Over the weekend, USA Today reported that northeast states were experiencing an unusual winter problem – a shortage of salt. It seems that there have been so many snowstorms this winter that even states like Michigan and Vermont – which are quite accustomed to them – are running short of the snow-melting chemical. “An official from Monroe County, [Michigan] located between Detroit and Ohio, told the news station that local crews used more salt in December than in the past four Decembers combined,” says USA Today. But what’s curiously missing from this and other accounts of the winter storm

We’re having a cold, snowy January in Michigan. We have a cold, snowy January every year. It’s Michigan. There’s no drama. Traffic doesn’t even slow down.

Know what else is in short supply in Michigan? Snow plows. I had the misfortune of being forced to be in Ann Arbor for a winter training for a job. It's funny how quickly one gets used to -5 and -8 temps and everyday high temps in the teens. What surprised me, and I don't know if it's still true, is that they apparently don't plow the roads after a snow storm. Eight inches of snow, no problem. Keep driving and don't stop for anything. In the three months I was there, the only snow plows I saw were on pickups pushing snow off a parking lot. Now, I know there must have been a few large snow plows, because some roads looked plowed, but I never saw them or heard them. That's another thing one gets used to very quickly. Learning to drive in almost a foot of snow without getting stuck.

Really funny in its own way. The climate High Priests will tell any story to tie things back to their climate change agenda. The problem they face is proving it, which they seem completely incapable of doing. Of course if "it's is because we’ve upset the climate gods", well, Gods can be capricious. The other problem they face is that it's "the Science" and science and religion don't mix well but the climate High Priests want it both ways.

If they thought it would benefit their cause, the Dems would be doing human sacrifices just like the Aztecs, to appease their false gods. There’s no limit on what they’ll do if they can get away with it. What’s a murder (Charlie Kirk) or two? Attempted murder on ICE agents? Calling for the actual deaths of any other federal law enforcement! Dems are pagans in their hearts.

If the fake scientists can profit from global warming studies even though they claim that melting ice makes water levels RISE they can get away with almost anything. At least Sir David Attenborough focused on diminishing coral reefs and fish populations, where he had the description of an actual problem correct, if not the cause. When we pay archaeologists to find something, they usually find something, even if it's just a few pieces of broken pottery but climate scientists have been worthless since Carl Sagan in the 1960s. We should demand that they shut up until they can figure out a way to change the orbits of the earth, sun and moon and alter their journey around the galaxy. Until then, there will be climate change.

I was well below zero here in KC area overnight, been single digits for days. All this is "caused by global warming".....right? /s off We are 15,000 years into an interglacial period between 100,000 year Ice Ages. These interglacial periods have lasted about 10,000 years in the last few cycles. I worry a lot more about NATURAL global cooling than any Man Made Global Warming fantasies.

What is left out of the clinate change explanations is that the "changes" are average temperature increases due to night temperatures rising in and around large population areas. Everything associated with a city retains heat. A study a few years back noted that over 90% of the official US weather measurement stations were now improperly located due to city growth.

In the early months of 2025, Donald Trump sensibly began to roll back burdensome regulations that had targeted modern conveniences. Now the House has codified a Trump executive order so that the next Democratic president can’t, with the stroke of an autopen, unwind the progress. Now it’s up to the Senate to match the House’s work and make the deregulatory directive law. Still fresh into his second term in the White House, the Trump administration, in the words of Marc Oestreich that are so enjoyable to read that we have to repeat them here, “turned its chainsaws on the Department of Energy (DOE),

Some of us are old enough to remember Matthew Lesko, the lanky, fast-talking late-night TV pitchman who promised people free government money to those who bought his books. There are, Lesko said in one of his countless ads decades ago, “15,000 programs you can use to get a better job, get an education, or start your own business. Those who know about the programs are the ones who get the money!” Lesko was right about how easy it is to get taxpayer money. What Lesko didn’t say is that it’s easy to do even when it violates the law — especially if you live in a state run by Democrats.
Democrats Apparently Hate Western Civilization 7 replies

The West gave the world the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, two of the most important moments in human history. The political left apparently sees them as anathemas, though, and is determined to surrender our hard-earned culture to barbarians. Immigration has always been a part of our American story. But successful immigration depends on assimilation, on the migrants’ ability and willingness to become Americans, which, we have no trouble in asserting, has been heart, mind, and backbone of Western Civilization for at least a century. The U.S. didn’t create Western Civilization, but it has nurtured it and not just kept it alive but enriched it.

Do Americans support President Donald Trump’s decision to seize Venezuela’s leftist dictator Nicolas Maduro, despite a still-raging controversy in the mainstream media over the legality of the arrest? The answer is mostly yes, with some reservations, according to the latest I&I/TIPP Poll. The national online poll of 1,478 adults was taken from Jan. 6 to Jan. 9, mere days after Maduro’s Jan. 3 arrest by the U.S. military on charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and possession of illegal weapons. The poll has a +/-2.9 percentage point margin of error.

With the economy showing signs of strengthening, Democrats clearly hope that their attacks on ICE will help them win control of Congress after the midterm elections. Which is another reason for President Donald Trump to stay the course. As Politico put it, “An ICE agent’s killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis has pushed the fight over immigration enforcement to the center of the midterm campaign trail — opening new fault lines in some of Democrats’ most competitive congressional primaries.” It is true that the polls are not looking so hot for Trump’s handling of one of his signature campaign promises.

How many times have you heard it said that Barack Obama was “deporter in chief”? How many times did Joe Biden brag that he’d deported more illegal immigrants than Donald Trump had in his first term? Turns out, those were wild distortions of the truth bordering – if you will pardon the pun – on outright lies. In late 2024, for example, we saw stories about how deportations that year were the largest in a decade, beating Trump’s record in what would be his first term. As NPR put it, this meant that “the Republican narrative that the Biden administration has not done anything to combat illegal immigration is just not true.”

Federal agents who are doing nothing more than carrying out our immigration laws are being verbally and physically assaulted in blue states, Minnesota and California in particular. Don’t try to convince us these are organic protests with only the purest of intentions. It’s a generously funded insurgency inflamed by the Democrats, cynics who see a political opportunity to create havoc. The combatants are not in uniform, but they serve the same purpose as shock troops who are on the front lines of a revolution before the occupation forces move in. Confrontations between ICE agents and protesters have been common for nearly a year.

Will the U.S. soon launch a devastating strike to take out Iran's shaken fundamentalist Muslim regime? Or just wait for enraged Iranians to topple the teetering mullahs? Either way, Iran's regime looks finished. So what should we do? As a start, roll back President Jimmy Carter's tragic Iran mistakes of nearly 50 years ago that still win Democratic support today. The radical regime in Tehran must go. Iranians have tired of inflation, corruption, and oppression by their own government. The mullahs recognize no rights, and routinely imprison, torture, and kill their own citizens, as extensively documented.

Sometimes, we wish the never-Trumpers of the world could settle on the reason they think Donald Trump is an existential threat to the nation. Up until a few weeks ago, the threat he posed, we were told, was that he was an isolationist. As pathological Trump-hater Max Boot repeatedly said, the world needs U.S. leadership, and Trump’s isolationalism was threatening peace and stability around the globe. Boot was hardly the only one. President Donald Trump has, by many accounts, had one of the most successful first years of any presidential term. And yet, his favorability ratings among voters has barely budged. Why? Support from independents and Democrats has weakened, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. This month marks the first year of Trump’s return to the White House. How is he doing? Each month, I&I/TIPP ask a random sample of Americans the following question about presidential leadership: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable, generally unfavorable, or are you not familiar enough to say one way or the other?”

President Donald Trump said last week that he was “immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes” and “will be calling on Congress to codify” the proposal. His advisers need to show him why that’s a bad idea. Trump promised to “discuss this topic, including further housing and affordability proposals, and more, at my speech in Davos in two weeks.” So there is time to present clear arguments that should convince him to quietly drop the plan. If we had an audience with the president, we’d first remind him that the government in a free country has no authority to determine who

The crash resulted in seven fatalities and one serious injury. The jet was registered to Arnold & Itkin Trial Lawyers, known for its aggressive litigation and leftist political activism, including substantial financial support for Democrat causes, particularly those opposing strict immigration enforcement and Republican policies in Texas. The victims’ names have not been released at this time, but early reports indicate that people associated with the firm were on board.

The situation in Minnesota is out of control, and finally, happy hands lunatic Tim Walz has chosen reason, deciding to cooperate with Trump officials in the wake of the recent shooting of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis last Saturday. It sparked another round of outrage from the Left, who claim, without evidence, that he was executed. Meanwhile, some conservatives claimed wrongly that he was about to commit mass slaughter before he was shot—Pretti was legally carrying a firearm at the protest. It’s created a total mess on messaging, and now Trump is stepping in to clean up the mess, appointing Tom Homan

Alex Pretti did something foolish and illegal at the protest in Minneapolis. He interfered with law enforcement agents. There will be debates for days if not years about whether his illegal interference with the cops, the discovery of his gun, and his violent resistance justified them shooting him. In considering that issue, I urge readers to consider it not from the warm comfort of their recliner while watching slow-motion videotapes interspersed with football highlights, but from the perspective of cops who are being taunted, spat upon, name-called, and threatened with being run over by organized protesters in the bitter
