The repeated attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life have deepened conservatives’ distrust of the government and the criminal justice system, including suspicions that Democrats and high-ranking officials are rooting for attempted assassins.
White House officials aren’t backing off their rhetoric. A day after the assassination attempt Sunday, they framed Mr. Trump as “dangerous” and a “threat” to Democracy. At the same time, Republicans are intensifying scrutiny of the Secret Service and whether it is purposefully leaving the former president vulnerable.
Rep. Elijah Crane, Arizona Republican, said Mr. Trump should increase his use of private bodyguards rather than rely on government agents to protect him.

Former President Trump’s favorability rating has risen by 5 percentage points in the past month, according to a survey released Wednesday.
The Gallup poll shows Trump’s favorability has bounced back in September, returning to June levels — before President Biden withdrew from the race. Roughly 46 percent of respondents had a favorable view of the GOP nominee in the latest survey, compared to 41 percent in August.
Harris, who rose to the top of the ticket after Biden stepped aside, saw a dip in her favorability — dropping from 47 percent to 44 percent in the recent poll.
Despite the fluctuation in favorability, the pollster suggests both White House candidates are underwater

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters leadership has declined to endorse a U.S. president despite a recently released poll showing that a majority of the union’s members support President Donald Trump, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Teamsters have endorsed a Democratic nominee in every presidential race since 1996.
“Our mission as union representatives is clear: to be honest and upfront, to be inclusive and, above all, to be transparent with our membership. As the strongest and most democratic labor union in America,

WASHINGTON – The Federal Reserve on Wednesday enacted its first interest rate cut since the early days of the Covid pandemic, slicing half a percentage point off benchmark rates in an effort to head off a slowdown in the labor market.
With both the jobs picture and inflation softening, the central bank's Federal Open Market Committee chose to lower its key overnight borrowing rate by a half percentage point, or 50 basis points, affirming market expectations that had recently shifted from an outlook for a cut half that size. Outside of the emergency rate cuts during Covid, the last time the FOMC cut by half a point was in 2008

BEIRUT - Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon's south and in Beirut's southern suburbs, a security source and a witness said, further stoking tensions with Israel a day after similar explosions launched via the group's pagers.
Three people were killed in Lebanon's Bekaa region, the state news agency reported, and dozens of people were wounded in the latest device blast.
At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country and wounded many of the group's fighters.

As we previously reported, waves were made Sunday when GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance sat down for what turned out to be a contentious interview with CNN anchor Dana Bash, who repeatedly berated the Ohio Senator for the crime of bringing to light the concerns of constituents who he says alleged that Haitian migrants are eating pets and waterfowl in Springfield.
"Before Donald Trump talked about eating dogs and cats on a debate stage, it was you, Senator, who first elevated this baseless rumor," Bash huffed. "These are your constituents. So, why are you putting them at risk by continuing to spread claims about Haitian immigrants, despite officials

Republican megadonor and hedge fund billionaire John Paulson revealed that he would pull his money out of the stock market if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the upcoming presidential election, pointing to “uncertainty” around her economic policies.
In an interview with Fox Business host Liz Claman, Paulson who founded Paulson & Co., spoke about how the Biden-Harris administration wants to raise the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent and wants to raise the capital gains rate from 20 percent to 28 percent. Trump has previously considered having Paulson serve as his Secretary of the Treasury if elected president.

CBS News reporter Adriana Diaz said on Tuesday on “CBS Mornings” that while she was traveling through Nevada, she interviewed people at restaurants who were “really excited” to vote for former President Donald Trump.
Co-host Tony Dokoupil said, “This morning in our series ‘Three Meals,’ we are going to the battleground state of Nevada. Every week until the election, we are hitting the road with different states in mind to break bread with the voters there and ask them what matters most.”
Diaz said, “Spanish settlers called this Nevada, meaning snowy, but down on the ground, the state is sizzling hot, just like what’s cooking at this smoker. It’s the outdoor kitchen

We keep on being sold the line that Trump is unfit to be president because he uses hateful rhetoric, and I admit that I wished Trump used less incendiary words often enough.
But the people who make this complaint are, if anything, much worse. Trump directs his ire at what are in the end serious problems making the lives of everyday Americans worse, and in return his critics call him a Nazi, an existential threat to America, and make the most disparaging remarks about his supporters. Among the worst offenders are some former Republicans. Rick Wilson famously called for somebody to "put a bullet" in Donald Trump's head, and many

We actually have two questions that require answers in the wake of Sunday's assassination attempt on Donald Trump by a (well-)"known wolf". The first question: Why didn't federal security and intel agencies take Ryan Wesley Routh seriously? He had a decades-long track record of criminal activity, and numerous people tried to warn the FBI, Homeland Security, and the State Department of his dangerous nature.
We may wait a long time for a satisfactory explanation for that question. Thanks to Tanya Lukyanova, however, we have a good answer to the second question: Why did American media outlets take Routh seriously?

Sky News Arabia quotes sources saying that today’s large-scale pager attack in Lebanon was possible because the Mossad spy agency got hold of Hezbollah’s communication devices before they were handed over to the terror group.
The Israeli spy agency placed a quantity of PETN, a highly explosive material, on the batteries of the devices, and detonated them by raising the temperature of the batteries from afar, the source says.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that some Hezbollah members felt their pagers heating up and disposed of them before the series of explosions that killed at least nine and injured about 2,800 people.

Since Sunday's second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, Democrats and the legacy media have been on overdrive in their efforts to blame Trump himself for the incident. One way or another, they must find a way to hang the threat of violence against Trump around his own neck, even if that means twisting logic into an unrecognizable pretzel and dispending with any effort at consistency.
Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), had his hands full Sunday (prior to the attempt), making the rounds on the Sunday shows
