PBS confirmed the cancellation in a post on X, stating: “Due to federal budget cuts, PBS News had to make the difficult decision to rework our staffing and programming. This Sunday, our PBS News Weekend team will sign off the air.”
The announcement follows the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) voting to dissolve itself on January 5, 2026, completing a shutdown process that began after the rescission of federal funding triggered by a May 2025 executive order from President Donald Trump and a $9 billion rescissions package passed by Congress in mid-2025. But I thought that PBS and NPR was important to report news and inform the locals.
Yeah, like they did during the floods in Kerrville (which they didn't).

There's a reason normal people called them
National Propaganda Radio and Propaganda Broadcasting System.
Everything is from a far-Left (that is to say, Communist) viewpoint.
.... and they beg for donations, while their top Bureaucrat pulled down FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR..... with no mention of any Bonuses.
Nice work if you can get it.
Like they said in the book:

My very conservative sibling lives in an area with no cable or internet service but has a TV antenna to get a bunch of stations. She used to watch PBS (not the news which always made her mad) and she said she's noticed a big decrease in programming from PBS. She says there's enough entertainment from other sources that she won't miss it at all. She watched the first episode of Ken Burns American Revolution and got boiling mad.
Bye PBS, I used to enjoy Masterpiece Theatre and a few other things. You shot yourself in the foot and I can't feel sorry.

They had one good program, Murder in Paradise, and they removed that a long time ago. Now it's nothing but lies on top of lies.

We don't watch any PBS news stuff other than for its amusement value, checking just how far they deviate from the truth, but we do like a lot of the Masterpiece and Masterpiece Mystery shows. Oddly enough the majority are British made like "Miss Scarlet", "All Creatures Great and Small", "Call the Midwife", "The Marlow Murder Club" and others. Many of those are period pieces that are hard to infect with a lot of the current nonsense. The Brits are masters of character-driven stories unlike the junk that passes for drama on US networks.

Little, unimportant things in our lives are soon forgotten. PBS weekend news is one of those things. Life goes on.

#9, you can find the entire Murder in Paradise series and many others like it on Britbox with Prime, but it'll cost you an extra 6.99 a month. One thing I've learned since getting it is that the Brits sure do love their mysteries. Oh, and thanks for the recommendation.

I can't even tune in to NOVA any longer. It has been infiltrated with near subliminal political messaging which causes me to question the veracity of the data and the conclusions.

First, I don't need PBS for the news.
Second, I don't want to hear PBS lefty opinion which is what they are really peddling.
Third, PBS will have a telethon to raise money for weekend 'news'. I don't believe they are going away.
This is all a ploy for attention.

This is the proof, as if we needed any, that PBS was wholly subsidized by the taxpayers, not by the listeners. I know, I know, "P" stands for public but they kept yelling that it was only part of their budget that their monies came from the govt. We say good riddance to a propaganda network for the Left. Another win for President Trump! Thank you Mr. President.

Uhhh..... how 'bout pulling the plug on News Hour week nights? throw in Amanpour and revisionist historian Ken Burns, too?

IMHO PBS has always been a condescending group of leftists that think that they know what is best for everybody, except them. Their newscasts leaned in only one direction and that's it. If you question anyone of them, you are a bigot, homophobe or a nazi. In other words, a liberal, progressive leftoid. Never had much use for any of them.
