A Horrible Year for Health?

Original Article

The Lancet, headquartered in Britain, was once a respected medical journal. Now, it is mostly a left-wing rag. The current issue, just out, leads with an editorial titled “2025: an annus horribilis for health in the USA.” Really? Our health has gone downhill? Has life expectancy declined? Was there an epidemic that I missed? No. The entire editorial is an anti-Trump screed. 2025 was a horrible year, not for Americans’ health, but for left-wing preferences in health care policy. Thus: Federal funding cuts had occurred under Joe Biden and mistrust in the nation’s health leaders has been waning over time, but the goal of the Trump administration

Brits resent our having won freedom from them. And then went on to make them seem like poor relations. They also resent our having much better teeth.

In the UK, the typical "treatment" regime for a woman with a lump in her breast is as follows: 1.) Visit the General Practitioner (GP), who will schedule a visit with an oncoologist for 8 months later; 2.) 8 months later, the oncologist will inform the woman that she has terminal breast cancer (which would not be the case with earlier treatment prompted by an earlier visit to the oncologist), after which pain is managed until death. Our health care delivery system is not what it used to be in America -- especially since the perversion of health insurance by Oponziecare distorted its economics to the point that hospitals prefer to have walk-in illegals on Medicaid as patients instead of insured Americans -- but it's still easily preferable to the highly politicized and heavily rationed UK NHS.

Our healthcare system is based on corruption and fraud, and no where near all of it has been brought to the surface, as it is ignored, and unreported. Doctors use procedural codes for things not done, and people not there, or there only incidentally. Costs are offloaded on those with money from those that have none. The hospitals and nursing homes are filled with incidents of unreported theft, and no one can have anything of value there without it being stolen. The health providers don't publish their costs, because no one would have the procedure, if they had to pay for it. Many procedures are unnecessary, and many prescriptions are incorrect, or unnecessary. This has been the case since Medicare was passed in the 1960's.

Trump's Marijuana Reclassification: A
Pragmatic Step, but One That Warrants Caution

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing federal agencies to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act. This shift acknowledges the drug's potential medical uses while placing it alongside substances like ketamine and codeine-laced Tylenol, which carry moderate risks of dependence. The move builds on a process initiated under the Biden administration but stalled by inaction for years. Trump emphasized that the order facilitates essential research into marijuana's benefits and dangers without legalizing recreational use nationwide. "This reclassification order will make it far easier to conduct marijuana-related medical research,"

And now, readers, we return to the story that won’t go away, the Jeffrey Epstein saga. The deceased pedophile continues to dominate headlines over six years after his death, mostly because there are rumors that high-profile individuals were involved with his exploits, and if their enemies can prove it, they can be ruined. There are also countless victims who have never received justice. Already this Friday afternoon/evening, news broke that today was the deadline Congress had established for the DOJ to release the files, and the department was doing just that. As our Ward Clark reported, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that the investigation had

Okay, John Hinderaker went and did it last week! He has abused his stewardship of TWiP and went full Die Hard Christmas Movie Denialist! As the Dude says in The Big Lebowski, this aggression will not stand, man! To restore proper balance in the universe, I am staging a coup d’tat, and am taking over this week’s TWiP. To mix movie references further, John has done a Denethor-level job as Steward of TWiP; time for the Return of the (TWiP) King! Actually, like the Gaza and (prospective) Ukraine ceasefires, we’re going to share power, and alternate TWiP each week. And so as the great John McClain

Minnesota has "developed a fraud tourism industry" that entices scammers to travel to the North Star State to exploit "easy money" taxpayer-funded programs, Joe Thompson, the federal prosecutor behind the Somali fraud convictions, said Thursday. He unveiled charges against six new defendants, including two who were based in Philadelphia. Federal prosecutors accused Anthony Waddell Jefferson and Lester Brown of traveling to Minneapolis to enroll sham companies in Minnesota’s federally funded Housing Stabilization Services program after hearing it was "a good opportunity to make money." The pair then returned to Philadelphia where they allegedly submitted up to $3.5 million in "fake and inflated"

The most important thing to learn from the December 2025 Bondi Beach attack is how to better anticipate and mitigate the next attack. There is probably going to be another attack, somewhere, sometime. The auguries are plain. As Australian authorities try to retrace the steps and understand the motivations of the Bondi Beach gunmen who killed 15 people on Sunday, one key focus has emerged: their travel to the Philippines last month, shortly before the attack. What’s in the Philippines? The Islamic State of East Asia. The Australian government says, “ISEA is one of Islamic State’s wilayat-bayat (“peripheric provinces”) … ISEA is affiliated with Islamic State. In September 2017, the

The unspeakable tragedy that has been visited upon the family of Rob Reiner has likely left all parents in shock. Given what has been available to read about Nick Reiner these past several days, since the murder of his parents, it has shed a little light on what that family has endured since their son Nick was eight years old, maybe even before that. He was apparently a difficult child long before he became a drug user. His parents tried to help him way back then after he disrupted their yoga sessions. They hired their trainer to work specifically with Nick, thinking yoga would help him

Kamala Harris is still doing her best to hawk her book. She had two interviews that got attention on Wednesday, one with former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison and one with Jimmy Kimmel on his ABC late night show. Both interviews were just another window into why Harris would be a terrible candidate for 2028, given the comments that she made. Harrison asked Harris about 2028, and she left the door wide open. Meanwhile, the interviewer cried when asked by his wife when the time would come for black women [to be president]. Um, guys? She didn't lose because she was black, any more than Hillary Clinton

It's been nearly a year since a U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided with a passenger jet on approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which resulted in both aircraft plummeting into the icy Potomac River below. The January 29, 2025, crash killed 67 people – 64 on the American Airlines flight and three Army personnel on the Black Hawk – and the first lawsuit related to the disaster is making its way through the courts. Rachel Crafton, the widow of American Airlines flight 5342 (AE5342) passenger Casey Crafton, is suing the airline and the U.S. government over her husband's "senseless and tragic" death. There’s nothing ‘right-wing’ about defending the Bill of Rights. Being called “right-wing” or “fascist” is detestable. The label implies a preference for dictatorship, authoritarianism, and government supremacy over personal freedom. The exact opposite is true. I would describe myself as a supporter of autarchism in the sense that we should rule ourselves and not be ruled by others. As someone who believes strongly in individual liberty, self-reliance, and self-government, I distrust all repositories of power -- whether such power resides in government, corporations, or social institutions. As Lord Acton advised: “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” In my estimation, nothing in this physical world can be trusted with power

There is a question floating around conservative circles that makes polite society squirm, which is usually how you know it is worth asking. It went viral again as it was posed on X in November. (X) Why do so many modern liberal women speak with open hostility toward Christianity while extending sympathy, or at least silence, toward Islam? Not cultural Muslims living quietly in America. Not neighbors or coworkers. The ideology itself, especially its fundamentalist expressions that are openly hostile to women’s rights, autonomy, and safety. That question is not hateful. It is not ignorant. It is observant. Anyone who has bothered to read basic reporting from Iran, Afghanistan, or parts of

A Wisconsin judge accused of concealing an undocumented man to prevent his arrest by immigration authorities was found guilty of felony obstruction, according to ABC Milwaukee affiliate WISN, which was in the courtroom for the trial. Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was charged in a two-count federal indictment that alleges she obstructed official Department of Homeland Security removal proceedings and knowingly concealed the man from immigration authorities at a courthouse in April. Dugan was found guilty of obstructing federal agents and not guilty of concealing an undocumented immigrant from arrest during an April courthouse incident.

GOP Rep. I did not come to this decision lightly for our family,” she posted on X. “While we would have overwhelmingly won this primary, it is not an effective use of our time or your generous resources to spend the first half of next year in an unnecessary and protracted Republican primary, especially in a challenging state like New York.”

Half of $18 billion in federal welfare funds, which supports 14 Minnesota-run programs since 2018, has been lost to fraud, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said during a press conference Thursday. People come from all over the world to steal millions from U.S. government Medicaid, housing, and other programs, he added. “Minnesota has become a magnet for fraud, so much so that we have developed a fraud tourism industry — people coming to our state purely to exploit and defraud its programs,” Thompson said. “This is a deeply unsettling reality that all Minnesotans should understand.”

Democrats are sinking like a stone, and the new Quinnipiac poll makes it official: their congressional approval rating has hit a historic low of just 18%, with a brutal 73% disapproving. That's the worst number Quinnipiac has recorded since they started asking the question back in 2009. Even CNN's chief data analyst, Harry Enten, couldn't hide his shock, declaring that "Democrats, in the minds of the American public, are lower than the Dead Sea." The real kicker? Democrats are turning on their own party. Only 42% of Democratic voters approve of how their representatives in Congress are performing, while 48% disapprove.

In fact, when it comes to tipping good service, I’m renowned for being generous, and was going twenty percent years before it was standard. My formula for a tip is this. When I enter an establishment, the wait staff is at twenty percent, perhaps even a little more. The tip is built into my tipping psyche. At that point, it’s up to the wait staff to begin working their way down.

A Georgia State Election Board investigation substantiated that Fulton County violated election rules in 2020 by failing to have poll workers sign required tabulation tapes for early votes in 36 out of 37 advanced voting precincts, affecting approximately 315,000 ballots. These unsigned tapes broke the chain-of-custody and certification requirements under Georgia law, which mandates signed tapes as the sole legal proof of authentic vote totals. During a board meeting on December 9th, Ann Brumbaugh, attorney for the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections, contends that Fulton County does “not dispute that the tapes were not signed.” Oof.
