The Trump Administration Is Right to Re-Redesignate
the Army Bases

In politics and government, “clever” is not always synonymous with “good.” But when it comes to the matter of the Trump administration’s handling of military bases that had been renamed during the Biden era, the policy is both clever and satisfactory. Back in the summer of 2023, on the recommendation of a congressionally mandated commission, the Biden Department of Defense renamed nine major military bases that had originally been named for Confederate military leaders: Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Gordon, Ga.; Fort A.P. Hill, Va.; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Lee, Va.; Fort Pickett, Va.; Fort Polk, La.; and Fort Rucker, Ala.

I called the re-named Fort Bragg "Fort Liberty-Biberty" after the insurance commercials. When serving at Fort Bragg in the 1970s, I thought that naming the place after the Confederate general was also an embarrassment - even if he was a Tar Heel. However, I liked Fort Cavazos for Fort Hood. Gen. Cavazos is a worthy person to be so honored, but the new nickname for the post - "Fort Cav" - could not be more perfect. Can we keep it?

I'd like to see one named for General Longstreet. He was a Confederate general but after the yankees won he became a Republican and was held in low regard by Southerners. My favorite is Confederate General John Bell Gordon. A county in GA is named for him and I-75 has a rest stop in it. And my kidneys are calibrated to make use of it.

Named for Confederate generals to help unity. My only caveat is Bragg. Not one of the South's best. General Johnston said ""I know Mr. Davis thinks he can do a great many things other men would hesitate to attempt. For instance, he tried to do what God failed to do. He tried to make a soldier of Braxton Bragg, and you know the result." Johnston and Davis reportedly had a fight at West Point over a girl. Johnston apparently won and Davis carried a grudge during the war to the detriment of the South's effectiveness.

I dont like it. Its just more phoney baloney political silliness. If the place was named after a Confederate, it should still be named after the same Confederate. Switching it to the janitor with the same name is just a stunt, more worthy of a junior high kid than a world leader.

Thank goodness for common sense! I was stationed at Fort Benning, Fort Rucker and Fort Hood during my time in the Army. I never acknowledged the new names by the Woke crowd. During the Vietnam War it was a sight to see all the Hueys lined up in trail formation landing at Lowe Field (Ft Rucker) at the end of a training day.

As I posted some years ago when this subject was on the news, but don't think many readers like it then and won't like it now. Suppose we sent all the blacks in the US back to Africa; can we then say slavery never existed in this country. People, the past is past and should be left alone so that future generations learn from the mistakes made during that time.

Strictly on the merits, a fort should have been named after Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, the most skilled General of the Confederacy. During Forrest's command, he committed not one strategic or tactical mistake on the battlefield. Sadly, his legacy was destroyed by the stain of his early affiliation with the post-war, Ku Klux Klan.

President Donald Trump put a plan he had into place for a long time on Wednesday: flagpoles on the North and South Lawn of the White House. They're going to cost about $100,000 total, he said. He's paying for it as a gift to the country. Trump said he's always wondered why the White House didn't have "a flagpole from the grass." Trump came out to greet the workers. One of the workers thanked him for "bringing America back again." Trump spoke about the project and joked about how they were going to have a "lifting" or another word starting with an "E." He joked that

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a Tennessee law restricting gender transition care for minors, delivering a major blow to transgender rights. The 6-3 ruling is likely to have a broad impact as 24 other states have already enacted laws similar to the one in Tennessee, which bars gender transition surgery, puberty blockers and hormone therapy for youth. The court was divided on ideological lines, with the six conservatives in the majority and the three liberals in dissent. Those laws now look set to survive similar legal challenges. The ruling does not affect states that do not have such bans

Border Patrol agents didn’t release a single migrant into the US last month — a staggering drop after the Biden administration allowed 62,000 illegal crossers in the country in May 2024, The Post can exclusively reveal. Agents caught 8,725 migrants crossing illegally at the southern border last month. That’s a 93% decrease from May 2024, when 117,905 were nabbed, according to internal data obtained by The Post. And acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Pete Flores said it’s a result of the Trump administration’s tough border policies. One of the most monumental policy changes made by Trump was the reversal of President Joe Biden’s catch-and-release scheme, which resulted in millions

If you don’t follow the press, you are uninformed, goes the old saw; if you do follow the press, you are misinformed. Nowadays you can actually be, you know, informed if you carefully follow the alternative press and social media. It’s a major reason why the organized left, the Democrats and the traditional media — but I repeat myself — have less traction today than they used to. My 2006 book “An Army of Davids” explored how citizen journalists revolutionized reporting on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and frustrated Dan Rather’s attempt to steal the 2004 election with forged records about George W. As President Donald Trump huddled with his top advisers in the White House Situation Room on Tuesday, U.S. officials signaled that the next 24 to 48 hours would be critical in determining whether a diplomatic solution with Iran is possible -- or if the president might resort to military action instead. Trump significantly ramped up his rhetoric against the Iranian regime ahead of the meeting, asserting that the U.S. knew exactly where Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was hiding. "He is an easy target, but is safe there -- We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don't want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers.

The next flashpoint in President Donald Trump’s battle to reshape the federal judiciary is coming — and it’s dividing the right. Trump recently appeared to declare war on the Federalist Society, the powerful conservative legal advocacy organization that played an essential role in his election both in 2016 and 2024. After one of his first-term appointees ruled against him in a major challenge to his tariffs, Trump launched a public tirade against the former chair of the group, Leonard Leo, who Trump described as a “sleazebag” who “probably hates America” before blaming the group for “bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations.”

Since the Mullahs seized power in Tehran in 1979, the U.S. has been playing for a tie in Iran. Now, it is time for President Trump to play for a win. For forty-six years, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his predecessors have been waging a war against the U.S. and our allies in the Middle East. “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” have not been just slogans but decades-long causes. Iran’s war against Washington has at times been overt, as when the regime sanctioned Iranian students storming the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979. For 444 days, fifty-two Americans were held hostage. Basiuk spoke as speculation mounted about a possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran, as President Donald Trump left the G7 meeting in Canada early, and as Iran reportedly asked mediators to find an end to the war. The general’s response suggests that Israel will not leave its security up for negotiation any longer. Missile barrages have disrupted life in Israel, and highlighted the potential dangers of nuclear-armed warheads.

It was a deliberate effort to wipe damning evidence from existence. The FBI didn’t just bury credible intelligence about Chinese election interference; it tried to scrub it from history.

Carbon dioxide, we’ve been told over and again, is the enemy that must be subdued if we are to avoid catastrophic global warming. It is, however, a faulty premise. Israel needs a 15-ton ‘bunker buster’ bomb to destroy the last untouched nuclear facility in Iran, but only the US has one. Such a powerful weapon – the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal – is needed because the target, Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, is built some 300 feet inside a mountain near the city of Qom, two hours south of Tehran. The heavyweight explosive is known as a GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator and was designed by Boeing for the United States Air Force. Its huge weight means it can only be delivered with a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber – a jet Israel’s air force does not possess.

FBI Director Kash Patel dropped a bombshell Monday evening, handing Congress an intelligence report that raises serious questions about China’s role in the 2020 election. According to the report, Chinese operatives mass-produced counterfeit U.S. driver’s licenses as part of a broader scheme to flood the system with fake mail-in ballots—benefiting… you guessed it… Joe Biden. This wasn’t just foreign meddling—it was industrial-scale fraud, enabled by a broken mail-in voting system the Democrats have long been exploiting. The report confirms what many of us suspected all along: the integrity of the 2020 election wasn’t just compromised—it was hijacked.
