President of Argentina Javier Milei announced Wednesday that his administration is preparing a structural tax reform that will eliminate 90 percent of existing taxes in 2025. Milei announced the plan, alongside other policies he seeks to implement in his second year in office, while marking the end of his first. Among them was a plan to negotiate a trade deal with President-elect Donald Trump’s administration once he takes office in January. Tuesday marked one year since Milei took office on December 10, 2023, and became Argentina’s first libertarian president, succeeding socialist former President Alberto Fernández. President Javier Milei is a patriot and a great man. He's Argentina's Trump. His predecessors proved socialism doesn't work, and Milei has proven free-market capitalism does. God bless him! As the peoples of the world see Argentina's prosperity, and Trump's American economic engine let loose, those people caught in the Marxist trap (looking at you England) will demand the same in their countries. A new day dawns for the peoples of the world...if they get to have free elections and the right leaders.

Sounds great, getting rid of bureaucrats. But where do they go? Is the economy going to create new jobs for them? And what happens to retirees on pensions?

FTA - "The Argentine president ensured that his administration will also eliminate existing currency control measures inherited by his government next year and stated that there would be a “free competition of currencies” which, Milei explained, will allow “all Argentines will be able to use the currency they want in their daily transactions.”" Holy croak, Javier. Like wow. I just don't think us debt-slaves in America could pull this off. You must have a different way to print money then?

US appeals court tosses Nasdaq board diversity rules 7 replies

A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday ruled that Nasdaq could not impose rules designed to increase diversity in corporate America by requiring companies listed on the exchange to have women and minority directors on their boards or explain why they do not. The 9-8 ruling by the conservative-majority New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the rules approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ran afoul of federal securities law. The decision is a significant legal victory for opponents of policies meant to boost racial and gender diversity in corporations.

The Israeli Air Force is continuing its readiness and preparations for potential strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, following the weakening of Tehran’s proxy groups in the Middle East and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, Israeli military officials. The military believes that an isolated Iran may push further with its nuclear program. Due to the dramatic changes in the Middle East, especially the fall of Assad which allowed the IAF to take out the vast majority of Syria’s air defenses, the Israeli military believes there is now an opportunity to strike Iran’s nuclear sites.

The House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump released its final report on Tuesday. The report covers the July 13 wounding of President-elect Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania, and the September 15 assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida. The report paints a picture with which we are sadly familiar. The Secret Service's actions in Butler, in particular, reek of complacency and privilege. Basic principles, like "communication" and "unity of command," were totally absent. The elementary principles of tactical operations — reconnaissance, planning, control, and security — were tossed to the winds. The Task Force found that the tragic and shocking events

President-elect Donald Trump is gaining further recognition from the establishment press for mounting arguably the greatest political comeback in American history. Time Magazine named Trump its Person of the Year for 2024 after he convincingly won the presidential election in November against Vice President Kamala Harris, overcoming multiple assassination attempts and criminal proceedings in the process. “This is someone who made an historic comeback, who reshaped the American presidency and who’s reordering American politics,”

That question really sums up this interesting column by Thomas Edsall. His thesis is that Democrats are in real trouble because the only path out of the current quagmire the party is in would be to moderate. But that's not something the party's increasingly woke base will allow them to do. The whole essence of woke culture is to make every issue one of moral certitude where no political compromise can intrude. Simply put, they don't want to talk about it, they want you to comply or else. He opens by noting some survey results that show voters believed Trump was closer to them politically than Harris.

If reports are true, it looks like the targeted killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York last week was politically motivated. The alleged shooter, Luigi Mangione, a former Ivy Leaguer from an affluent family, was reportedly caught with some kind of manifesto. Even before we knew who the shooter was, however, the reaction from far too many leftists was to either justify, celebrate, or rationalize the shooting. Biden nominated Lauren McFerran to a five-year term on the National Labor Relations Board, which is essentially a federal agency dedicated to protecting big unions, and her confirmation was set to hand Democrats control of the body for the entirety of President-elect Donald Trump's second term. The United Kingdom on Wednesday indefinitely banned puberty-blocking drugs as a treatment for minors with gender dysphoria, except in clinical trials, due to an “unacceptable safety risk.” “Existing emergency measures banning the sale and supply of puberty-suppressing hormones will be made indefinite, following official advice from medical experts,” said the United Kingdom’s Department of Health and Social Care. Puberty blockers prevent the onset of puberty in kids and are often administered as part of a medical gender transition regimen before other sex-suppressing hormone therapy and reconstructive surgery

Climate scientists recently discovered that they’ve been underestimating the impact of a particular organic compound in the atmosphere, and the oversight’s significance is so profound that it’s left existing climate models completely obsolete. As Jo Nova writes, “This is so big, it may change the sacred ‘climate sensitivity’ of the whole Earth”. Isoprene is what’s known as a volatile organic compound, or a VOC, and “has a recognized role in protecting plants against many abiotic stresses” like “heat stress…drought…[and] oxidative stress” with trees being the greatest emitters. (When the chemical isoprene interacts with other compounds in the atmosphere, the products are a number of secondary organic aerosols.)

Yup, she’s hitting the Great White Way (or, maybe, in her case, the Great Black Way) to fulfill a childhood dream: taking a turn in a Broadway musical. Interestingly, the particular musical she’s chosen, “& Juliet,” is a tawdry pro-transgender show. I think we can now guess how Jackson will vote on Tennessee’s “no ‘gender-affirming’ care on minors” law.
