Reports from Arab and Israeli media have said that over 1,200 people have been wounded.
Hundreds of members of the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah were seriously wounded on Tuesday in Lebanon's south and the southern suburbs of Beirut when the pagers they use to communicate exploded, security sources told Reuters.
A Reuters journalist saw 10 Hezbollah members bleeding from wounds in the southern suburb of Beirut known as Dahiyeh. A senior Lebanese security source told Al-Hadath that Israel infiltrated the communication system of individual devices and detonated them.

You can't help but admire the Israelis' tactics. What could be more targeted and effective?

Probably causing an overload on the lithium battery.
Cool.

Re#2, well, terrorists, apparently. Cell phones can be tracked, but not pagers, since they only receive, do not transmit.

Very interesting. Can this be done to EVs?
Exploding pagers would be considered a safety failure. How would they even be available for sale if they could not pass a safety test? Did Israel sabotage a bunch of pagers and sell them to Hezbollah?

I wonder if some day the Deep State will do that with certain people's cell phones.
Meanwhile, good job, Israel!

It looked like a primary explosive detonating. Possibly a mixed charge. Not just a lithium battery overloading. They usually just burn hot and uncontrollably. Either it was hidden in the pager from the start or they got a shipment of "special" batteries. This is better than the Stuxnet virus attack.
Pagers? Really? Nobody but terrorist networks would be affected. Perfect target.

The New York Times had an update from minutes ago that contained the following: "Mohammed Awada, 52, was driving alongside one of the victims. “My son went crazy and started to scream when he saw the man’s hand flying away from him,” he said."
The report stated that people's pockets would start smoking followed buy a "fireworks" blast.

I'm citing stats from memory... If incorrect, not off by much:
Jews hold 26% of all Nobel Prizes yet only make up less than .1 percent of the world's population.
It isn't smart to mess with Jews.

Corrected stats: Nobel Prize winners that are/were Jewish 22% World's percentage of Jews %0.2
My numbers were off by single digits, but statistically, I was off by more than 100%

I bet there’s a ton more injured and dead than reported.
Has to be seriously demoralizing, too.

Regarding lithium batteries Here is a video of an E-bike battery exploding in an elevator.
Pretty nasty.
If this was widely shown, I don't think too many people would be buying anything with a lithium battery.
That the Israelis were able to design this to happen 'on command' is pretty cool, in light of how nasty and vicious the Hezbollah are.

Beat me to it, #11! I can attest to that, having 'worn' one 24/7 for quite a few years. Also, cheaper and not dependent on cellphone networks (bonus).

Reminds me of the scene in the movie Kingsmen when they detonated the small explosive devices in people's heads as part of their plot (the bad guys) to take over the world and reduce the population due to global warming & overpopulation. They got what they deserved. Too bad they couldn't get earbuds to explode.
