Republicans should keep the champagne on ice until the election results are official and act like we’re trailing due to the institutional goliaths we’re facing this election cycle—but one thing cannot be denied: we’re in good shape to win the election. It’s not over, but Joe Biden had a seven-point advantage over Trump in 2024. There’s no pandemic. And Kamala Harris is irritating everyone. Even the most ardent Trump-hater cannot deny that the former president is polling better than ever. While it’s a tight race, Trump has reclaimed the advantage in Nate Silver’s Electoral College projection:

Don't take ANYTHING for granted. I can envision a scenario where there is voter fraud so massive and blatant that it be impossible to deny yet our government will do nothing about it other than declare 'The results are final'.

Again, it ain't over until it's over. And if Trump wins, don't expect the other side to go quietly into the night, but we'll save that for another day. Go out and vote, get your friends to vote, if you don't have any friends, make some so you can get them out to vote. But there's a part of me that says I think this could be a "too big to steal" election for Trump. I'm seeing the trends of the 1980 Carter-Reagan race where a tight race turned into a Reagan near-landslide on election night. If my old feeble memory works, I remember reading that Carter's political team told him on his way back from his last campaign stop the night before that there was no way he could win. Here's why. Trump is doing much better with many of the "strong Democrat" voting blocks. He may not be winning majorities in some of them, but he's pulling larger numbers than any Republican in my voting lifetime (50 years; crud, I'm old). Blacks, especially black males, have gone 90-10 for Dems, it will probably be 80-20 this time around (with a higher number with black males). Hispanics are close to 50-50, maybe a little less. He's doing much better with women, suburban and urban voters, Jews, Catholics, and youth than in either 2016 or 2020. I've asked this over and over to wise political minds I know, but I can't find one group where Trump is underperforming. Maybe the Cheneys and the McCains, but even there, I think they have Megan McCain's vote. I've heard the "Black and Hispanic vote are trending GOP" line for a long time. I've adopted the Apostle Thomas stance and will wait to see it before I believe it. I remember once hearing that if Republicans can draw 15% of the Black vote, they are more-or-less undefeatable in state and nationwide elections. Now, the one concern I do have is that we did not turn out the "red wave" in 2022. Some of these projections are counting on the "hidden" Trump vote (3-5% as shown in 2016 and 2020). Is that "hidden vote" still there or are many (not all) Trump voters willing to "go public" with their support? We may not know that answer until after election night. But there's an outside possibility that it might be a short election night. If I were either candidate, I might hold off on the balloon and fireworks order for now.

Kamala Harris is already in trouble with some Catholics and others for blowing off the tradition of the Al Smith dinner, as well as sending a video that some thought missed the point of the event and was offensive. You don't get more voters by preaching to those who are already voting for you; that's the problem with her events. She had the opportunity to reach out to more voters with the Al Smith dinner, but she didn't care. No, it’s not “the economy, stupid,” in spite of the schizophrenic stock market since our remarkably resilient capitalistic economy ran head-on into the socialist-cum-communist Biden-Harris regime, with its $1.8-trillion deficit. And no, it’s not domestic policy, where we have had the luxury of being on the receiving end of these: High taxes. High food prices. High gas prices. Sky-high regulations. Alarmingly high crime rates throughout the country, particularly in states run by Democrats, where arrests are few, bail is nonexistent, and raging criminals enjoy no consequences for their assaults, rapes, murders, racist attacks, etc.

On the campaign trail this month, former President Donald Trump has repeatedly vowed to “close the federal Department of Education” and expand school choice — a wildly popular concept that cuts across party lines, new polling shows. Good news: If he wins the White House again, he can do both. The federal Department of Education is an unconstitutional waste of time and money. Its very existence arguably violates the Tenth Amendment: The word “education” appears nowhere in the Constitution. The federal government has spent well over a trillion dollars on K-12 education since the department’s inception, while failing to improve student performance.
