The last thing I heard before my ears started ringing was my left turn signal clicking.
I was stopped at a red light on a Saturday afternoon, waiting to glide into my parking lot near the Waterfront Metro stop in Washington, DC when a loud crack suddenly deafened me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bullet-sized wound in my windshield.
It wasn’t a windy day, and no cars had been passing by to kick a loose stone up at my beloved Camry, so it only took me only a half-second to realize what had happened. When the fight or flight kicked in, I briefly

I applaud President Trump for taking over law and order in the nation's capital. Our capital should be a showcase for the world to see.

Back in the 80s and early 90s I would walk all over Northwest DC day and night without any worries. Today when I go into DC I just stick to the area containing the museums and monuments. And unless I'm going to an evening concert or hockey game at the arena (the Metro station is connected to the the arena), I'm back to Virginia before sunset. Getting off the beaten path and roaming around after dark is just too risky.

Lots of the usual suspects in DC, but isn't that so in all of the democrat cities where crime is a problem?

If any other (Democrat) President had decided to do the same thing, he would have been loudly lauded by the same people who are now clutching their pearls. They will NEVER admit the necessity of the President's action because they are proud members in good standing of the "Trump Can Do Nothing Right Club".
I don't think they'd change their minds if they became one of the crime statistics in DC.

I've seen wars on poverty, drugs, and many other 'sounds good, but ends up being worse than worthless,' DC nonsense. How about a 'war' on lowlife losers? Rats enjoy gangs, thugs and mental defectives. The more they hurt and terrorize citizens, the more they claim those victims NEED them to stop what they not only started, but encourage. The only thing more evil and stupid than rats, are the absolute morons who keep voting for them. Those sheepish fools will never get it, even as they are robbed, raped or killed. Someone has to save those idiots and beat back the scum that are allowed to run amuck by rats. BTW, anyone who can't raise a child or won't, should be forced to be part of the solution.

The idiot mayor said "This isn't 700,000 sc**bags or thugs...." yep, only about 250,000 of them are sc**bags and thugs.
I saw that DC was too unsafe to visit any more about 20 years ago, the last time we visited to see the museums again. Not likely to ever go back unless I can be legally armed. I had to hide my Swiss Army knife in my sock to get into the Air & Space Museum last time....that's how insane these clowns are.
And this guy shows that for mere shootings and beatings the cops don't even show up, won't even ATTEMPT to solve the crime. Worthless, useless, essentially complicit.

I was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and worked there 40+ years. I live eight miles away in Northern Virginia, but now I never go into the District because of crime. It is horrible.
I won't explain the demographics, but the origins of the problems are obvious.

There’s one aspect of the DC environment that author conspicuously leaves out in his article.
We all know what it is.

One Dem smartass commented that "DC isn't Fallujah"......Yeah, people have checked and Fallujah has a much lower crime rate than DC.

In 2008, a dear friend, one of the most gentle souls I've ever known, was murdered on the streets of D.C. by three juveniles - 14, 15, and 16. Because the District does not allow juveniles to be tried as adults, they could only be held in a juvenile facility until they turned 21. At the juvenile hearing, only one male relative attended - an uncle of one of the perps. One of the perps went on to commit another murder after he was released.

The good thing is that DC is controlled by the Federal Government so a simple law can deliver the feral juvenile delinquents to Judge Jeannine. Heh.
This is an old country wide problem exacerbated by the George Floyd riots and celebrations for this Porn star and Fentanyl trafficker.
Much earlier I was suckered punched unaware of the accumulated hatred behind the fist in Washington Square New York and melrose Place Los Angeles. I was left stunned flat on my back barely able to breathe.
As for the D.C. Metropolitan Police my one experience with then left me thinking they are evil. ‘Twas the first W Bush inauguration and the DC police was in charge of checking bags and purses before one could sit in the bleachers in Pennsylvania Ave. They checked pursues slow as sloths and you could see the enjoyment in their faces. We made it through at minute before the caravan passed by, but many, many Republicans were left in line and the bleachers were half empty. These were not good people. All the DC Policemen and Policewomen, to the last one, happened to be Black.

I was on a class trip with fellow aerospace students to the National Air and Space Museum in D.C. in '76. We felt safe walking the streets at night from our hotel to neighboring restaurants and shops. The only criminal incident we encountered was when a female student stopped to use a public restroom. She hung her purse on the back of the stall door. While sitting on the throne, what appeared to be a dark skinned woman's arm reached over the top of the door and snatched the student's purse. The thief was gone in an instant. The purse was later found in a nearby trash can minus all of the money that was in the student's wallet. I now live in a suburb of Nashville, TN. Nashville has been run by Democrats for many decades. IMO, the last police chief who was effective in reducing crime in Metro retired in '89. Crime is running rampant now with a shooting almost every night and gangs apparently running rampant. The police do not seem to be able to effectively combat crime in the area. One officer I spoke with a few years back said that Metro needed to hire at least 500 more officers in order to have an effective force able to address the increase in crime in Nashville. Nashville is not a safe place to be on the streets at night. But that doesn't seem to deter people from home and abroad from visiting downtown at night in order to absorb the country music scene. Unfortunately, country music ain't country anymore. But I digress.
