President-elect Donald Trump’s team is reportedly floating the idea of shaking up the White House press briefing room. As expected, members of the press are already whining about it.Team Trump is looking at replacing legacy media outlets in the briefing room’s front rows to make room for independent news organizations, at least some of which might be friendlier to the incoming administration, according to The Hill.
People close to Trump have said in recent days he should dramatically change who gets access to the president, suggesting podcasters, internet personalities and media deemed more friendly to him could replace outlets like the major television networks,

Smart, when so many people get their news from social sites and podcasts. They could free up that NPR seat that doesn't need to be there.

Shouldn't the people in the briefing room be a balanced representation of active media in the Country and not an ego massage for the fading legacy media?
No you can't have a rep from every podcaster but maybe there should be a rep for "podcasters"?
Of course the fading propaganda media are going to resist this. They have already lost most of their power to persuade through their lies and manipulations. While not shoving them out, it appropriately dilutes their influence to the smaller markets they serve. This is branding them as the fading industry that they are, "Fake News" to "Last Gasp News". You can smell the flop sweat.
Further, their management KNOWS this shrinkage is happening. People aren't "reading their stuff" and THAT is all on THEM. When they are consistently acting with bias, even with self admitted bias as they did this for this election, they don't think there will be consequences. THIS, if nothing else, brands them as Leftists who think nothing is ever their fault and the only way they can continue to exist is to duck responsibility for all the messes they make.
It will be interesting to see this evolve. Who will be in (the growing influencers)? Who will be out (extinction bound dinosaur media)? And the accompanying celebration and angst.
As to boycotts, what a great Leftist idea! Force people to turn to alternative media to get the story because YOU are too busy having a hissy fit to capture the information that is being provided. Losers!

Too few people go to major networks for news/propaganda in the present era to give them major importance.

Any outlet or journalist who has pursued and run any false hood, Russia, Russia, Russia comes to mind, should be barred from the room...Period! They have proven their lack of integrity and we, as Americans, do not need them!

Just as a small example of the leftwing bias of the entire so-called MSM, look at the coordinated attacks on Pete Hedseth, all due to a unsubstantiated report from an unknown source. They don't care about the truth, it's all about sinking Trump nominees and destroying the life of their victim. Who will it be after Hedseth? You know they're already prepared to attack another nominee. May all go bankrupt.

All "media" outlets desiring to have access to the White House Briefing Room should be required to submit a verifiable "application for access" to the briefing room each January that includes the number of "subscribers", "listeners", "audience" or other listing of persons that they reach. (If the "media" source were found to present false information, they would be banned from the briefing room for ten years). I suggest that this would be a fair, unbiased criteria to qualify for a seat in the briefing room as assignment would be based on the verifiable size of their "audience" reached.

I propose they turn the briefing room back into a swimming pool and just communicate by podcast.

What entitles them to the front row anyway? Their concerns aren't they won't be there, just that they won't be front and center.

I wish Trump, his team and the conservative media would just shut up about all the things the Trump administration plans on doing. It freaks out the leftist Democrats and gives them two more months to plan and put stumbling blocks in Trump's way or do something even more nefarious.

They well should be ‘freaking out’. The truth is a death knell to their propaganda and agenda. It is way past time!
They have lied and successfully delegitimized their opposition as liars in the minds of too many people. They have skillfully blocked easy access to information that would expose their deceit, and opened countless blinded eyes and deceived ears.
Democrats latest projection of their evil deeds onto Trump and MAGA supporters [ https://pjmedia.com/robert-spencer/2024/12/06/obama-just-accused-republicans-of-what-democrats-are-doing-and-its-nothing-less-than-ominous-n4934907 ] is a prime example of what would be blared 24/7 with very little seen and heard to counter it - if not for the Trump administration plan to present unfiltered access to information about Trump, his plans and actions.

Anyone that interrupts OR starts talking over another should be removed for disrespect!

Maybe the idea is that journalists who actually have large audiences should get those seats? There were podcasts on election night that had audiences comparable to broadcast news channels.

I love it!! They know they are irrelevant but hopeful they can hold on a little longer to being a source of news. They did it to themselves when they politicized the news to favor the Left. People want the truth, not their lies.
