Iran’s supreme leader taunts Trump,

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei openly taunted President Trump, insinuating that the US military, which has amassed a powerful naval presence in the region, could be “slapped so hard, it cannot get up.” The 86-year-old tyrant’s scorn came as mediators for Washington and Tehran met in Geneva to discuss Iran’s nuclear programs and broader tensions between the two countries. The U.S. President says their army is the world’s strongest, but the strongest army in the world can sometimes be slapped so hard it cannot get up,” Khamenei chided, in comments published by Iranian media. The dictator — whose brutal crackdown on nationwide protests last month has killed at least 7,000,

Why? Why are we negotiating with Iran? They lie, cheat, steal, and kill their own people. If they conceded to all our demands and 'made a deal', they would not honor the terms of the deal. To answer my own question I guess we negotiate because President Trump loves to 'make a deal'.

Bottom line, Iran has been run for decades by a theologically based anti Christian and Jewish government. Such a absolutist Islamic government, besides in talk, is not about to effectively “cave” to Trump’s demands, as they know that Trump will be gone in three years for good, or before that if they can successfully arrange for Trump’s early demise, figuring that as before the current Trump era, that some cowardly leftist Democrat government will again arise in the USA, and will again use very liberal political policies, and US taxpayers money to pay them off which would only delay resolving that situation further. There is only one sure way to bring the current Iranian government to heal, and that is by military force.

President Trump’s first-term “Maximum Pressure” policies and aggressive diplomacy significantly lowered tensions with North Korea and set a path toward denuclearization and normalization of relations. Unfortunately, President Biden’s weak foreign policy and neglect of North Korea undermined Trump’s accomplishments and left him with new and complex security challenges to solve with Pyongyang in his second term. These challenges will gain more attention later this month at North Korea’s 9th Party Congress, when North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will probably reiterate his new policy of an “unlimited drive” to expand North Korea’s nuclear arsenal.

Trump’s announcement came during a press briefing the White House scheduled on short notice after the 6-3 ruling against the IEEPA tariffs, in which Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Neil Gorsuch, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett sided with liberal judges to rule against the president. The 10 percent global tariff Trump is imposing on Friday is not under IEEPA but under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which Justice Brett Kavanaugh emphasized is another vehicle for imposing tariffs in his dissenting opinion. “Effective immediately, all national security tariffs under Section 232, and existing Section 301, tariffs…

The Supreme Court decreed in a bombshell 6-3 ruling Friday that Trump’s global tariffs were invalid and that he overstepped his powers by using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose them. The decision leaves open the question of whether the government will have to issue refunds to many of those it charged, which would be a logistical nightmare. Although liberals are celebrating, Trump himself and his Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent both said they were undeterred and would use other methods to achieve their goals. Three conservative justices, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh, dissented, and Kavanaugh came out swinging in his opinion:

President Trump launched a scathing attack on Supreme Court justices Friday after suffering a 6-3 defeat on the legality of his “reciprocal” and fentanyl tariffs. “I’m ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed, for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country,” Trump said in the White House briefing room, after two justices he nominated — Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch — voted against his signature trade policies. “They’re very unpatriotic and disloyal to our Constitution. It’s my opinion that the court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think.”

The Supreme Court’s tariff decision landed about where conventional wisdom said it would: The justices ruled 6–3 that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act simply doesn’t give the president the sweeping authority the Trump administration claimed. That’s not a political rebuke. It’s a legal one, and a narrow one at that. Chief Justice John Roberts put the bottom line plainly: “We hold that IEEPA does not authorize the President to impose tariffs.” That’s it. Not that tariffs are unconstitutional. Not that Trump’s trade agenda is illegitimate. Just that this particular statute doesn’t do the work the administration wanted it to do.

Don’t worry: Friday’s Supreme Court decision limiting some of President Donald Trump’s tariff powers won’t derail his larger, vital project of rebalancing US trade relations, boosting US industry and safeguarding US supply chains — nor should it. Yes, he’ll need to find other ways (more permanent and legally airtight) to pursue those goals, but the high court’s ruling against his across-the-board tariffs illegal also made it clear he has many such tools at his disposal — including other tariff powers. Even many of his allies warned that imposing import duties under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act was legally dubious;
