Trump is not a fascist . . . but . . .

Original Article

At the outset, let me state my bona fides. I voted for Trump three times. I publicly supported his candidacy back when the media deemed him and his supporters like me stupid racists. That was back when “Trump is literally Hitler” was the meme of the moment amongst the kind of people who don’t know the meaning of Hitler and don’t know the meaning of “literally.” Which is to say, most of the current mainstream media. For the record, Trump is not Hitler, not literally or metaphorically, nor is he a fascist. Contrary to popular belief engendered by the lamestream media, the word “fascist” does not mean “Republican.”

I used to appreciate Glenn Beaton's opinions on just about EVERY topic he commented on in Aspenbeat, but alas, he's gone off the rails in assessing Trump's motives and tactics.

Nos. 1 and 2: Beaton is "off the rails" and suffering from hypoxia is not much of a rebuttal to the argument that Donald Trump has authoritarian instincts.

Like Beaton, I voted for Trump thrice. Unlike him I accepted his warts as of lesser importance than his superb qualities. I too wish he would lay off the insults directed towards people who regard them as badges of honor, but that will never happen. Old dogs rarely learn new tricks but Trump’s bag of ticks generally serve him, and us, very well.

A president that has been shot, had two assassination attempts, been impeached twice both on totally fabricated charges, sued, put on trial, had his house raided by the FBI and slandered beyond compare and yet has the brains, resilience and pluck to win the Presidency a third time (that's right you know d#mn well he won in 2020 ) should be canonized not vilified...Beaton is not off the tracks he is off the earth.

Isn't it funny funny that Glenn doesn't mention that the judiciary in this country has been weaponized and are overstepping their bounds, infringing on the POTUS's constitutional authority, not does he, thus, offer any other practical remedies. This is the "just accept it, and for heaven's sake, don't make a scene or say anything" mentality of the establishment GOP, which is a large part of the reason we have these issues now! No thank you.

I like Beaton, so will overlook this little rant. It's his opinion, and he's entitled to it, as I am to mine. I like Trump and I don't blame him for name calling and railing against his distractors/enemies. If I was treated the way he's been treated, some people would be missing teeth or worse. It actually makes him human and identifiable to the common man.

Oh, boo freakin' hoo. So Trump doesn't tolerate dissent well... and that's a fascist trait? It's also a trait of a whole lot of historical figures who were not fascists... Obie-wan Obama didn't like dissenting views, and he particularly didn't like Maureen Dowd making fun of his ears. I guess that means Obie-wan was a fascist, too. So who you gonna vote for, Glen? I think some of the other commenters are right, Glen: You've spent too much time living in hypoxia. You should schedule some sessions in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. It might do wonders for the quality of your writing.. which has been wholly unimpressive of late.

Mr. Beaton leaves out one very important tenet of fascism. It is government working hand in hand with corporations to create an authoritarian state. It is a step on the road to communism, as the corporations slowly (or quickly) get absorbed into the government. And, #5, I so agree with you. What I wouldn’t give for a thumbs down or laughing emoji, at times.

Really, glenn seems to have forgotten the points laid out by #6. So, please don't use "nazi" with regard to Trump or "bully"- both terms mean nothing in this context. The judiciary no longer deserves the deference that was once accorded it. Once the deep state and party in power arrogated governmental power for their own purposes - russia hoax, 34 felony counts for one alleged misdemeanor accounting error barred by limitations scam, $500 million fine for repaying real estate loans scam, the "biden is fit as a fiddle" hoax, the NGO frauds, etc etc etc - the institutions complicit in perpetrating the hoaxes and frauds have to earn back respect and deference.

Trump is the poster child for the exceptional man. He creates his own values. He never apologizes. He never experiences guilt or shame. These are the Achilles heels that weak, sickly, ordinary men use to taunt and annoy exceptional men. They have only one emotion that rules their thinking. Resentment. They resent the exceptional man with exceptional wealth and power who rejects their morality, guilt-tripping, and shaming. Trump will succeed or fail based on his own will and his fate in history. The ordinary men are like sheep. Extraordinary men are sheepdogs. They sense the dangers and risks of the wolves sheep can't see until they are eaten. The sheep hate the sheepdog. They think he is too violent, too aggressive. The sheepdog does his thing, oblivious to the sheep. Ever vigilant for the next wolf. The sheep are too stupid and naive to realize how much they depend on the sheepdogs of the world.

The meaning of words change. At one time the word "gay" was an adjective meaning happy or something like that. Now it means a person with a life style which used to be criminal. I was taught that fascism was a form of government in which the means of production were privately owned but regulated by the government. I've voted for President Trump 6 times (3 primaries and 3 general elections). He ain't perfect but he is the pick of the litter. As for apologies I like John Wayne's quote: Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness.

Perhaps Glenn has developed a bit of "hostage" mentality living behind enemy lines in Aspen. It appears he's happiest when he can tweak the sensibilities of whoever happens to be in charge; whether it is the libs of Colorado or the greatest president of our time. He holds himself up as the arbitrator of what is politically acceptable behavior. His observations are becoming stale and repetitive. Side Bar - Emojis: I support the Ldot ban. I cannot stand the stupid things. They are juvenile. I haven't seen "pictures" in text since the word games in the old "Highlights" magazine from grade school.

So Trump doesn't suffer fools; in my view that's no fault. But I think the writer was simply pointing out that it is a disadvantage. I would say that Trump needs to appeal to the American people as Reagan did. But he does. He relies on Social Media for this. That's good and bad: good because it creates a permanent record that can be referred back to in refuting media claims, but bad because Social Media has broken into insular ideological factions fed according to their own prejudices.

Trump is Trump, thank God. As others have said, he got elected three times and has been through Hell. But, the man has changed since the assassination attempts. He has softened somewhat. But he also knows, he's not only got a short time to radically save this country, but at this point, tragic to say, is possibly living on borrowed time to do the impossible. So he insults people. Big friggin' deal. He gets his message across. Short, sweet and to the point. He doesn't waste time on political niceties; nope he goes right to the chase with a two by four and that's what we all love about him. God bless him always.

Harvard deserves punishment. For years, they boasted in their published materials that they had a policy to favor certain ethnic groups. Accordingly, they favored a Native American with the improbable name of Elizabeth Warren to fill a law professor position. When called out for their discrimination, they said that – in violation of their stated policy – they had not favored her. Comically, it turned out Warren wasn’t Native American anyway. And so, in her case, Harvard failed at racial discrimination despite their best efforts. Usually, however, they’ve succeeded.

First, my sympathies for the Biden family. I’ve been there. Now, here’s my puzzlement. Prostate cancer is notoriously slow-growing. Although prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths among men (second to only lung cancer), that’s not because it’s so deadly, but because it’s so common. It’s a fact that more men die with prostate cancer than of it. Of those who die, the typical mechanism of death is by the cancer cells metastasizing to other organs and/or to the bones. It takes years for that to happen – typically something like 5-10 years even without treatment, and even longer with treatment.

He posted on Instagram a photo of shells on the beach arranged in the numbers “86 47,” the last two numbers being a little separate and bigger than the first two so as to differentiate them. His accompanying comment was: “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.” In case you were born yesterday, the number “86” is slang for terminating a person or thing. If a gangster talks about “86’ing” you, you’re toast. The number “47” of course corresponds to President Trump as the 47th President.

Why do Catholics still worship an old king in a palace? I understand why they did in the old days. Everybody did. (Well, except Christ didn’t.) There was Henry VIII, Louis XIV, Charlemagne and, in folklore, King Arthur. There were also king-like rulers called emperors, such as Julius Caesar, Peter the Great, and Napoleon Bonaparte. It was way back in the olden days that Catholics set up the papacy, their kingship. Their first Pope was said to be the Apostle named Peter, who used to be called Simon.

I was therefore surprised and disappointed to see the Journal’s coverage of a recent interview that President Trump gave to NBC News. Trump was asked about the due process protections he should afford illegal aliens being deported.

Judges lately often exhibit acute cases of TDS. One in Milwaukee was preparing to preside over the trial of an illegal who’d been charged with domestic abuse. In layman’s language, that’s wife beating. Federal agents showed up outside the judge’s courtroom with a warrant to arrest the man, presumably to deport him. The judge stalled the agents for a bit by sending them down the hall, then returned to the courtroom. While the agents were away, she spirited the wife-beating illegal out the side door.
