The story of George Franklin Grant, a dentist, academic, and recreational golfer, is interesting. This isn’t just because he, a Harvard professor, invented a wood-composite golf tee in 1899. It’s that under many Americans’ conception of history, he shouldn’t even have existed. You see, Grant was a successful black man in the U.S. almost 100 years before the civil-rights era or the birth of affirmative action. Yes, you read that right. Grant was admitted to Harvard Dental School in 1868 and then became Harvard University’s first black faculty member in 1871. Grant wasn’t alone, either (except in his golf-invention exploits). By 1920, there were 3,560 black physicians in America, a figure including 65 black women.

It hasn't been a banner month for Kamala Harris. A little less than a year from the day she lost the election, Harris is on a book tour (one that her fellow Dems are pretty sour on), and she's getting lambasted by foreign media for her role in covering up Joe Biden's cognitive decline.
Despite these setbacks, Harris insists she's not done with politics, even though in August she told Stephen Colbert she was stepping away from "public service" because the "system is broken."
In April 2024, Kaliyah Chism and her husband, Jaicobi Freeman, called an ambulance to take their two-month-old son, Kylen, to the hospital after he experienced an injury. By the next day, the state had seized all of their children. Now, the mother and father are fighting the state of Georgia not only for their own freedom but also for the freedom of their children.
The family’s ordeal began during a routine diaper change. “My husband explained to me that he was changing the diaper, and Kylen’s leg got caught in the onesie. He tried to get it out, and he heard a pop,” Chism told Townhall.
