Former President Donald Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the phone, ostensibly for the first time since leaving office in January 2021.
As his chances of victory in the November election appear to grow, some world leaders have started making limited overtures to Trump in preparation for a possible second presidency. One of these has been Zelensky, who is heavily reliant on the United States for support in its war with Russia. Both parties said the call was productive.Trump said Zelensky congratulated him on winning the Republican nomination for president and condemned the “heinous assassination attempt” last Saturday. He also, according to the former president, “remarked about

Anthony Fauci dismissed the gunshot wound Donald Trump sustained during Saturday's assassination attempt, telling CNN viewers: 'he's in the clear.'
Fauci made the comments after the former president, 78, wore a large white bandage over the gunshot wound on his ear throughout the Republican National Convention this week.
'I don't think there is much more to it,' Fauci, 83, said of Trump's wounds while talking to CNN host Wolf Blitzer on Friday. 'It was a bullet shot that grazed his ear.'

Former President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated a week ago, as he spoke at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday in what is seen as the largest Secret Service failure in four decades.
The bottom line is the agency in charge of protecting Trump failed to stop the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, from positioning himself less than 500 feet away and firing eight bullets at the former president, one coming mere millimeters from taking his life. There are multiple investigations underway, but so far, very few answers. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is due to testify to the House Oversight Committee on Monday. Here are nine major

Lansing, Mich.—Michigan Republican state Rep. Josh Schriver is writing a bill that would provide “unlimited” protection resources to former president Donald Trump whenever he visits the state.
The announcement came just four days after Trump was nearly assassinated at July 13 campaign event in Butler, Pa.
“In light of the left-wing assassination attempt on former President Trump’s life, I’m currently drafting a policy for Michigan to provide the presumptive next president of the United States unlimited law enforcement resources toward his protection every time he visits Michigan between now and his inauguration,” Schriver tweeted. The View's Joy Behar has been slammed for describing Donald Trump as 'very narcissistic' after he claimed he survived his assassination attempt because God was 'on his side' – with a growing mob now calling for her to be sacked.
The former president, 78, acknowledged his Christian faith as he addressed the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, earlier this week, marking his first speech since he was shot at by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks last Saturday.
Behar, 81, criticized Trump's lengthy statement during Friday's episode, branding his words 'very unchristian' and 'disturbing.'

US President Joe Biden doubled down on his insistence that he will stay in the White House race, despite a growing Democrat revolt that raised speculation he could bow out as soon as this weekend.
“The stakes are high, and the choice is clear. Together, we will win,” the 81-year-old said in a written statement from the Delaware beach home where he is recovering from Covid. Biden vowed to return to the campaign trail next week, and took aim at Donald Trump’s “dark” speech accepting his nomination at the Republican National Convention on Thursday.
But his defiance came as six more House Democrats and another senator joined those publicly

Is there a shift coming?
We're seeing Democrats continuing to implode all over the place over their presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Republicans have come together behind former President Donald Trump, and they just had a banger of a convention that even CNN's Van Jones had to praise because of the spirit it had. When even those on the left have to acknowledge the obvious, you know that the narrative is taking a serious beating and may be in trouble. Now, let's add one more to that narrative whomping.
CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg just made some surprising comments about the Trump assassination attempt in a new interview.

Mourners gathered at a Pennsylvania church Friday for the funeral of the volunteer fire chief killed at Donald Trump’s rally last weekend – as the deceased’s casket was carried from the venue draped in a US flag.
The casket of Corey Comperatore, 50, was carried by eight firefighters out of Cabot United Methodist Church as the deceased’s widow and other mourner’s looked on.
The husband and father of two was killed while trying to shield his family when a gunman opened fire from a factory rooftop during Trump’s rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds Saturday evening.
