White House: Our Attempts at Keeping
Iran from Getting Nukes Through Diplomacy
‘Didn’t Work’

Original Article

Posted By: sagman, 12/15/2024 8:32:42 AM

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby stated that Iran will not be allowed to get a nuclear weapons capability, and “We had tried to do this through diplomacy. Obviously, that didn’t work, because the Iranians were not willing to negotiate in good faith.”

Comments:

This is very scary. Why say this now? It suggests to me that Biden will authorize an attack on Iran's nuke facilities before he leaves office, to show he's tough, to go out in a blaze of glory. Why is this scary? The aftermath of such an attack would almost certainly cause Iran to activate the hundreds or thousands of sleeper agents in the U. S. Deaths, chaos, martial law (?) right before the inauguration. Is that the plan? And the drones now? (Yes, I have my tinfoil hat on.)

They are just telling us what we have known for four years. That Iran is still trying to get a Nuke. In the meantime we have been sending them the money to do it. Why is it that I suspect Obama and Valjar have a hand in passing out those funds.

Duhhh. These Shia Islamists are dedicated to the death of Jews, Israel, and EVERYONE not of their brand of Islam and relish the idea of dying themselves for their faith. That is their highest 'value' NOT peace. We cannot foolishly afford the myth that its possible to negotiate with them since LYING to accomplish their religious goal is religiously acceptable. W Bush was a tool to have called Islam a 'religion of peace'. But this White House admission is an attempt to cover their butts because it is clear that Obama wanted the same Islamic goals and Biden was merely his puppet.

Only the small group of former Obama admin folks thought this was a good idea in the first place. They did manage to ensure Iran had access to BILLIONS of dollars to help push their agenda and likely fund the anti-Israel attacks in recent years. Looks like it also helped prop up the Assad regime in Syria too. I would not doubt that many of those who helped free up those billions also received a little something in an off-shore account as a "thank you".

Over the years, I have had business dealings or negotiations with only three Iranians here in the USA. Two were on my side, one on the other side. I soon learned that none of the three was honest or ever intended to keep any contractual promise. Anyone who thinks it is possible--let alone productive--to negotiate with a Persian is doomed to failure.

What kind of an imbecile believes that the insane Islamic theocracy in Iran has any thing to do with good faith? They are torturers and terrorists. They are evil. Failure to recognize this makes them increasingly dangerous to decent people everywhere. You don't negotiate with evil people who want you enslaved or dead. You annihilate them. During World War II, there were decent Democrats who understood this. I don't believe anyone in the Democrat party understands it now.

I disagree with the original poster. It won't be the US that attacks Iran. It will be Israel. The US gains nothing by flexing there, but Israel ups its rep immediately. The Saudis will be happy to have the shias taken down a peg. Israel has already cleared Syrian airspace, and Iraq would be happy to be let Israeli jets traverse Iraqi airspace to attack their greatest shia headache. BOOM go Iranian nuclear capabilities.

#18, I think the same. But it’s up to us. God knows all including the intentions of every heart and the number of hairs on every head. I’m praying that He will have mercy on US and hear the prayers of everyone who beseeches Him to bless & guide PDJT and all who stand with him, and for good to prevail against this evil. Hopefully, we have all awakened to the fact that we need Him, and can’t succeed without His blessings. May He thwart every weapon forged against us. Isaiah 54:17 - “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Proverbs 19:21 - “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Romans 8:31 - “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Pray. To God be the glory.

# 32 makes a fair point, but it may be a mistake to ascribe logic to the mullings of Biden on this subject. He is being roasted by everybody as his term ends and he is mad as hell and doesn't care what anybody thinks of him anymore. Why is it inconceivable that he would put aside the risks of attacking Iran and order it out of spite, and frustration, the possibility of some sort of redemption for being taken in (maybe) by the mullahs? "Hey, why should Israel get credit for putting the hammer down on that regime?" His brain may be mush but he knows he's being ridiculed. "Joe Biden weak, huh? Well, laugh now."

Of course, Ron DeSantis can come back and win. Anybody in the race can win – we saw Trump come back in 2016 when most everyone wrote him off in the general. Now it’s the Florida governor’s turn to be written off, but he’s not exactly in the same place that Trump was. DeSantis is a strong second right now. For him, it’s not a matter of a miracle happening, threading a bunch of needles to win the general when rational betters would bet against you like in 2016. No, Ron DeSantis has a plan, and there’s a method to his muddling through.

His answer was a glimmer that the Ron DeSantis we’ve been waiting to show up on the campaign trail is still there. Is he finally waking up? The question now is whether or not it is too late to make a difference. DeSantis pointed out what many Republican voters think – the way Trump speaks is not presidential. Faced with a historically unpopular president overseeing a weak economy and promoting left-wing “Bidenomics,” Republicans have a golden opportunity in 2024. The election couldn’t be more winnable. And the only thing that should matter for Republicans is actually winning it. While there is a sense that Donald Trump has become a frontrunner in the Republican primaries, there is just as much of a sense that he can’t win a general election—not anymore. Here's the hard truth: If Trump secures the Republican nomination, Joe Biden will be re-elected. But, if Ron DeSantis becomes the nominee, then the Democrats have little to no chance.

The supporters of former President Trump are absolutely correct about one thing. If every single Republican pledged their allegiance to him and fell in line he’d win the nomination easily. But he’d also lose the general election, again. He does not receive enough support from outside the traditional Republican and MAGA base to win in 2024. Hillary Clinton beat Trump by roughly 3 million in the popular vote in 2016. While Trump indeed did win the election by taking the required 270 electoral votes, just a few thousand votes in each of the key swing states would have changed that outcome into a Hillary Clinton landslide victory in 2016.

When Trump burst on the political scene, his smashmouth style was, shall we say, off-putting. Dan Bongino, also from Queens, told us this was just the normal style of speech in that area. And many of us voted for the Donald, knowing that the alternative was simply intolerable. We weren’t sure what he would do, but his opponent was guaranteed to do bad things. For four years, in the face of relentless false attacks, Donald Trump got things done. Lots of things. But he didn’t drain the swamp.

The Bible holds that “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise…” (Proverbs 17:28.) In the modern era, with attribution to Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, or others, that’s been reworked as “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.” Former Attorney General Bill Barr’s latest embittered statements about the documents the FBI stole from Mar-a-Lago place him squarely within that quotation. In the government, where it’s almost impossible to get fired, those who stick around long enough become respected, even revered. That’s especially true for attorneys who work in the Department of Justice.

he cancer of early voting tightened its deadly grip on the American body politic in last week’s midterm elections. This is yet another destructive outcome of Nov. 8. The mad rush toward early voting accelerated thanks to another disease: COVID-19. Like so many things wrong in America today, COVID lurks just beneath the surface. Because voting in person was “too dangerous,” opportunistic Democrat lawyers sued like ambulance chasers in 2020 to widen and deepen early voting beyond its earlier, lower profile. This year, with COVID in the rear-view mirror, 2020’s “emergency” measure has become the new normal. The Democrats’ ever-leftward ratchet mechanism always works this way.

An underlying realization that the Democratic party’s politburo — Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, Jeffries, and their courtiers of elected official and consultant sycophants — sold voters a bill of goods: the gaslighting of the public on President Biden’s decrepitude; the false idol of the Kamala Harris “campaign of joy” as a smart last-minute stand-in; and the repeated cowering to the far left whose wokeness and moral condescension turns off most voters. In a just world, one might expect a formal no-confidence vote on this leadership failure.

President-elect Donald J. Trump will be sentenced on January 10, but there will be no jail time, not that was ever a concern. The laws and statutes got so contorted that even CNN’s Elie Honig, the network's chief legal analyst and former assistant US attorney, couldn’t defend it, aptly calling it a total disaster of a case. In essence, Trump only got convicted because Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his team perverted the rule of law. Law professor Jonathan Turley nailed why Judge Juan Merchan wants to get this wrapped on January 10. It’s to give the liberal media the talking point they’ve salivated over for months:

In recent weeks, a mysterious fog with a distinct chemical odor has enveloped multiple U.S. states, causing health concerns among residents and fueling bioweapon theories, especially following numerous drone sightings in the affected areas. The fog has been observed in various states, including California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Concerned citizens have shared videos and reports on social media. In a viral TikTok video posted last year, David Bamber from St. Petersburg, Florida, wrote the fog “tastes and smells like after setting off a lot of fireworks. That sulfur smell.”

Motorists heading into some of Manhattan’s busiest neighborhoods have begun shelling out a first-in-the-nation $9 congestion toll — a controversial levy critics contend will drive people out of Gotham and devastate the local economy. The scheme officially took effect at midnight on Sunday, meaning drivers entering the city below 60th Street will now have to pay $9 during peak hours — 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends — and $2.25 for off-peak hours. During peak hours, large trucks will pay $21.60, small trucks $14.40 and motorcycles $4.50.

Leftist Washington Post editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit her job after Post opinion editor David Shipley killed a cartoon mocking Post owner Jeff Bezos as part of a pack of supine billionaires holding up sacks of cash and bending the knee to Donald Trump. We noted in 2015 that Telnaes ripped Sen. Ted Cruz by portraying his young daughters at toy monkeys (imagine doing that to a black politician's daughters). In 2020, she continued the animal theme by drawing everyone she thought aided Trump's election denials as "Republican rats." “I’ve worked for the Washington Post since 2008 as an editorial cartoonist,”
