Oprah finally explains the controversial
$1 million Kamala Harris fee

Under fire from critics including her hometown Chicago newspaper, Oprah Winfrey is now seeking to explain the $1 million fee paid to her production company for a town hall event supporting Kamala Harris. Before the election, Winfrey's Harpo Productions helped stage a star-studded town hall event for the vice president in Michigan as the billionaire entertainment mogul enthusiastically endorsed Harris to be the next president of the United States. The Harris campaign footed the bill for organizing the town hall and made a $1 million payment to Winfrey's production company, Harpo Productions.

Why didn't Oprah donate her time AND cover production expenses? That's a very nice "campaign contribution." I heard that Beonce received $11 Million for her few minutes on stage. All of them are just so sincere. Endorsing Kamala for the good of the country and to assure their daughter's can abort at least her first few grandchildren. The same for ALL of them who generously "gave of their time."

If Oprah believed so much that Harris was the most worthy candidate she should have made $1 million contribution to the campaign. After all she could afford it.

FTA —- “Winfrey clarified that she personally did not get 'one dime' from the campaign.” Weasel words. The campaign paid $1 million to Oprah’s production company. So, what is Oprah saying, that she did not benefit from the $1 million payment made to her production company?

Trying to fool people again even though everyone knows Oprah owns Harpo. Wonder why they needed a Chicago-based production company to handle their Michigan event? And, don't think Oprah lives in Chicago anymore (neither do the Obama's) so where did she fly-in from? Her palatial estate in Montecito, CA?

Lame. Chicago Tribune expresses my opinion: "Frankly, $1 million is not all that much to Winfrey and so we very much doubt that she was seeking any kind of personal payday from her chosen candidate,' the editorial board wrote in a column. 'But she does own Harpo and serves as its chairwoman and CEO. The production fees should have been a campaign donation.'"

How does this relate to payments made to Trump Hotels/Resorts, not DJT? Seems the dems do not separate the two, even after DJT has to remove himself from his business. So, don't expect me to buy the Harpo productions is not Oprah, when she has an active ownership role.

An event like that doesn't cost anywhere near a million dollars to produce. I've worked on live TV productions for over 30 years and I can tell you it didn't cost anywhere near a million dollars to produce a live Kamala event. Figure 6 camera ops (if that many) at $600/day, Producer, director, technical director at not much more than that. and you're looking at $6000 in labor. Add in production truck rental that MIGHT cost $100k at the top end and sat truck rental that wouldn't exceed $10k, and you're looking at less than $200k in expenses. Even if the furniture and sets were gold plated, they're never going to hit a million dollars.

The 80-year-old disbarred lawyer and former New York City mayor relinquished 26 watches, a ring, cash, and a blue 1980 Mercedes convertible once owned by Hollywood icon Lauren Bacall, to the two women who won the $148 million defamation judgment, according to his lawyer.
