There have been numerous predictions of a looming Second American Civil War. It should be noted, however, that regardless of the ideological chasm dividing America, modernity (economics, goods, services, and infrastructure) binds the factions tightly together. In 2023, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States was worth 27,360, 94 million U.S. dollars, according to data from the World Bank.
The factions are accustomed to nearly on-demand access to goods and services. Both factions utilize a thoroughly integrated, embedded delivery infrastructure for both. Just how integrated? Freight, facts and figures from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts it in context.

When I wrote on Judge Juan Merchan's ruling regarding the presidential immunity issue in relation to the Manhattan criminal trial against President-elect Donald Trump over falsified business records, I began with: "We knew the ruling would be coming at some point."
In similar fashion, I can add: We knew the response from Trump would be swift — and likely sharp. And so it is. The president-elect took to Truth Social Tuesday morning to let his thoughts on the ruling be known, and zero punches were pulled: (Snip) Safe to say Trump will be appealing Merchan's ruling — and neither will be receiving a Christmas card from the other.

Like a lot of guys my age (63) I'm carrying a little extra, shall we say, baggage. My old Army uniforms have mysteriously shrunk to the point where I can't get into them anymore. But I do keep an eye on that, and my weight has been trending downwards, gradually; I'm active, but as I get older, I find my appetite isn't what it once was, and despite the few extra pounds I still manage to maintain a rural Alaska homestead with all the rigors that entails - not to mention spending the odd fall day hiking into the spruce woods looking for grouse and hares.

TAMPA, Fla. — Members of the Uhuru movement avoided prison time Monday instead of getting sentenced for their role in the worldwide conspiracy to disseminate Russian propaganda and spread discord in the U.S.
Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel each received three years of probation and 300 hours of community service.
A federal judge also ordered the three have no contact with Russian nationals or organizations.
According to the Department of Justice, from May 2015 to July 2022, the Uhuru members acted on behalf of the Russian government within the U.S.
In 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the Uhuru house in St. Petersburg. They also raided several other properties

One of Vladimir Putin's top army generals in charge of nuclear and biological forces has been killed in an explosion after a bomb hidden in an electric scooter was detonated outside his apartment in Moscow.
Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov died in the blast moments after he emerged from his apartment block with his assistant, who was also killed.
He is believed to be the most senior military officer to be assassinated since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The bombing - claimed by a member of Ukraine's SBU security service - came a day after Kyiv had accused Kirillov of overseeing the widespread use of banned chemical weapons

The Washington Free Beacon recently reported that the Biden administration’s stunningly unjust Department of Justice “quietly weighed in on litigation pending before the Supreme Court this week, siding with liberal cities and states that are seeking to force the nation's largest oil companies to pay billions of dollars in damages for global warming.”
Biden’s Solicitor General, Elizabeth Prelogar, is pushing the Supreme Court to give its imprimatur to the notion that states can make laws mandating that oil companies pay “the costs of global climate change.” Prelogar is also urging SCOTUS to “allow Democratic states to pursue their individual lawsuits against the various companies.”

Judge Juan Merchan on Monday rejected a request from Trump’s attorneys to dismiss charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, citing claims of presidential immunity, Fox News reports.
The decision follows a July motion by Trump and his legal team asking Merchan to overturn his guilty verdict in New York v. Trump. They argued that the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity for official acts should apply.
However, Merchan ruled that the trial evidence pertained "entirely to unofficial conduct and, thus, receive no immunity protections."
"Further, even if this Court were to deem all of the contested evidence,

President-elect Donald Trump is taking a media break from being called a fascist or Nazi to the latest criticism of filling his cabinet positions with those not deemed to be “experts” by the self-proclaimed “expert class” of government.
Who defines “expert”? Simple: those deemed experts by the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, or administrative class embeds. In other words, it is a circle-jerk of self-professed experts insisting they are the only true experts. Confirmation bias anyone?
Reuters bemoans Trump’s approach of going outside the “expert class”, who have gotten so much wrong over the years, instead favoring those with practical experience. “U.S. President-elect Donald Trump chose loyalists

Well, this is interesting. Justin Trudeau is reportedly considering resigning as Prime Minister of Canada, according to sources cited by CTV News. This development comes on the heels of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s announcement that she plans to step down from cabinet, as PJ Media's Chris Queen reported earlier on Monday.
"In an explosive resignation letter published Monday morning, Freeland ignited a storm of confusion and speculation on Parliament Hill the same day she was set to table her fall economic statement—a document that typically includes key economic metrics such as the size of Canada's deficit," CTV reported. "Leaders from the Conservative party and the Bloc Quebecois have demanded an election.

The ERA was once the great white hope of feminists. Now the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is the great hope of those who want to eliminate the ladies’ room, women’s sports, and women.
A coalition of more than 100 lawmakers wrote a letter on Sunday urging President Biden to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which would outlaw gender discrimination in the Constitution.
“We must continue our efforts to fully affirm and recognize the equality of rights for all people, regardless of sex, as part of our Constitution, a vital effort that has never been more urgent,” Congress members penned.
“People”. Not women. Which people do they mean? Men in dresses.

There’s been a lot of buzz this week about the appearance of SUV-sized drones over the Atlantic Coast states, particularly New Jersey. They exhibit some characteristics not previously observed, and speculation is rampant. The most commonly voiced of these is that they were launched by Iran from a ship parked off our coast, but that doesn’t seem true. I’m inclined to accept the speculation of Scott Adams, Dilbert’s creator and a man who has spent a great deal of time exploring psychological tools of persuasion:

NEW YORK — ABC News has agreed to pay $15 million toward Donald Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos' inaccurate on-air assertion that the president-elect had been found civilly liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll. As part of the settlement made public Saturday, ABC News posted an editor's note to its website expressing regret over Stephanopoulos' statements during a March 10 segment on his “This Week” program. The network will also pay $1 million in legal fees to the law firm of Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito. The settlement agreement describes ABC's presidential library payment as a “charitable contribution," with the money
