Nine Democrat officials pleaded not guilty this week to felony election-fraud charges in one of the most significant ballot-harvesting cases in recent Texas history. The charges were brought by Attorney General Ken Paxton after a two-year investigation that uncovered what prosecutors describe as an organized scheme to manipulate mail-in ballots in rural South Texas. Six of the defendants appeared in person at a Pearsall courtroom on Wednesday, while three others joined remotely through Zoom. Among those charged is Juan Manuel Medina, the former chairman of the Bexar County Democrat Party. Medina’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss the charges, arguing that the prosecution is politically motivated,
