The European Commission said on Monday that its president, Ursula von der Leyen, was en route to Bulgaria when her plane faced deliberate GPS jamming. "We can confirm there was GPS jamming but the plane landed safe," said Arianna Podesta, a commission spokeswoman. Von der Leyen's plane landed in Plovdiv airport and she is continuing her planned tour of EU countries bordering Russia and Belarus, Podesta said. The EU chief arrived in Bulgaria on Sunday and met with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to discuss European security and defense issues.

Comments:

If they can do it to her, what’s to say they won’t try to do it to others — including our President?

When I was flying back in the early 60's never had anything like that...aeronautical charts and a dang compass was all we needed...how did we manage to bomb Germany and Japan without GPS???

Since GPS is often used by various weapons systems, it is common for war zones to have intentionally "spoofed" GPS data, or just jammed and no data available. The intentionally spoofed stuff is super dangerous.....if you trust it you might find a rock in that cloud.

Re #4, not so for many airlines these days. Often the PRIMARY navigation and landing is done via GPS. Final approaches in very bad weather are most often done with Instrument Landing System (ILS) tech, but many approaches are GPS, and much enroute navigation is GPS these days.

No, we don’t need illegal immigrants

Americans have been told for decades we’re in desperate need of an underclass to handle the work we don’t want to do ourselves. We were convinced the development of an American caste system, with the “illegal untouchables” assigned the least-attractive duties, is what a prosperous nation like ours deserves. This narrative’s purveyors swore to us the depth of illegal immigration would remain shallow enough that these people wouldn’t be a competitive workforce for jobs American citizens want to earn a living from. This deception has created what I call “The Great Illegal-Immigrant Lie.”

Talk show host Charlie Kirk commented on Brandon Johnson's opposition to President Trump sending federal forces to stop crime on the streets of Chicago. "I think President Trump should call his bluff. I think we should flood the zone. It's already working in Washington, D.C. Chicago is a next perfect test case," Kirk said. "It's time for a federal takeover of Chicago. We've been calling for this for quite some time. I think we're getting closer. I think you're gonna see the president pull the trigger sometime soon." CHARLIE KIRK: Brandon Johnson might be the most unimpressive mayor in America... He shouldn't be the mayor of Chicago. Chicago deserves so much better
Trump Must Finish Off the National Endowment

Writing elsewhere last month, I suggested that Donald Trump end the National Endowment for Democracy once and for all. Like most so-called “non-governmental organizations,” the NED is in fact an all-governmental organization. It depends absolutely on a subsidy from the state department, i.e., from the federal government, i.e., from the taxpayer, i.e., from you. The NED began life in the Cold War as a way of projecting “soft power” against our Communist adversaries. But as James Piereson noted in February of this year, the NED has undergone a familiar process of mission creep and moral and political entropy.

On July 14th, President Donald Trump set a deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine – 50 days. The war’s death toll and the Russian leader’s bad faith negotiating tactics had exceeded the president’s patience threshold and it was time for the Trump Administration to weigh in more heavily than it had thus far. President Trump threatened sanctions and secondary sanctions if Putin didn’t stop the conflict, offering increased military support to Ukraine as well. Putin was on the clock! Two weeks later, an important change took place when Trump accelerated the timeline. It was that pressure-packed strategy that quickly brought Putin to the negotiating table.

It’s been said that if you’re not a Communist at 20, you have no heart — but if you’re not a capitalist by 30, you have no brain. That’s all too befitting the sad farce of New York’s mayoral race, led by front-runner Zohran Mamdani. How does Mamdani, as the only major candidate who comes close to the 20-30 age range, measure up? Mamdani’s smiling, youthful energy attracted many real 20- to 30-year-old New Yorkers, as well as many older 20-somethings-at-heart. His wealth of socialist/Communist ideas — abolishing private property, seizing the means of production, defunding the police, freezing rent, providing free public transportation, establishing government-run stores and more — make many

Almost weekly in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, a sensational assault committed by an illegal migrant -- often enjoying some sort of state support or with prior arrests for the same crime -- surfaces. Until recently, European politicians and the media sought to either ignore such news or accuse those who clamored for tighter borders, more police protection, and stiffer penalties of being "racists" or "xenophobes." Until recently, that is. Mass protests are now common in Britain against the Labour Party's open borders policies and generous welfare entitlements for immigrants who arrive illegally and without authentic "political refugee" status.

The heartbreaking mass shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday has brought the issue of transgenderism once again to the forefront of American conversations. Robert Westman was an unwell boy who, in 2019, decided he was a girl and officially changed his name to Robin. Westman was a minor at the time so his mother, Mary Grace Weston, signed the application. This is the second such attack by a transgender person on a Christian school. In March 2023, Audrey Hale killed six people, including three children, at the Covenant School in Nashville.

Before there was the obvious cognitive decline of Joe Biden, there was the obvious cognitive incapacity of Robert Mueller. However, both acuity compromises were ignored because the agenda the figureheads represented was more important than their obvious compromise. A federal judge has declared President Donald Trump’s use of military troops in Los Angeles illegal, barring the Pentagon from using National Guard members and Marines from performing police functions, like arrests and crowd control. In a 52-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer warned that Trump appears intent on “creating a national police force with the President as its chief.” Trump billed his deployment of troops to Los Angeles, starting in early June, as a way of bolstering immigration enforcement efforts amid protests in the city against the president’s deportation agenda. Though Trump has now withdrawn all but 300 of those troops, he is mulling

A new poll has found most U.S. adults agree hard work no longer guarantees economic gain, crushing the long-held cultural belief known as the American dream. There is a running joke on TikTok, which is predominantly used by younger adults, that the Baby Boomer generation is now able to sell their homes for millions after buying them with a handful of raspberries. This sentiment rang true in a recent survey from The Wall Street Journal and NORC at the University of Chicago, as well as in interviews conducted by the publication. A majority of respondents said the prior generation had an easier time buying a home, starting a
