News reports published Sunday evening disclosed the Department of Justice's investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for making false statements last year related to the multi-billion dollar renovation of two Fed buildings in Washington. (snip) Powell indignantly and specifically disputed various aspects of the renovation's extravagance (snip.) But Powell's sworn statements contradict renovation plans, which were approved in 2021. (snip) [T]he project indeed involves rooftop terrace gardens, new water features, extensive amounts of new building material including marble, and what appears to be a very opulent VIP dining room.

Comments:

When the Department of Justice sent a letter politely requesting an explanation of these discrepancies, Powell blew them off. The presumption of impunity is strong in him.

It's not about interest rates. It is about $2.5 Billion for a building that Powell lied to Congress about.

Pennsylvania saw a meteoric rise in the number of adolescents receiving puberty blockers through an insurance billing code currently being investigated under the Trump administration on fraud suspicions. More than 220 claims for puberty blocking drugs were reimbursed for minors aged 10-13 (snip) for precocious puberty between Jan. 1, 2013 and Dec. 31, 2024, costing taxpayers more than $1.8 million dollars (snip.) The number of claims in the 10-13 age group went from zero in 2012 and ballooned to 47 by 2016. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has raised concerns that this billing code may be fraudulently used by gender doctors for sex-rejecting interventions.

A simple, but deeply unfair and manipulative narrative (snip) congealed as soon as Trump took office: ICE enforcement amounts to egregious military raids (snip) and as such, ICE is responsible for any unfortunate violence (snip.) Obviously that narrative has gone into overdrive since the unfortunate killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis (snip) Notably we're not seeing many ugly situations like what happened in Minneapolis in red states because the police and authorities there have been directed to cooperate. So Democrats have a simple choice before them: They can choose to (snip) cooperate with ICE, or they can choose to make their communities more dangerous.

Predictably, a fresh wave of outrage against President Donald Trump and his administration's immigration policies followed the shooting in Minnesota of anti-ice activist Renee Good. Viral videos of alleged outrages committed by ICE agents are bolstering the case against the ongoing raids and deportations. While the majority of those speaking out against them are on the left, some on the right are also falling prey to the pressure campaign. These queasy conservatives now claim that their objections to the ICE raids are grounded in a suspicion that they may be detrimental to the goal of mass deportations.

Reports circulating on social media alleging sexual assault, excessive force and kidnapping of U.S. citizens by federal immigration agents during recent enforcement operations in the Twin Cities gained widespread attention this week. But the Department of Homeland Security is pushing back on those claims and saying they don't withstand a review of the facts. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officers in the Minneapolis-area participating in its largest recent U.S. immigration enforcement operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters who aren’t obstructing authorities, including when these people are observing the agents, a judge in Minnesota ruled Friday. U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez’s ruling addresses a case filed in December on behalf of six Minnesota activists. The six are among the thousands who have been observing the activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol officers enforcing the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area since last month. Federal agents and demonstrators have repeatedly clashed since the crackdown began.

This is a good reminder that this kind of woke mind virus, widely rejected in the previous national election cycle, is still making the rounds in various corners of the entertainment world. I mean, seriously. Not only will Mulvaney be taking a significant role in a musical about women in history, but he will be taking that role away from an actual woman. Canada’s globalist Prime Minister Mark Carney’s long-anticipated trip to Beijing appears to be marked by a striking pivot away from Canada’s traditional alliances and toward deeper engagement with Communist China. The prime minister of America’s neighbor to the north gushed over Chinese President Xi Jinping, praising his “leadership” during public remarks—language that raised eyebrows both at home and abroad.

The Jan. 7 shooting death of Renee Good has become a political Rorschach test. A Quinnipiac poll released on Tuesday finds that a majority of American voters, 53%, believe ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who shot Good on a Minneapolis street last Wednesday, was not justified in doing so. Thirty-five percent believe the shooting was justified, while 12% have no opinion. But the poll results vary widely when the respondents’ political affiliations are examined. Seventy-seven percent of Republicans believe the shooting was justified, while 28% of independents and only four percent of Democrats hold the same opinion. These poll results are unsurprising. Since the meeting was purposely kept private, I wasn't sure that a photo would surface, but one got out, and as of late Thursday night, both the White House and Machado have shared it on social media.
