A federal judge has permanently blocked President Donald Trump from deploying the National Guard to Portland.
U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut issued the 106-page ruling on Friday for the lawsuit filed after Trump sent troops to secure U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities.
The state of Oregon, the city of Portland, and the state of California sued Trump, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Defense Secretary Kristi Noem. [Tweets]
The ruling said that there wasn't enough violence at the protests to require the National Guard, and local police broke up the fights.

Shouldn’t the President as C-in-C be deciding whether or not the violence is severe enough? What expertise does a law school trained, unelected judge have in the matter? This will be overturned for sure. But we must eliminate this intermediate step once and for all?

This was decided in 1791...By George Washington, the congress and the Supreme court. The President can order ANY military units, and any/all militias(Guard units) to go where he pleases, as he pleases, regardless of the wishes/consent of any state's governors and/or legislatures. Perhaps with the Govt shut down, lack of budget...it is time to "Close and consolidate" certain Federal courts, lay off some judges, retain only those needed for the "Govt to function"

Trump appointed her during his 1st term...She also serves on the FISA court. Last year she was sanctioned for overturning a jury conviction and settlement where a police officer was found guilty for shooting a "Protestor" with rubber bullet. Her "Overturn" was overturned...

When will these pipsqueak local judges, who know they have no jurisdiction, be defrocked and punted end over end from the bench?

Neither this judge nor any other is qualified or has the authority to make that determination. The way this judge and others are acting, we have no need for elections since they are assuming authority of both the Congress and the Executive branches of government. They need to be debenched

I have a good friend who has spent over 40 years as a lawyer at the top of his field. He's long said the quality and knowledge of judges has fallen to yhe point that many judges are lawyers who couldn't cut it in private practice or the courtroom but have enough political acumen to get elected or appointed. Often, he has to teach them the law.
Looks like this has extended to the federal judiciary as well.

Do these people hear themselves? A major restructuring of the judicial system is overdue. Let those pro illegal immigrant people have a taste of the Kent State treatment and things will fall into place.

Wow, Federal Judge Karin, arrogant to a fault, takes control of the National Guard.
Fools like her are just destroying the federal judiciary.

A waste of paper, will be overturned. Judges need to collect penalty points for this sort of crap. Enough penalty points, say four overturned garbage political hack "rulings" and the judge is fired.

What manner of intelligence and what experience does this one Judge have that justifies his opinion over the President of the United States. This ruling isn't worth the paper it is written on.
The Supreme Court has to bring these liberal tick turds to the realization they they are not running this country.

This has already decided by the Supreme Court. The president can order the national guard to any place he wants but let the communist judges think they have the power to decide.
