government officials, the media, and the technology giants created a system of censoring the public, spying on other opponents, and planting false stories. The media was complicit and will never fully recover. Trump’s rise, Siegel writes, “meant that politics had become war, as it is in many parts of the world,

California's progressives must really hate children. I don't know how else to explain this one. One of the dumber laws passed in California (and that's saying something) over the past decade is one designed to give parole hearings to elderly convicts. Initially, anyone who has served more than 25 years and was over 60 years old was given a second chance at freedom whether they deserved it or not. And the law led to absurd results like this one from way back in 2019: Victims of the notorious “Ski Mask Rapist” thought they could close the book on him after he was sentenced to more than 400 years in prison

President Donald Trump’s 2026 State of the Union speech gave every American a front-row seat to see exactly who Democrats are — and more importantly, what they refuse to stand for. According to reports, more than 70 Democrats chose not to attend the speech, but most did, and several times over the course of the evening, they made a choice. They sat. They scowled. They heckled. While Republicans rose time and again in applause, the left side of the chamber looked like a group of children being punished. And Trump noticed. He called them out — repeatedly — for refusing to show even the most basic bipartisan enthusiasm for moments

President Trump's State of the Union speech Tuesday night got extra heated when he relentlessly called out Democrats for supporting sanctuary city policies and refusing to stand for the American people over criminal illegal aliens. Literally, refusing to stand. The President challenged Democrats to affirm their support for the American people over illegal immigrants. And they just couldn't do it. "I'm inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle," he said, glaring at the Democrat side of the room. "If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support." The principle?

Montgomery County police said it started around 12:39 a.m., when a large caravan of vehicles tied to takeover activity was spotted heading toward the Silver Spring central business district. Officers moved to monitor the group and closed several intersections to limit access and protect the public.

By now, the video has gone viral with Trump asking a simple question: “If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal immigrants.” With great timing and a gift for performance and storytelling, Trump pauses and lets the applause grow. He luxuriated in the moment as the Democrats sat there, stone-faced, thinking it would play well at MS-Now. It probably will. Trump wanted all of America to see it and remember it. He set a trap. I’ve been there dozens of times and have always felt thrilled and celebratory when they’ve won, especially in the years when Mariano Rivera was closing and Jorge Posada was catching. But what fascinated me the most was when the Yankees lost, and I witnessed the reaction of die-hard fans as they exited the ballpark. Many had fire in their eyes — pure rage. Others took to expletives.

It’s no secret that in today’s Hollywood, artistic risk-taking often comes second to woke ideological conformity. Censorship, virtue signaling, and overprescribed outrage have become show-business-as-usual. Studios trip over themselves to inject far-left political messaging into nearly every script, award shows have become lectures, and entire careers can be derailed by a single viral moment that stokes a campaign of indignation. The industry’s obsession has created a climate where self-censorship is the norm and challenging the narrative is a career hazard.
