Federal Judge Blocks Trump From Sending
Troops to Portland

A federal judge has permanently blocked President Donald Trump from deploying the National Guard to Portland. U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut issued the 106-page ruling on Friday for the lawsuit filed after Trump sent troops to secure U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities. The state of Oregon, the city of Portland, and the state of California sued Trump, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Defense Secretary Kristi Noem. [Tweets] The ruling said that there wasn't enough violence at the protests to require the National Guard, and local police broke up the fights.

Comments:

Soon to be overturned by SCOTUS, as they have done previously.

Shouldn’t the President as C-in-C be deciding whether or not the violence is severe enough? What expertise does a law school trained, unelected judge have in the matter? This will be overturned for sure. But we must eliminate this intermediate step once and for all?

This was decided in 1791...By George Washington, the congress and the Supreme court. The President can order ANY military units, and any/all militias(Guard units) to go where he pleases, as he pleases, regardless of the wishes/consent of any state's governors and/or legislatures. Perhaps with the Govt shut down, lack of budget...it is time to "Close and consolidate" certain Federal courts, lay off some judges, retain only those needed for the "Govt to function"

"The ruling said that there wasn't enough violence at the protests to require the National Guard," Neither this judge nor any other is qualified or has the authority to make that determination. The way this judge and others are acting, we have no need for elections since they are assuming authority of both the Congress and the Executive branches of government. They need to be debenched

I have a good friend who has spent over 40 years as a lawyer at the top of his field. He's long said the quality and knowledge of judges has fallen to yhe point that many judges are lawyers who couldn't cut it in private practice or the courtroom but have enough political acumen to get elected or appointed. Often, he has to teach them the law. Looks like this has extended to the federal judiciary as well.

Last month, I reported that, despite what politicians said, Memphis residents were excited for Donald Trump to send the National Guard in to clean up their crime-ridden city. The president created a Memphis Safe Task Force, whose job was to "end street and violent crime in Memphis to the greatest possible extent." It sounds like the task force, which is comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and authorities, has been quite successful, especially for families with young children. The United States Marshals Service announced on Saturday that since the task force began, 101 missing children in the Memphis area have been found and returned to their homes.

They crossed the aisle and voted to reopen the government—with none of their big demands met. That’s not leadership. That’s surrender. They spent six weeks making America miserable just to end up right where they started. Except now, everyone knows they flinched.

Narratives were set and eagerly parroted by the media within hours. Buses filled with non-MAGA people were reported and verified by congressional reps. And there were "bombs" found at the Democratic National Committee and later at a club near the RNC. Impeachment talk was openly discussed. Suddenly, questioning the obviously hinky 2020 election was a criminal act against democracy. Trump must go to jail, the left said. And then they went about trying to make that happen.

Kamala Harris is continuing her push toward yet another run for president, and that's leading to some awkward exchanges. As RedState reported, the failed 2024 Democrat nominee and former vice president is peddling a new book, doing her best to rewrite history in her favor. Part of that requires convincing Americans that she wasn't given a fair shot, both because of Joe Biden's late exit from the race and the dynamics surrounding President Donald Trump. Of course, that's not really the truth, is it? She's going to try, though, and that apparently includes claiming her 2024 campaign was "3D chess" in which she outmaneuvered Trump.

The 42-day federal shutdown forced by Democrats thrust the economics of Obamacare into the limelight, and exposed an uncomfortable truth: An insurance industry whose executives are increasingly liberal donors has seen its earnings soar with the injection of taxpayer-funded subsidies that propped up Barack Obama's signature health program from collapse. The nation’s largest health insurance companies have seen good business since Obamacare was first passed in 2010 and fully implemented in 2014. This has come in no small part because of federal government subsidies to the insurance industry, which government estimates show totaled $1.8 trillion in 2023 alone.

According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Latin Kings have targeted immigration enforcement officers working in the city, leading the agency to warn its teams to use “extreme caution.” Shots were fired. Agents’ vehicles were rammed. Bricks and paint cans were thrown at Border Patrol trucks in the Little Village neighborhood during ongoing immigration operations.
