On Monday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threw down the gauntlet, sort of. He warned that “rogue state actors” who don’t cooperate with ICE and federal immigration officials may have to clean up the mess they created. "The USDOT will not fund rogue state actors who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, and to cities that stand by while rioters destroy transportation infrastructure — don’t expect a red cent from DOT, either.” "Follow the law or forfeit the funding." I want to believe Duffy—I really do—but this is one of those cases where I’ll have to see the declaration carried through before I believe it. There are far too many cases

Trump has clearly shown that he is willing to withhold funding from places that violate US policy and law. We should aggresively continue that. Duffy's statement seems to say that we will.

About the only thing that Donald Trump could do in the next three years that would make me very angry would be to send money to Los Angeles. Those people need to live in their ashes and garbage for a long time.

A lot of taxpayer money leaves the DOT for the states: airport grants to expand runways, etc. Money from the Federal Highway Administration to states to expand highways, etc. And DOJ sends a lot of money (grants) to various police departments under the COPS program.

I'm with President Trump and Sec. Duffy. However, the government needs to work through and fix the present Judicial Tyranny. It seems that every time President Trump cuts funding, the Leftists run -within days, if not hours- to one of their many (there's what, 670 of 'em) Unelected Leftist Judges, who overstep their authority and issue a Nationwide Injunction to OVERRULE THE PRESIDENT and restore the funding. "No Kings!" indeed! We've got HUNDREDS of 'em! What 'checks and balances' are there on this runaway Judiciary, other than the extremely slow and awkward process of impeachment and removal from office?

I like what No. 4 said. These radical left judges are the ones who consider themselves kings and want to rule this country from the bench.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I didn’t realize that it’s been over a month since I shared some of the craziness of progressive Christianity with y’all. It’s not for lack of good material, that’s for sure. And here are three examples of the wildly heretical nature of people who play fast and loose with doctrine. Let’s head over to Lafayette, Ark., where Clint Schnekloth pastors Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. It’s an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), so you know he’s going to have some nutty things to say. By the way, this shows up at the bottom of the church’s website: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church acknowledges that Indigenous peoples were

On the 10th anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges (federally mandating “marriage equality”), it’s proper to ask whether same-sex marriage is a good idea. One reason to think that it’s not is the existence of an epistemic oddity, an oddity which strongly undermines any argument for same-sex marriage (hereafter “SSM”). The oddity in question is characterized by what may be called an "underdetermination asymmetry." Start with the following very simple observation. There are two ultimate positions in the SSM debate, and only two. On the one hand, there’s love or care as the basis of marriage, as in the view of SSM’s

In attacking numerous military targets in Iran on June 13, 2025 as part of its Operation Rising Lion, Israel made good on a 1981 policy announced by then Prime Minister Menachem Begin: ‘We shall defend our people with all the means at our disposal. We will not allow any enemy to obtain weapons of mass destruction that can be turned against us.’ While we hear international criticism of Israel for the attack, long forgotten is that Tehran’s mullahs actually recognized this same need a year before the Israelis announced their doctrine. By 1976, Saddam Hussein had become the de facto leader of Iraq, officially becoming president in 1979.

In the latest twist of remaking Western civilization history, Jorge Pisa Sanchez wrote in National Geographic’s History magazine that “environmental disasters and devastating epidemics triggered the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the late fifth century.” So “plagues and climate change” were the culprits for the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The source of this new twist is Kyle Harper, a classics professor at the University of Oklahoma. In 2017, he [offered] “an ambitious synthesis on the causes of the empire’s decline.” He argued that “the fate of Rome was played out by emperors and barbarians, senators and generals, soldiers, and slaves.
Trump Wins National Guard Case 1 reply

President Trump called up a modest number of California National Guardsmen to protect federal property and personnel during the Los Angeles riots. Governor Gavin Newsom brought a lawsuit alleging that Trump’s action was illegal. That case was initially heard by a Democratic Party judge in San Francisco, Charles Breyer, who ruled in Newsom’s favor and granted a temporary restraining order against Trump. The administration promptly appealed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which granted an administrative stay, maintaining the status quo (i.e., the Guard remained deployed) pending a hearing. Yesterday, following oral argument and extensive briefing, a three-judge panel of the 9th

Colorado likes to brand itself as the “gold standard” of elections and democracy. But scratch the surface, and you’ll find something rotten. The same state that tried to bar President Trump from the 2024 ballot—only to be rebuked unanimously by the Supreme Court—is now under scrutiny for far more than election antics. Colorado has become ground zero for judicial tyranny, a place where whistleblowers are crushed, innocent men are financially destroyed, and courtrooms operate more like cartel headquarters than halls of justice. The case of Tina Peters, the Mesa County clerk-turned-election integrity advocate, is finally drawing attention from the Department of Justice.

Green Energy: Terrible For the Environment 12 replies

Green energy is a disaster in several ways: it is inherently unreliable and ridiculously expensive. Some people naively assume, however, that wind and solar energy make up for these liabilities by being good for the environment. They couldn’t be more wrong. The basic problem with wind turbines and solar panels (plus hypothetical batteries) is that they are extremely low-intensity. Do they work? Intermittently, yes. But compared with conventional energy sources, they produce a very small amount of energy on a per-unit of input basis. Thus, they require both enormous amounts of land and vast quantities of raw materials. Thus, to supply America’s electricity with wind turbines would require

Washington — Former President Joe Biden will be in Galveston, Texas, on Thursday to join a Juneteenth Celebration Service at a historic African Methodist Episcopal Church. The event will be held at the Reedy Chapel AME Church, one of the locations where an order announcing the end of slavery in Texas was read on June 19, 1865, two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, according to the church. In 2021, Biden signed into law a measure that made June 19, or Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. Called the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act

And after all the intervening years, when she was Obama’s Secretary of State (a pity appointment because she lost the election to him – better to keep her inside the tent),

For political junkies who cut their teeth on “60 Minutes,” “Meet the Press,” CNN, and Fox News, longform podcasts were a godsend. Finally freed of commercial restraints and surface-level superficialities, longform podcasts took you beyond the talking points, treating audiences to a deep dive of a topic’s intricacies. Even when the podcast host had limited knowledge of the subject matter (Joe Rogan, I’m looking at you), the benefit of the longform platform was that it facilitated an open-ended, free-floating conversation where both sides learned more about the other. But there was an important catch: It only worked when both sides were acting in good faith.

Israel's remarkable early success in its campaign against Iran has clearly won over President Trump, who has now taken to using the term “we” when discussing the operation. This has increased the debate over whether — and to what extent — the U.S. should join the effort. In under a week, Israel has achieved complete air supremacy, allowing its pilots to hit targets in Iran without fear of harassment. Though the conflict has taken a toll (Iran’s indiscriminate ballistic missile attacks have killed dozens of Israelis and injured hundreds more), the Iranian counterstrikes have not destroyed any significant strategic targets.

Wowza. It's no surprise that Israel has destroyed Iran's Arak nuclear reactor. After all, it was a key element of Iran's program to build nuclear weaponry, and a very vulnerable target. The only strategic reason not to attack it was the fact that it could have contained highly radioactive material, and Israel had to balance the benefit of denying its use to Iran against the consequences of releasing dangerous and long-lived radioactive material if the supposedly inactive reactor held fissionable material.
