The mysterious drones that have been tormenting New Jersey residents for weeks could be part of a top-secret government program, security experts told The Post Tuesday — as lawmakers push for answers over the troubling sightings.
The feds have been mum about the daily drone activity in Morris, Passaic, Bergen and Hunterdon counties and beyond since the gizmos were first spotted on Nov. 18.
But several experts said the US government might be behind the unsettling flights — which could be part of a super-secret military program meant to test new hardware before it hits the battlefield.

It is unidentified, shoot it down and examine it.

Shooting one down would be valid in Flyover country...I don't know, is the 2nd Amendment even valid in New Jersey?

These "super-secret" (please, Steve) tests usually occur over CA, with flights out of Point Mugu or Plant 42 in Palmdale. Operating over NJ seems odd, although Lakehurst is home to a Naval Air Warfare Center.

It would seem that if this was intended to be secret it would be tested at Area 51, not over a comparatively densely populated area. I think this theory is pretty lame.

If true, once again the people are the unwitting and unwilling guinea pigs. The perpetrators hide behind a veil of secrecy so secret that no one can speak of it. Yet they test it in public? And the drones have lights so we can see they are there? Bring them down! Put the wreckage in bright lights on TV and the internet. Let the amatuer sleuths loose to reverse engineer them and publish what they find. If these things are truly SAP secret devices, we'll find out pretty quickly when the military locks the area down and the people out.

Not startling at all. This nonsense has been going on since the Manhattan project and the many weird sightings around Area 51 in Nevada. Nothing but children attempting to hide their secret toys and lying about them.

No, it makes sense, #2, if they are developing them to study alien life.

Most likely the drones are part of a government program to develop the capability to spy on citizens.

The wholly Incompetent and Corrupt New Jersey Governor could very easily send up a State Police Helicopter, If they cannot shoot one down. I'll be happy to assist. That garbage knows exactly what's going on, he's probably making money off it.

Startling? What else could it be? I would only be startled if they said it was NOT "a top-secret government program".

Heard an interesting comment yesterday.
We know more about the assassin of the UHC CEO in a couple days than we know about either of the two who tried to assassinate Pres Trump several months later. Feds seem to know nothing or probably tell nothing.
May be the case here.

The government knows exactly what's going on. They tested these things out over the desert, now they're just testing them over a populated area to get other results. There's nothing in Jersey to see anyway except pine trees, sod farms, and tomato plants. They won't fly these things over Camden or Newark because they may get shot down by gangs.

My starting point on this is that I doubt that there is anything actually there. People have been seeing "lights in the sky" for at least many decades, and they used to be called UFOs, now called "drones" since that is the cool new thing. I remain skeptical that anything is there, or at least anything unusual. Is a normal private aircraft flight now tagged as a "mysterious drone"? How in the heck do people on the ground know that these are "drones" and not manned aircraft?
I sense a hysterical 'Yeah, I saw one, TOO!' sort of thing going on here, ginned up by the clown show "media". Show me something REAL, and I'll pay attention. Silly stories of lights in the sky.....not appearing on radar, or in daylight.....and I will remain skeptical.

Why theory? Why do they not find out? I cannot wait for this administration to be out of office.
