The Schumer Shutdown is doing more than showing us government waste; it's showing us the corruption of American culture. What we've known was behind the curtain the whole time is now on full display for all to see. I wrote earlier this week about local spots stepping up to care for their neighbors in need, and the comments are fantastic. One of the lines that seemed to resonate with readers was "Little Sally loves popsicles! It's simple: pour orange juice into a paper cup, put a stick in the cup, put the cup in the freezer, wait two hours."

Comments:

I learned to cook from my mom, Girl Scouts and high school Home Ec classes. I have never NOT been able to feed myself from even the most basic of ingredients!! How sad that this has been lost on the leech class!!

The "boss" in the 2nd video was positively infuriating. He's not working for nobody! What do they mean by asking him to work 20 hours/week?? He ain't doing it! After all.....as he declares.......the American worker is supposed to be working FOR him by feeding his kids. He's too special to get off his rump, apparently. The ultimate Entitlement King. If the woman in the first video didn't like the assortment of food in her box, there's a simple fix for that ~ get a job, peaches; then you can pick out your own groceries each week.

I love to cook. Admittedly, I'm 82 and have been enjoying cooking, especially in the 26 years since I've been retired. I think a home cooked meal, enjoyed with my wife of 58 years, is one of the high lights of the day. Too many times, I hear the kids talking about where they go out to eat, and it saddens me to know they don't know the joy of creating a meal from scratch.

I'm impressed seeing people donating their resources to help neighbors in need. I've even donated myself. Soon though, people will get tired of donating to professional moochers and scam artists, and the freebies will slow. Then people will have to get creative, like maybe getting a job. Already some of the local food banks are saying they're empty.

We couldnt get food stamps when I was a tween and my dad died. I had a brother who was 13 who made a few dollars helping local farmers occasionally, Mom wouldnt lie about that and those few dollars coming into the house sid she couldnt have help feeding 7 children. Meanwhile, a family who owned their home and 2 new cars stopped at the local store and I saw them buy gobs of candy with food stamps.

Until the time that Barack Obama took office, I had a reasonable amount of faith in the U.S. federal government. I knew that those on the Left in positions of leadership, as well as some on the Right, often concocted narratives for their own ends. The mainstream media decidedly leaned Left, and shaded every story, feature, event, and happening in the U.S. and around the world to their own point of view. Still, it was easy enough to get past what they were claiming. Maybe Some Good Could Result With the ascension of Barack Obama and his subsequent election as POTUS, I thought, okay, I’d never vote for him,

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. —Jimmy Dean It’s time to adjust our sails. On the heels of Tuesday’s electoral victories, the Democrats are motivated and energized: In their estimation, the so-called “Schumer Shutdown” is working marvelously, because the American people are blaming the Republicans. And the Democrats are reaping the political benefits. That’s because voters know that the White House, Senate, and House are all under GOP control, but they don’t really understand the nuances of parliamentary procedure. (Yawn: boring!) Instead of focusing on the 60-man threshold necessary to overcome a Democratic filibuster, they’re focusing on leadership:

The left always cares more about narrative than the truth. A split-second image can fuel outrage, (Snip) Yet behind the noise lay a moment that said more about leadership than any carefully crafted address could. That moment came during a White House event on Thursday focused on expanding access to obesity treatments. In the middle of the ceremony, a guest suddenly collapsed in the Oval Office as President Trump spoke about making life-saving weight-loss medications more affordable and accessible for Americans struggling with obesity. White House medical staff rushed to assist, and after prompt on-site care, the man is reportedly in stable condition.

The Supreme Court's decision to allow the administration to pay only partial SNAP benefits during the shutdown gives Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress a clear road to victory in the shutdown fight now entering its 39th day. SCOTUS recognized that this is not a separation of powers constitutional issue. It's a political issue, and the Supreme Court tends to avoid intervening in political disputes. The ball is now firmly in the hands of the Democrats, who have gotten themselves into a no-win situation. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tried a delay gambit, offering to reopen the government

There it was this morning, plain as day. It was a screenshot of a woman going off about how her food stamps were cut off, the $1,000 per month she and her family supposedly get from the government, juxtaposed against her being called out by someone else for hair extensions, expensive trips to the nail salon, and tattoos. In short, she wastes money on unnecessary things and then demands money from the government to support herself. She's squandering money on luxuries while relying on the taxpayers to fund her groceries for anywhere between four and seven people in her household. And worse, there's no sense of shame among many of these people.

The White House has asked a federal appeals court to issue an emergency block, after a federal judge ruled on Thursday that the administration would have to pay full Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) payments in full amid the longest government shutdown in United States history. Judge Jack McConnell of the U.S. District Court in Rhode Island rejected the Trump administration’s request to pay only 65 percent of SNAP benefits this month. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a $5 billion contingency fund for emergencies like the Schumer Shutdown, but that amount falls short of the $8.5 to $9 billion needed to fully fund monthly SNAP payments.

Germany's grand “Muslim Miracle” was supposed to save the country’s future. Instead, it broke it into a million pieces. About ten years ago, German leaders sold their citizens on a utopian plan: import millions of young Muslims to flood the workforce, rescue a collapsing pension system, and secure the nation’s prosperity for generations. The theory sounded far-fetched and absurd, but Germans bought into it. However, the reality was a total disaster. Fast-forward to today, and Germany is now raising its retirement age to 70. The German people were lied to. The plan to rebuild the workforce through mass immigration didn’t just fail; it cratered. It didn’t revive the economy

CNN last month reported on struggling federal workers whose emergency funds had evaporated, while the Associated Press reported: “Federal workers endure financial strain and fear layoffs as the government shutdown drags on.” An Oct. 27 commentary on MSNBC blamed President Trump and House Republicans for “abandoning federal workers who have now missed two paychecks.”
