The Tragedy of the Republican Commons

Original Article

On Friday, Politico featured an article about President Trump’s pick for Federal Reserve chair, Kevin Warsh, and the announced opposition from Republican U.S. Senator Thom Tillis: This article is very complementary for Sen. Tillis, whose opposition to Warsh will certainly slow down, if not block the nomination process for Warsh on the Senate Banking Committee, where the GOP has only a 13 to 11 majority. Politico, of course, is a MSM news organ that hates Donald Trump, conservatism, and the GOP, while shamelessly in the tank for the Democrats and progressives. This is just the latest example of what I have coined the “Tragedy of the Republican Commons.”

Tillis has proven to be a truly rotten backstabber, a perfect example of the RINO. Works with the Dems every time it's actually important to pull together as a team. Murkousky is another example, just a liar who pretends to not be a Dem....until a critical vote comes up and then goes over to vote for the Dem side.

President Trump has invited several nations — including key U.S. allies — to join his “Board of Peace” to oversee postwar restoration efforts in the Gaza Strip, but several world leaders have rejected the request, and one country had its invitation revoked. The board was established after the first phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan to rehabilitate Gaza after Israel and Hamas reached a fragile ceasefire deal following two years of conflict that destroyed much of the territory’s infrastructure and killed tens of thousands of Palestinians. The Trump administration launched the board at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and issued invitations for 60 countries to join the board.

The professional networking company LinkedIn removed a conservative organization’s post that encouraged states to cooperate with federal immigration authorities on Wednesday, later saying it did so in “error.” The company initially claimed the post constituted “hateful speech.” In its post from earlier this week, the State Freedom Caucus Network (SCFN) underscored the “essential” work the Department of Homeland Security is doing in removing the millions of illegal aliens the Biden administration allowed into the United States. The group further noted the importance of states working alongside ICE and Customs and Border Protection officials to remove such individuals — including unlawfully present criminals — from America’s streets.

The legacy media are eating crow once more now that Melania has scored the best box office opening for a documentary in a decade. Over and over, Trump supporters were taunted by the corporate media about empty theaters, an imminent box office humiliation, and zero advance ticket sales. Well, reality has once again debunked these serial liars. The far-left Deadline reports that Melania will close the weekend box office in third place with an $8 million opening, a “result that would mark the best start for a docu in the last decade.”

The scale of Britain’s PIP benefits explosion has been laid bare in new official figures, with handouts for anxiety and depression nearly tripling to £4.3 billion since Covid, payments for autism and ADHD hitting £2.2 billion and those for “back pain” reaching £1.6 billion. The Mail has the story. The grim picture emerged in a breakdown of how much Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is being paid out for specific conditions. The figures come amid growing alarm at Labour’s failure to bring forward any significant reforms to the welfare system.

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s fate for ignoring congressional subpoenas is now in the hands of the House of Representatives. House Republican leaders plan to vote this coming Wednesday on contempt of Congress resolutions against the former first couple, who refused to answer subpoenas by the House Oversight Committee regarding their dealings with disgraced financier and serial sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. “The Rules Committee will meet at 4 p.m. Monday to consider the resolutions for the floor,” Politico reported Thursday. Several Democrats on the Oversight Committee joined with the Republicans to support advancing the resolutions to the House floor —

Through the centuries, many Christians have made the mistake of trying to guess the exact date of the Parousia. I will avoid that error. Christ’s Second Coming will arrive in God’s good time. I will, however, propose that the Antichrist may already have walked among us for decades. In an op-ed titled “MAGA’s War on Empathy,” published Thursday by The Atlantic, former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton — yes, Hillary Clinton, of all people — opined on what she regarded as the abandonment of Christian principles by Christian leaders, only to discover that those same Christian leaders regard her disapproval as a badge of honor,
Suicidal Empathy': Is the West Committing Suicide-by-Compassion? 8 replies

According to [Gad] Saad's thesis, empathy becomes misdirected into a type of benevolent altruism that prioritizes the perceived feelings and needs of "marginalized" or external groups at the expense of the survival, security, and interests of one's own group and its values. The outcome is the weakening, and ultimately the destruction, of the very civilization that expressed this emotion. The problem? This concept of suicidal empathy unfortunately does not work. As the term predicts, it ends up killing its host. What we observe, however, in many people, is a highly selective empathy, precisely the opposite of caring about everyone.

The arrest of narco-dictator Nicolas Maduro, the quarantine imposed on Venezuela’s oil industry and the collapse of the European Union’s “renewable energy” strategy all have raised a big question in the minds of many Americans: What role should foreign energy play in our policy efforts? This month’s I&I/TIPP Poll’s online national survey of 1,478 adults, taken from Jan. 6 to Jan 9, provides a very clear answer: Access to foreign crude oil and other energy sources is very important to a majority of Americans. The poll’s margin of error is +/-2.9 percentage points.

Congress lurched a day closer to a partial government shutdown on Wednesday after Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) laid out a list of major reforms that Democrats want to make to the Department of Homeland Security, proposals that will likely encounter resistance from President Trump. Democrats say they will block the six-bill government funding package the Senate will vote on Thursday, which includes the Homeland Security appropriations bill, putting Washington on the brink of another shutdown less than three months after the longest shutdown in American history.

Radical leftist agitators ambushed a Los Angeles Police Commission meeting Tuesday, screaming obscenities at officers and accusing the department of being murderers — before viciously turning on a California Post journalist. Around 40 agitators — many of them obscuring their identity with medical masks or keffiyeh scarves — chanted “F–k the police,” assailed officers as “pigs” and shouted anti-law enforcement slogans as their increasingly disruptive antics ground the proceedings to a halt until order was restored a short time later. The unhinged radicals tried to use their intimidation tactics against Post reporter Jamie Paige, who was covering the public meeting, peppering her with insults and attempting to physically block her camera

The United Nations is going broke and needs member nations to stump up cash. Lots of it. That is the plea from Secretary-General António Guterres who fears the globalist body is at risk of “imminent financial collapse” due to member states not paying their fees. The former leader of the Portuguese Socialist Party said Friday the U.N. faces a financial crisis which was “deepening, threatening programme delivery” and money could run out as soon as July leaving the unaccountable globalist cabal destitute. Such is the financial drama unfolding at U.N. headquarters in Geneva, signs warning of the situation have reportedly been put up everywhere.

California drivers and Republican legislators are furious over a Democrat-led proposal that could see motorists taxed for each mile they drive. With the state staring down a budget deficit in the billions and more Californians switching to electric vehicles, Democratic lawmakers are searching for new ways to shore up declining gas tax revenue. Californians pay the second-highest gas price in the nation behind only Hawaii. In January, the average price was $4.23 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association. On Thursday, state legislators advanced Democrat Lori Wilson’s bill, AB 1421, which would direct the California Transportation Commission and the state Transportation Agency to continue studying options for a mileage-based tax,

The Republican National Committee (RNC) enters the 2026 midterms in strong financial shape. The same cannot be said for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). According to a report from The New York Times, the DNC currently has $14 million on hand but is carrying $17.5 million in debt, leaving the party roughly $3.5 million in the red. Party leaders are said to be “privately alarmed” by the state of the finances.By contrast, the RNC is sitting on a $95.1 million war chest and reports no debt. Their report states: Without a president to headline events, the party that does not hold the White House often struggles to raise money in its main national committee.

Just two years ago, Mary Barra, chief executive of General Motors, declared: “We believe in an all-electric future.” She went on to claim that the challenges her company was facing in the EV market were merely temporary bumps on the road to net zero. But as Bob Dylan famously observed, things have changed. On Jan. 8, GM announced it would take a $7.1 billion hit in charges against its earnings, of which $6 billion is due to Barra’s failed EV strategy. In a filing with the SEC, the company also warned that it would take more write-downs this year as part of a “strategic realignment of EV capacity.”

During the 2025 gubernatorial election the voters of Virginia believed they were choosing between pragmatic Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger and lackluster Republican Lieutenant Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. The former was well funded and portrayed favorably by the corporate “news” media as a centrist, while the latter struggled to raise money and was labeled an extremist because of her strong support of gun rights. Spanberger won by double digits and most Virginians thought they were getting a slightly more liberal governor than her predecessor, Glenn Youngkin. Yet the moment she took office, it became obvious that Gov. Spanberger was no moderate.

The British countryside is in the midst of a diversity drive after a government-commissioned report found it was too 'white' and 'middle-class'. Officials charged with managing some of the country's best known beauty spots have laid out a series of proposals aimed at attracting minorities. In the wake of the report, officials representing National Landscapes - including the Cotswolds and Chilterns - have now published a series of management plans that detail their proposals to attract more minority communities. The Chiltern National Landscape will launch an outreach programme in Luton and High Wycombe targeted at Muslims.
